  • Brought BACK to AAMCO OBT

    Can,t fix it !?

  • How to avoid Ripoffs? Dont go to Withnell Dodge! Withnell Dodge sold me a rebuild and it blew up in two days...they held me hostage and charged $500 more on top of the $1800 I already paid to fix it!

  • really good video.

  • AAMCO OBT Orlando FL

RIP OFF Stay away. Spent $3,000

Still light ON. How much extra I need.

    95 supra auto

  • Before you go to AAMCO, check on the internet , some are honest and some are just criminal rip off shops.

  • Engine and Transmission World; they are crooks. The owners are Mark Dpbrenko and Allen Simmons. They are under US DOJ investigation and they will end up behind bars. In the meantime; spread the word: don't buy from E&TW, they will rip you off. Mark and Allen are terrible people and care only about money and are driven by greed. Google "Engine and Transmission World"; read all the complaints and warnings. I wish I had. Don't make the mistake I did, stay as far away from them as you can. Good luck

  • Gil younger summed it up best , He wrote( Depressed price in this trade is caused by a contagious ego disorder that has caused shops to participate in a nearly fatal contest to prove who can work harder for less. Low prices create their own “economically depressed area” which in turn re-creates and excuses continuing low prices. It’s a vicious cycle based on fear.

Fear of losing a job and/or losing money becomes so overwhelming that the shop is not even able to think about making a fair profit).

  • 9 people fix transmissions

  • My vehicle was taken to Action Transmission on April 10 2010. The transmission was to be rebuilt for the amount of

$1,805.00. My vehicle a 1999 Mazda 626 has been returned to this place of business for repairs three times this is the

fourth incident that I have had since the transmission was supposedly rebuilt. I have recently found out that the

transmission installed in my vehicle is a junk yard transmission. Not a rebuilt transmission like I had paid for. 12270 sw 117 ct Miami, Fl Josh Seth

  • @havocmia I wish I could read this article I had a guy in Cleveland, Ohio do mines and he charge 950 and stands behind his work. it sure beat 2500 and 1500 these dummies want in my area.

  • Ripoffs competing with other Ripoffs.

  • It's a very old video. Back then, that's all it cost.

  • 3:50 I want a car with Double D's too!! and a girlfriend the same way :)

  • I got a great deal on a good used transmission from Gardner's Auto Parts in Pompano Beach Florida. I saved a lot of dough. Google them.

  • I completely agree with this guy in this video One example is a few years back I had to have a transmission rebuilt so i took it to a transmission repair shop that has been in business along time, told them to test drive the car and then call me with price to fix it they never called and when i called they had my transmission in thousands of pieces, so i had to hire a wrecker to go pick my car up and all the boxes my transmission was in and they wonted to charge me around 2000.00 to repair it

  • How does anyone buy into a $1700 trans repair? Used trans $400 plus $350 to install = $750. Will last you another 5 years.

  • @smithraymond09029 I also own a transmission repair shop too. So when a customer wants get a used transmission, I dont get it myself because i wouldnt warranty such a used transmission from a junkyard cuz they just tell you the transmission is perfect.

$1700 could equal = torque converter, solenoid, more than 1 drum, overhaul kits, master kits, nd labor.

so all that gets warrantied in my shop for 1 yr. or 12,000 miles whichever comes first

  • @smithraymond09029 you are correct sir

  • @smithraymond09029 Thats if you have the luck of finding one that will last you 5 yrs that is what they put in my car a used transmission.

  • Hi guys this is Tony Perez with A Best Transmission in San Antonio. I thought I'd take a look at this video to see if this transmission shop had any good advice. After watching it I quickly realized, It was all about marketing their business. I'd like to leave you with a few tips. You have only three choices. The dealer expensive. The auto shop (no expert.) The rebuilders that salvage good parts, replacing the bad parts. In many cases this is the best choice. Just do your research first!

  • This is a video is not for everyone take the advise at your onw risk. My personal advise get at least 3 stimates that offer at least 1 YEAR WARANTY OR 12000 MILES.

