I appreciate your opinion. From my experience and my students' experience, what Grandmaster Kim teaches works great. What Grandmaster Kim has done with Chayon-Ryu is develop a way for people of many physical abilities and ages to train together in one place. I recommend someone with more intensity in mind take the lessons and PT themselves outside of class and "ramp it up" a bit. Grandmaster Kim considers himself an educator, not a drill instructor. Good to hear from a former student!
Thanks. I feel that ChayonRyu gave a me a strong foundation in martial arts. The other styles that I have trained in after are an extension of that training. I understand it is impossible in a classroom with people of all ages and genders to incorporate grappling, ground fighting, etc... The "Natural Way" was just a stop in my journey as a student of the martial arts.
Well I am a former student of the "Natural Way". I have much respect for Kwang Jang Nim and yourself Master Kim... but I felt that the system was lacking for ME. Not aggresive enough or complete for ME. I understand the whole spiritual aspect of it though. Maybe you took offense to my comment.
Last one I can remember well is from 1995, but there may have been one more. The last festival was held just before the UH Robertson field house was demolished.
Very cool.
