  • Ossos jovens gemem

E as rochas lá embaixo dizem:"Atire seu corpo franzino para baixo, filho!"

  • That shirt just wants to be removed... Yes Morrissey, help it.

  • Cause andy doesn't deserve camera time. Johnny marr wrote all the bass parts. Why do people think he is any good. I mean he is good but all the praise should go to johnny fucking maher.

  • @Dangunner19 where is it said Johnny wrote all the bass parts? I keep reading people saying that but out of all I have read about the smiths nothing like that has ever came up...other then the occasional youtube comment. Educate me.

  • @Dangunner19: I'd say that about Mike Joyce, but Andy Rourke is far too good at his craft to have him go uncredited entirely.

  • @Dangunner19 actually Johnny Marr has spoke highly of Andy Rourke's contributions on The Queen is Dead on multiple occasions.

  • Cameramen don't care about Andy Rourke.

  • Wow, Morrissey's last NOOOOOOO at the end is fantastic!

  • this is so much better than the studio version haha

  • "Well I can smile about it now but at the time it was terrible." Yeah. I feel ya, Moz. <3

  • @ladyodessasilvererg one suffers for ones art.

  • 'I could smile about it now but at the time it was terrible'

    Priceless!!

  • ♥ no words!

  • What an amazing performance. Morrissey's delivery is spellbinding.

  • the only single from meat is murder album in madrid, the home of animal brutality

  • is this the only recording of S Sister??

  • Johnny Marr (L)

  • greatest band of all time. everytime he sings "ooooooooooo" i get shivers down my spine

  • 83 comments and no one has mentioned Bo Diddley yet.....first thing I thought when I heard this song.......Bo Diddley.

  • mama let me goooooo

  • smiths > all the rest

  • Really excellent group.

  • The smiths should make more music like this!!! No one this day compares to them!!!

  • @Yearofthecat03 5 years in the 80's. Let it rest. To try and replicate this nowadays would be a complete travesty.

"The Smiths are dead boys, you can trust me."

  • I love the smiths and I love this song.

  • Johnny Marr is the absolute King. I love watching him take a Les Paul and make it JANGLE......heck, I don't even know how he did that.

  • I agree Ive never seen anyone play a les paul like that!

  • especially at 2.00

  • jutkeys is right especially at 2.00 ( in the morning ) when he is singing it in manyanas

  • A Room of One's Own

  • Bass Legend, genius and so underrated... Andy Rourke U R my hero!!!

  • Seriously, such a great bassist...

  • Does this song have any connection to Tim Buckely

  • Jangle, jangle, jangle....

    So good!

  • When was that?

  • Madrid, 1985

  • if everyone says he's underrated how can he in fact be underrated . . . a conundrum

  • Well. There never was, and never will be, another band like that.

    Fantastic.

  • Morrissey's on top form here. The Smiths are brilliant. 2.18 :o

  • I love you I love you I love you!!!

  • let's not forget- Andy Rourke- one of the greatest bass players of all time!!!

  • @world964 no great band has a weak link - listen to the drumming on cemetry gates.

  • @fasfadsfsd

Are you suggesting the Smiths weren't great because of a bit of off drumming?

    GTFO, fool!

  • @world964 I never forgot Rourke's bass playing. Wow!

  • Johnny Marr is one of the most underrated guitarists. It seems, but being a guitar player trust me, We know who is great of our kind, and he is respected highly among guitarists.

  • It's bizarre, I grew up listening to the Smiths and yet never really noticed! I nailed all REM's stuff as a kid and shied away from Smiths riffs.... now I'm in my 30's and enjoying the, er, challenge of Marr!!! DAMN HIM! And was only in his early 20's!

  • wow that's hilarious

  • Marr IS one of the best guitarists of all time.

you do not mess with the songs he wrote...very unique and incredibly detailed

  • Any Moz /Smiths fans from Toronto please contact me, organizing a Smiths/Morrissey fest.I would love for all fans (who wish to come) to be there.

    Viva Moz... Thanks

  • The Smiths have the most creative lyrics of any band I've ever listened to. Long live Moz!

