in my childhoof I always played it when i could, very good memories and some days ago I was in a shop an their layed a collectors edition with 1+add on, 2+add on and the soundtrack for just 10€ , of course I had to buy it.
I think I began playing this game when I whas 1 years old untill I whas about 6-8 (Ofcourse I picked it up and played it after but not as constant). I rember my Father playing it and my fathers brother to. So this bring back some really old and really good memories. I think I will beging playing it again.
Every time this song plays, I think of finding sheep. It was when I first began playing this game. I was so excited to find those freaking sheep. When I realised they could explore the map for me, I got even more excited. Then they wandered too far and became the enemy's sheep. I was traumatised as a kid. I wanted to keep those sheep. I told myself, "Never again." and since then, if I ever found sheep, I'd lead them back to my town centre and KILL'EM. KILL'EM GOOD.
@brute144 Ha, I was the WORST when it came building walls. I'd build around as much land as I could 'cause I wanted a huge empire but sometimes the walls would run into trees and lakes. If I have my villagers gather wood, they'd create these big gaps where the forest used to be and enemies and wolves would SNEAK in through those gaps all the time and kill the living stuffing out of my villagers. Ha! I wasn't a very strategic person when I was little. :P All I could think was "BIG KINGDOM! MINE!"
i remember playing this game for hours... those online matches would go on for so long but it was so fun!! too bad msn gaming zone took out all there awesome multiplayer games... :(
This may have already been mentioned before, but look up Gameranger as it still has hundreds if not thousands of people playing Age of Empires 2 and it is free.
WOW talk about a flood of memories when listening to this..
I remember playing this game almost nonstop back in 7th/8th grade. Now I'm 22 and working full time. Car payments, insurance bills, credit card bills, credit card bills... etc etc etc.
SHIT, I wish I was 13 again and the only "huge" concern was a 4-page research paper due next week.
The English are terrorizing ALL of Scotland, and its time for us to fight back! But if we are to defeat them, every one of us will need to learn how to MARCH AND FIGHT!
I remember hearing about stuff in history class, then rushing home to make it on AOE, fucking great times, i miss that game, i dont know where the fuck it is,
you can still play it via IP connect or using a third party online meeting program like Gameranger for example, it has worked for me when i wanted to go play. btw Gameranger supports Multiplayer over Internet for over 600 games now on PC alone
but maaaaan this song sure brings memories back, old and good memories, did you know that the engine in AOE II is the same as the one used for the first game.
AOE is epic and the best, vote yes if you agree with me.
This song makes me think about: - Poor villagers beginning to gather resources and start an empire; - The 30 recorded phrases from the game - Every single campaign and their heroes - The first town center (the ragged one) - The hypnotic movement of the villagers doing stuff - The early Middle-Ages - My childhood
@Naruto00122 Short for LAN Party. Basically, you get a bunch of friends together with computers, link them together, and play games. Nerdy, but immense fun.
Great music, great game. like so many other people this brings back alot of good memories. being a kid and having no worries, playing one of the best strategy games ever. When you play this game as a kid you would get so drawn in and really into the time period and all that. now though, if I played this I would get mad every time i was interrupted or reminded to do college work lol im gona buy these games again, so many good memories.
i love how on nearly every age of empires music video there are people reminiscing about how they used to play the game, and you can just see the nostalgia overwhelming them, even over youtube.
as i move through life, i will always retain a computer capable of playing this game. when my kids are old enough, i will show them it in the hopes that it will be as enchanting and educational for them as it was for me.
call me sad, this game is part of what made me who i am today :L
Hey tokwok2, going off of what you said, AE2 is what inspired to to be a history major in college. When I was little and would play it I was fascinated by the historical lessons that would play for each civilization, and I would read all of the historical descriptions that were pages long in the game. This is the most special game I've ever played because it literally shaped me into who I am.
@xChaud yeah but when i play more than 30 minutes, the music stops... i imported the sound in my itunes, the only bad thing is that there exists only one song with length of 30 minutes or longer^^
@Kempshaw it is on ur original CD, u can use CDEX to rip it. if u play download version u dont get music. If u want the music onthe back ground, just use media player to play it and then run the game.
@Kempshaw I use a CD with the mp3 files on there in the right folder (leave others empty) and as long as the songs match the call name of the program (AOE2) then they work. Sites have the downloads for le songs. :P
