Cause andy doesn't deserve camera time. Johnny marr wrote all the bass parts. Why do people think he is any good. I mean he is good but all the praise should go to johnny fucking maher.
@Dangunner19 where is it said Johnny wrote all the bass parts? I keep reading people saying that but out of all I have read about the smiths nothing like that has ever came up...other then the occasional youtube comment. Educate me.
Johnny Marr is one of the most underrated guitarists. It seems, but being a guitar player trust me, We know who is great of our kind, and he is respected highly among guitarists.
It's bizarre, I grew up listening to the Smiths and yet never really noticed! I nailed all REM's stuff as a kid and shied away from Smiths riffs.... now I'm in my 30's and enjoying the, er, challenge of Marr!!! DAMN HIM! And was only in his early 20's!
"i thought that if you had an acoustic guitar that it ment that you were a PROTEST SINGER oh i can smile about it now but at the time it was terrible".... true genius.... all time fav band
Ace! My son and I sing this loudly in the car. I love the line'I thought that if you had an acoustic guitar it meant that you were a protest singer. I can smile about it now but at the time it was terrible.' Morrissey at his lyrical best.
Shakespeare's sister was a single out the blue and it showed the genius of the smiths to release it when they did, no marketing prior to meat is murder, they never even thought about marketing strategy just that they had a great song that they wanted everyone to hear, and i thank them for that, this is my favourite smiths song of all time
Shakespeare's Sister was a non album single that turned up on Louder than Bombs and World Won't Listen compilations Shakespear's Sister the group was named after this song but they
put the spelling difference down to typeset error (From Wiki)
You know a band's good when the live performance is far better than the produced album version. I'd rather listen to this version than the one they put on the CD....
This is certainly more in tune for Morrissey, and the band are performing brilliantly here, but I just love the emotion and the out-of-tune ness in Morrissey vocals on the album version
I completely agree!!! I'm a huge fan of the Smiths and have been since I was 15/16. I enjoy that younger people of today appreciate them since I'm now a year away from 40. I saw them in Brixton and they were one of the best live performing bands I've seen.
elbenjo is still upset because he audition for the smiths and was laughed out of the building! Get over it already....its been over 25 years!!! By the way, elbenjo, did you ever learn to properly play the drums?

@Dangunner19: I'd say that about Mike Joyce, but Andy Rourke is far too good at his craft to have him go uncredited entirely.
FriedGold8942 7 months ago
@Dangunner19 actually Johnny Marr has spoke highly of Andy Rourke's contributions on The Queen is Dead on multiple occasions.