Remenber if sounds to good to be thrue maybe it is.

  • i got mine done on my 03 ford taurus for $500 bucks. all i had to do was go over to the other side of the border and it has not let me down. its sweet to live in san diego. damn i love those mexican auto shops...I have always said, its a matter of "who you know". i could of had it repaired here for about $650 from somebody else i know. point of my comment; its good to know people. oh and yes. ALL of the mechanic shops will try to rip you off if they see that you don't know jack

  • I have had my Ford Windstar (2000) in the shop for 1 month! After 2 weeks & $1,000, my van could not drive in 2nd or 3rd. And did not want to move in drive at red lights. Took it back 4 another 2 weeks....while driving for work, hesitated 2 drive, no 1st or 2nd, smoke came up all around van, no drive & transmission fluid all over the ground. It broke down completely while going up a small hill. I still owe $1,000 more and feel I've been taken 4 a ride, cause I'm a woman. ; (

  • @MelodiesfromHeaven why don't you list that name of the shop and location if this is thrue?

  • @1fishdreamer ;

Never thought bout it.However,I hav found others who he has swindled. Also, some info, on how 2 get your money back before taking it to small claims court. Contact your State Attorney's Office by sending them a letter of complaint + a copy to the bussiness owner. In addittion call the Better Business Burea, they have a program called AUTO LINE.It is an out of court arbitration program paid by the business community to handle complaints(thier # 1-800-955-5100) I'm getting my $ back!

  • yup, they're sure a bunch of crooks out there, brought my truck to 'MR.TRANSMISSION' on jane & lawrence in north york ontario and just to scan the problem, the old guy told me 100 bucks,i balled out,and he said he went to school to learn this and what ever and said a transmission for my truck would cost me $6000.00. luckily the old fool didn't know i had warranty on my truck,i laughed and left and all my truck needed was a line pressure control solenoid.

  • @penvon what were the symptoms of your problem?

I'm having an issue with the car "jumping", or "thunking" a few seconds after putting the car in reverse, or a few seconds after I put it in drive and start going. Then it feels like it "thunks" back as it moves into 2nd gear, i think. It's loud, and the whole car jerks once when this happens. The shop said it was a solenoid, but I don't even know what that is.

  • This is just dumb.

  • This is an oldskool video. Also this guy has been doing this for many years to, how do i no that he isnt like all the other grease monkeys that have $ signs in the eyeballs whenever you walk in the door!

  • An estimate is NOT a quote. Once these pricks have your car in pieces, you're gonna cop it. I've been repairing auto trans since 1973, and I've seen it, done it, all.

There ain't no crystal ball to see inside a trans, so you cannot quote on it. All you can do is give an estimate as a ball park figure. Toyota would put me out of business. Hooray for Honda, Nissan, and Subaru.

  • Alot more can immobilize a car besides linkage and axels? do these people know what theyre talking about. As far as negotiating?, i work at a shop, there's no such thing as negotiating a price, its, THIS IS WHAT IT COSTS HERE

  • R&R is remove inspect and replace parts is only 6-8 hour or 10hr the most from Automotive manufactor ,where they come up with 14-18 hours....Cracker over charge but can't fix shit last 6-10 yrs...every transmission shop or service writer is a ripoffs is a crook a thieves...talk more and charge more is what this business peoples is good for...but can't fix crap thats make its last 6-10yrs

  • Thanks for the great info, will remember this in the future.

  • I have a better way to avoid Transmission Repair Ripoffs... buy a Toyota!...ever see a Toyota at a transmisson shop?

  • @toyota4x4canadaguy ....hahahaha YES.they might not all in dealer repair but 15 millions of those cars in the COURTsuide ,and the owner is in the Hospital or in the cemetery.......lol....

  • bla bla bla and nothing!

  • I've been in the transmission repair trade for 38 years. While there are a few good tips in this video, it saddens me that people watching it are going to think that a major repair should only cost $695. And the example is on an ancient Ford 3 speed. Try working on something a little more current.