@Kempshaw There is a way to play the MIDI versions (from the trial versions - they go in \sound\midi in your AoE2 directory). Still seeing if MP3s are possible.
Such a wonderful game...back when Ensemble was around to make MSFT awesome. Now, we have AoE Online...pretty, but absolute trash compared to AoE2.
Memories! omagosh the memories that come flooding back to me when i hear this track.. times were so much simpler as a kid.. no worries at all...The campaigns taught me more about history than any actual school would.. The only bad point of this game was that ZONE had to close down which was one of the darkest days in history:(
the AI sucked playing against because they made so many damn bombard towers and took hours to destroy them all. for every one you destroyed another villager would just build another one....still a sick game online though
i gotta agree with like 95% of the ppl commenting to this vid/song.......man that were memories.....fighting the cpu with the japans as a kid....oh man....too good i still have the game
Yes, I played this game as a little kid all the time, and I love music like this and I'm sure I will for the rest of my life... I am a VERY nostalgic person
AoE2 was also my first game xwinddancerx, my dad showed me this game and i miss it so much and nothing beats any of the Ages but AoE2 was the best when it was on the Zone, still dont kno why they shut down the Zone, i really miss it tho
@hailTHEfail Dude this game is a classical that still holds up to the test time and playability. No one is going to give a shit about MW2 bu the time MW3 comes out. But this, this game is on par with like Morrowind or Fallout 2. You know, games that sticks with you. That always stays at the back of your mind and speaks to you as you play lesser games.
@kaiserkarlzoso no kidding, this game has been the source of my Zealish like addiction to history and that is why i only get A++++ in school so no wonder why i was the best in History class. and this game also helped me a lot with the small handy wiki inside, can be found in the first AOE but opens in a secondary non FS window but still pretty nice knowledge here.
Oh i know, what you mean. i found that game when i was cleaning up. there was a thick layer of dust on it. still reminds me of the good old LAN parties :)
I loved this listening to this song when I played Age of Empires II. I was so addicted to it, haha. It took my parents great effort to remove me from the computer if I had school the next day.
@MouthofSaurons same here man it is so damn nostalgic, kids nowadays do not appreciate true work of art like this.
half my life has passed since it was released, on that time a few houndred KB/S was unbelievable and gigabyte harddrives were in size of about 40-50 normally or up to 200.
heh it's amazing how fast games have evolved in a few years and advanced.
Once, there was a girl playing WoW. She suicide cuz her mom wouldnt let her play anymore, now they say she haunts the game and causes random disconnects. If you do not copy paste this onto 15 other videos within this hour, your internet will die, and so will you in the same night. Also avoid mirrors if you do not do it.
i played this game when i was 4, my uncle who is becoming a priest in taiwon showed it to me. its AWESOME. better than AOE 3. and the conquerers song sucked ... whoever convinced the makers of the song to not put in AOE songs is messed... this is my favorite song.. how can i rip out the songs from the AOE disc?
I like the way that if you just put the disc in you can rip all of the ingame music through a media player. This music takes me back to the days of dial-up.
lol do this, put in the conquerors Cd, and when you get to the main menu take it out and put in the Aoe2 cd in it, and when you play it will ply the same stuff as aoe conquerors exept it plays aoe2 music! :D

I think this track was unofficially the age of kings' theme. Amazing how much of a difference music can make when building an empire, lol.

This has been flagged as spam show
Once, there was a girl playing WoW. She suicide cuz her mom wouldnt let her play anymore, now they say she haunts the game and causes random disconnects. If you do not copy paste this onto 15 other videos within this hour, your internet will die, and so will you in the same night. Also avoid mirrors if you do not do it.

i played this game when i was 4, my uncle who is becoming a priest in taiwon showed it to me. its AWESOME. better than AOE 3. and the conquerers song sucked ... whoever convinced the makers of the song to not put in AOE songs is messed... this is my favorite song.. how can i rip out the songs from the AOE disc?
socrates2468 2 years ago
I like the way that if you just put the disc in you can rip all of the ingame music through a media player. This music takes me back to the days of dial-up.

Its a shame there wasn't an option on conquerers to have this music on it.
BlackSheep87 3 years ago 10

lol do this, put in the conquerors Cd, and when you get to the main menu take it out and put in the Aoe2 cd in it, and when you play it will ply the same stuff as aoe conquerors exept it plays aoe2 music! :D
