I am certain this is the on-hands trainer for the next step and that is a fully powered gyro training and solo flight. There are software trainers one should use before this step as I have flown a gyro in FlightSimX for hundreds of hours. As with any flying lessons it is to teach an individual basic flight characteristics of their machine. The weakest link in a gyro is the same as a winged craft and that is the pilot. Example: if a pilot see anything at all wrong he grounds the craft.
@lwblack64 The flight sim does not accurately represent the real gyro in terms of power on/power off pitch stability, roll rate and spin-up of the rotor. The sim acts like a super-slow flying Piper Cub, and will lift off at one airspeed regardless of rotor speed. It'll probably help you with your approach planning and accuracy, but expect more new characteristics when you get training in the real thing. Be careful.
nothing like a little lee side rotor induced from the van. Man people think us Hang pilots are nuts! He would be better off 500 ft up and half mile back. Gosh there is no wiggle room in that.

this was later flipped on it's side and dragged down the runway destroying a set of borrowed blades and chewing up a perfectly good hand.
