Before the advent of microprocessor, computer control/programming, elevators

were controlled by banks of relays in the machine room. If the hoist motor was

DC there would be an M-G (motor generator) with start run control relays,

changes AC-DC to power the controller board, and hoist motor.

i rode on one similar one day, and I saw something like this on mythbusters 'elevator of death'. How do those old elevators stop at the right floor with no computer?

There is, or was, something kinda' like this at Burbank Hospital next town over. Hopefully, they never tore down the old part of the building like they planned. Ultimatley, I don't think they did. Don't remember if it's public use or not. I don't remember stipulations on it.
