  • The only things I watch these days on NBC is 100 Questions, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Heroes. I wish I were alive during these good NBC days.

  • i agree and its that tradition and their past successes that NBC still cling onto for support its what keeps them still running

  • @kev0170 Me 2

  • I miss NBC in teh eighties. What the hell happenned to NBC in the last few years. Heroes and The Office are the only two good shows.

  • @zshaw7549 GADZOOKS!!!!

  • I LOVE this promo! Thats when TV was TV. That shot with Michael J. Fox on the NBC chair is classic! Not to mention, he pretty much owned the airwaves then. MJF rocks!

  • @56thAlbanyProd Long Live Michael J. Fox!!!!

  • Bravo (claps) to the performance. NBC 1986 should get its' own satellite channel (LoL). Historically, NBC was #1 in ratings (except CBS on some years), the oldest T.V. network in North America and managed to hold on to most of its affiliates in the last 60 years. It had "Alf", "Family ties", "the Cosby show", "227" and "Unsolved mysteries", plus the "Wonderful world of Disney" specials. I was like 6 years old, but saw the promos during Saturday mornings when NBC aired animated kids shows.+

  • and also "The Golden Girls," "Cheers," "L.A. Law," "A Different World," "Night Court," "Amen," as well that also helped NBC stay #1 for the late '80s and mostly to almost all of the '90s.

In fact, NBC at one point had both "The Cobsy Show" and "A Different World" tied with rival ABC's "Roseanne" for the #1 and #2 spots as well.

  • I wouldn't really call it a coincidence. NBC is very proud of its traditions, and so to show the old logos is merely part of its heritage. Remember, NBC is the pioneering of all the networks.

  • Isn't it a coincidence that in this NBC promo, you can still see some of the pre-1986 NBC logos floating around? Ex: Michael J. Fox sitting in a chair w/ the old "NBC Snake" logo on the sides and the old NBC Radio logo (in neons).

  • I miss these I really do...I wish we were able to remember our early infant years so I could experience this! Why couldn't I be born like in 1975 or something?

  • Man, ain't that the truth? I miss the '80s so bad... :c(

Mike, thanks for capping this! The only version I'd ever seen before was VERY poor quality, so this was nice. Do you also have the companion one with Jackee?

  • Does anyone remember the NBC: Just Watch Us Now and the NBC: Be There campaigns? Those were the best to me. I actually used to look forward to those every fall. That let me know school was starting back and the new TV season was about to start up as well. It just makes me think of the good times I had growing up and when TV was still good.

  • I fourth that. In '86, NBC thought Let's All Be There was too old and didn't fit with the new and current logo.

  • Agreed. And (just my opinion) that "Free to Be Together" campaign is the most uninspired, aesthetically-ugly, package (not nearly as nice as the WB's former branding). I know I sound old, but these 80s promos remind me that execs once took time to put thought and fun into their campaigns.

  • Totally agree, TheWB's last presentation package was much nicer then TheCW's.

  • I third that

  • I remember this! Michael J. Fox looks hot.

  • I happen to like the later 80s promos for NBC. I like the one Jackee did, also!

  • the Let's All Be There promos were better, after that it seems NBC really did not have catchy promos anymore.

  • Totally agree. Let's All Be was NBC's best promo of all times. It was such a success that they kept it for three years in a row.

  • That little jingle is actually from the 1987-88 season with the revised version of Come Home to NBC.