  • i've watched it literally over 60 times

  • "i thought that if you had an acoustic guitar that it ment that you were a PROTEST SINGER oh i can smile about it now but at the time it was terrible".... true genius.... all time fav band

  • Definitely one of the best Smiths songs!!!!!!

  • Numero 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!! I admit it, I'm stuck in the past musically but I can't help myself, I am possessed by the spirit of the Smiths and Moz.

  • wow....thank god for youtube...

  • Dude, Marr was a monster in the guitar on this one... gracias!

  • Damn these were the good ole days I remember them singing this

  • Ace! My son and I sing this loudly in the car. I love the line'I thought that if you had an acoustic guitar it meant that you were a protest singer. I can smile about it now but at the time it was terrible.' Morrissey at his lyrical best.

  • One of my favourite lyrics too :)

  • thanks! one of my favorite smiths songs

  • Shakespeare's sister was a single out the blue and it showed the genius of the smiths to release it when they did, no marketing prior to meat is murder, they never even thought about marketing strategy just that they had a great song that they wanted everyone to hear, and i thank them for that, this is my favourite smiths song of all time

  • I'm going to meet the one I love..

  • Le-De-Da-Le-De-Da

  • Shakespeare's Sister was a non album single that turned up on Louder than Bombs and World Won't Listen compilations Shakespear's Sister the group was named after this song but they

put the spelling difference down to typeset error (From Wiki)

  • i agree this live version both instrumentals and morriseys voice sounds better then the studio album.

  • You know a band's good when the live performance is far better than the produced album version. I'd rather listen to this version than the one they put on the CD....

  • This is certainly more in tune for Morrissey, and the band are performing brilliantly here, but I just love the emotion and the out-of-tune ness in Morrissey vocals on the album version

  • Im sorry everyone, but i just cannot put into words how good the smiths make me feel.

its not that they're briliant, its that they're so brilliant, i really could cry.

  • me too!....boo-hoo!....I think that's the best way of describing them ..well done and cheers!

  • I completely agree!!! I'm a huge fan of the Smiths and have been since I was 15/16. I enjoy that younger people of today appreciate them since I'm now a year away from 40. I saw them in Brixton and they were one of the best live performing bands I've seen.

  • :O

    Ah now, that's awefully cheeky

  • I love the way he always pulls at his shirt... hot!

  • barbie-shell is wrong I bet if they really tried hard they could write a bad song

  • the smiths...couldn't write a bad song if they tried

  • AWESOME...TOTALLY AWESOME!

  • i didn't even know he had a sister blimey

  • he didnt, its a reference to some essay by Virginia Woolf, something like that

  • i think kwstudd was joking mate! But just to be as anal as you, how do you know shakespeare didn't in fact have a sister?

  • Well if he did then Virginia Woolf's essay wouldnt make too much sense. Im trusting Virginia Woolf on this one.

  • i love the ending, Morrissey's voice is so awesome

  • god, I'm just in awe at how wonderful they were live. I desperately want a time machine.

  • that can be arranged, contact me asap, time is of the essence

  • i thought that if you had an acoustic guitar then it meant that you were a girlfriend in a coma...

  • elbenjo is still upset because he audition for the smiths and was laughed out of the building! Get over it already....its been over 25 years!!! By the way, elbenjo, did you ever learn to properly play the drums?

  • Meine Gott ..sucha Phantastisch SOng!

    Marvelous quality!

    Thanks for this pleasure!

  • lovely - I didn't know this song - what CD is it on. morrissey the man of my dreams - sinfully handsome!

  • it is on "Louder Than Bombs" as well as "The World Won't Listen"

  • when I grow up I want to be in The Smiths

  • fucking excellent song from an amazing band

  • ebenjo ? lol what ebenjo knows on the smiths? The smiths are the most influential british band of the 80´s and one of the best bands ever .

  • What a superb song it sums up the Smiths for me, skinny bodies forever

  • Elbenjo obviously hates The Smiths seeing as he decided to watch this video...

    I LOVE THE SMITHS.

  • Quality! does any1 happen to have any videos of any of the smiths instrumentals (draize train, money changes everything, oscillate wildly)live?

  • elbenjo u tit

  • elbenjo is an ignorant swine. very underated song by an amazing band. if you hate the smith's i will never listen to a word you say.

  • The Smiths are great.

  • fuckin shite