And a 6 month warranty? How's that workin' for ya?

  • @tubefluid i agree this fucking guy is misleading ppl to believe a trans rebuild cost $695. A trans rebuild should only cost that if you jus replace the gaskets inside a transmission. The average transmission rebuild costs like 1,200. This is the kind motherfucker you need to avoid for repairs. I question this guys equipment, nd parts he uses inside ur transmission aka the most important part of ur car

  • @pharoh170 You guys must be one heck of a rip off artist ,I`ve started a shop in tenn, and I have already went threw several trannys gone past warranties and had a lot of pleased customers ..I can tell you that I used the est rebuild kits available and have never charged over 800 dollars and that has been replacing pumps and other broken parts,so just keep charging a rip off price,And I`ll keep fixing for an honest price,Oh btw I am making good money

  • @tubefluid I know one thing you transmission tech over charge people for transmission, It may seem like hard work but once it comes out that is the hardest part and no job should cost over 700 to 800 because hell you can get one on e bay and have change left to buy your family a meal and ride out to do it. I have notice this for sure that if you shop a round like the video says you can save a lot of money and find people that stand behind their work

  • @SuperDPEACE I'm not going to argue about the price anymore because it's falling on deaf ears.

And as far as "getting one on ebay"? Who's going to diagnose it for you when it doesn't work as expected? And are you going to gladly pay someone to replace it a second time?

  • Some of this information is great. However, shopping for the lowest price usually means you will have to sacrafice quality and warranty. Most things I have purchased in my lifetime that were cheap didn't work or last as long as I expected. With transmission repair, you are really buying a service, not a commodity. Like going to different resturants for a meal. Everyone uses different ingredents. Some meals are better and some are aweful. Choose you shop by talking to friends. Not price.

  • If you are having transmission problems and need a transmission replaced, call Street Smart Transmissions at (866) 980-6091 and we can help! We have installation locations in most states.

  • when the shifter on an an automatic transmission doesnt really move, and when it does it does it in a difficult and stiff mannor, and then i hear a huge clunk as the truck jolts......thats a transmission problem isnt it?......my friend just bought this truck, and asked about the transmissions, guy said he just rebuilt it, its fine, and if there is a problem int he first few months he'll fix it...havent seen him yet...grrrrr.

  • This guy is full of it. I have owned 2 trans shops. His example of a Ford Tempo for $699? If all it needs is a Torque Converter, LS Kit, Fluid and Filter, you are looking at say....$150-200 in parts. Then take into account labor, rent, equipment costs (Lifts, etc), insurance, electricity, software, scanner, water, landscaping, advertising, etc etc etc. It costs a lot to run a business.

  • this transmission shop over here says he will tow my car to his shop free of charge and tear down the tranny and see whats wrong with it. he says after that i can determine if i wanna go pick it up free of charge and deal with it later or pay them.

i made sure 3 times he said FREE Tow and tear down inspection.

Should i be worried or let him do it?

  • BEWARE OF THIS GUY. Being in the transmission business for over 23 years with an A+ BBB rating, I can tell you that what he is saying is misleading at best. Without tearing down the trans he can magically see if your pump, drums, ring gear and other hard parts are bad. To me, it sounds like he will either do bait and switch or do a such a cheap job, it will be lucky to last past the warranty.

  • Hello!!!. I have a 2001 L200 Saturn 4cylinder automatic transmission.the problem is when I start to drive put on drive it slowly goes until 25mph and then now I can drive normal. I put transmission fluids 2quarts and after runs great but four days later same problem. The car don't skip it just kinda hesitates

  • i have a 2005 saturn ion level 3 the connector is broken and they charge me 57000 dollars ......

  • I agree with a charge if you do not do the work!! I would never let this guy touch a trans of mine cause I know I wil have trouble.

  • It seems most shops find the cheapeast rebuid kits ($100) and then replace the broken parts with other used parts instead of doing the updates like the AAMCO shop I work for does for fact.

