Well Crimson Avenger lasted for all of 13 seconds. I'm glad that Green Arrow and Speedy got a moment in the spotlight even if they got their asses handed to them in less than 2 minutes. Green Arrow is easily my favorite DC hero and Speedy the best side-kick. I mean he's a recovered heroin addict. Doesn't get much better than that.
The only thing that would make this funnier is if this happened to Batman and for his backup he got the Question and Nightwing (Dick Grayson, the original Robin)

Kid Flash's uniform also makes a cameo in the Flash museum in that Flash-centric JLU episode. Again, a nod to the show and fan service.
cool seeing the future Arsenal in this clip! i love captain eiling, he is kinda like the hulk but smarter and probably not as tuff. loved all the non powered heroes trying to survive against the powerhouse, good episode of jlu, one of the best.

But since the 1940s, Green Arrow and Speedy have way more powerful trick arrows, Stripesy has a robot suit and the new Star Spangled Kid (Stargirl) has a cosmic rod. That and Green Arrow is now a lot more well known.

The real reason the y used Speedy instead of nightwing was because this episode was a homage to the Seven Soldiers of Victory, an early group of DC superheroes from the 40's consisting of Green Arrow, Speedy, Shining Knight, Vigilante, the Crimson Avenger Star Spangled kid (Stargirl) and Stripsey (S.T.R.I.P.E)
The Bat-embargo had a special clause for Robin, who was in the Teen Titans cartoon for the duration of JLU's run. That's why they had to introduce Batgirl before Robin in The Batman. They weren't allowed to touch him till TT ended.
As happy as I am that Roy got some face time in any media the fact that they're booking him as Speedy kind annoys me seeing as I'm pretty sure if Dick is Nightwing by this point, cameo in an early episode, that Roy is Arsenal. I have a feeling it wasn't changed if only for having the Seven Soliders of Victory involved. Regardless though just happy my favorite managed to make his way into the series :D
After I saw this episode, I was all hoping that other sidekicks would come out. Especially NIghtwing, He's the shit. And maybe even some Teen Titans. That would have been soo badass!
Roy has been the only one whose actually ended up in the league out of the original and previous Titans. Nightwing had his own solo career outside of the Titans and The Outsiders but never joined JLA, Temptest, Bumblebee, Donna, Terra, Starfire, Raven, and Cyborg never joined groups other then the two Nightwing was in. Beast Boy was or still is in the Doom Patrol, can't remember, and Wally was the original Kid Flash and is a member.
Nightwing was a member of the JL Task Force back in the late 80's. He quit, and stayed a reserve for ages.
He then led the JLA during the Obsidian Age arc, till they resurrected the big seven. He quit after getting Batman back.
Batman quit after finding out they'd mind-wiped him, JL wanted Nightwing again. He told them to fuck off. Invited by the Trinity after IC, he turned them down yet again.
But Batman is gone again, so he has no choice in the matter. Nightwing (Batman, now) is in the JLA.
At 0:00 Green Arrow says "Bitch!"