  • I have been in the trans buisness for 6 years working in different tranny shops and there is a difference on what you are getting. The AMMCO I worked is far the best quality. I can build you a junk yard rebiuld for 699 if you want ??

  • The problem of my car its hard to shift to first gear and 3rd and 5th gear i only have 2nd and 4th gear. what should i do. its a van. i already change the selector cable but it doesn't cure the problem. but when i use my hand to shift direct to the transmission it works.

  • Very seldom do you see free and cheapest in the same sentence as best value for your dollars spent.Todays trannys are very complex and electronics requires more than a guy who diagnosis by what he sees of feels on a test drive. Check with the BBB C of C & AAA.Check out an auto repair shop like you would a doc if moving to a new town. I'm sure you would ask for expert referal and expect a free tour of his office but would not be likely to get a free office visit with a medical professional.

  • Never go to a shop that doesn't diagnose for free? If a shop wants to diagnose complimentary then that is their choice. Again, in 1985 trans weren't as complicated as they are today. Diagnostic takes more time, scan tools and skills. It is nothing but a fair deal to pay something for that service.

  • 1. Look at this guy's haircut---$699.00 might have gotten you an overhaul on a car from 1979 in the year 1985. The complexity of trans, labor rates and parts costs have gone up in the last 24 years.

2.Unless he has X-ray vision he does not know the total extent of internal damage.

3.I agree to deal directly with the shop repairing the vehicle. However, if you have a GR mechanic you trust---why not let them handle having it fixed? Many trans shops wholesale to GR shops. Ends up at same price.

  • I've seen it all myself, when you see a deep discount transmission shop, they will give you a quote of any where between $299-$699, + hard parts, once they tear it down the hard parts will add to almost 2 or 3 times that price (almost always) even if there is no hard parts damage, they won't tell you so. it cost so much to fix transmissions because of the warranty , you're not paying for parts/labor only, you're paying for warranty, it's hard to convince people so.go to shop that honors warranty

  • iv been in the transmission business for 25 years. If you dont take it to aamco yoru getting ripped off.

  • it cost $1000 at least or parts alone on a high quality rebuild and hard parts are an unforseen cost to the shop. the rebuilder said he seen it all but i bet he never seen the right way to build a quality trans

  • the rebuild cost $699 and it had a 6month warranty that is junk.

  • I personally would rather pay top dollar if the shop did really good work

  • Referral from friends or relatives is a good start. However pricing repairs over the phone is pure stupidity. The way to save money is to find a "honest" shop who offers quality repairs with a great warranty. . I feel most "Honest" tranny shops can be somewhat close to estimating costs without inspection... however total parts damage still needs to be verified and without X-ray vision or a crystal ball... good luck.

  • Maybe this guy has x- ray vision. How else would he know what hard parts are damaged- inside a metal case- without removing and disassembling the trans. first. What a moron. Btw. isnt getting the best value more important than getting the best price? Why does this numbskull only want you to go to the cheapest guy in town? Cheap mechanics are cheap because they usually suck.

  • well if you get a rebuilt one then it's a standard quote as they have ALREADY been rebuilt and are off the shelf but you have to turn your core in and then they rebuild that one.

  • this guy is a joke. cheaper is not always better

  • I have worked on transmissins for 30 years. There is no way you can tell what hard parts if any are bad until doing an inspection. This guy is an idiot.

  • Wow. I wonder what this guy does when he needs to go to a doctor? No hidden costs.. what about hidden damage? Mounts, transmission control modules, batteries that don't have enough voltage to operate the electronics, these are all things that we see a lot of. Most people want a high quality repair with an ironclad wrranty, as opposed to some spit and bailing wire fix that this fellow seems to think will fix most cars. Band Aid repairs are somethingto avoid, unless you like to walk a lot.

  • If you can find somebody to diagnose a transmission problem and give a 100% accurate quotes 1 out of 10 times, by only using a test drive as a diagnosis. I will give you $1,000,000.00 if you can't, I get to shoot you in the nuts for being a panic spreader. DEAL?
