  • Dont let go of the tube!

  • he never checked gag reflex and never informed his proctor to auscultate breath sounds. FAIL!

  • How do you know when to use this device? Our Medical Director, Dr. C., refuses to even have these as part of the supplies. The combitube anyway. He said they don't work very well unless the patient is larger.

In our area, two patients died directly resulting from a combitube insertion, even though they initially accepted the airway w little to no difficulty.

  • Our Chief Medical Director won't let us use Combitube.

Someone in our area died due to Combitube complications, and now Dr. C. doesn't want us to use it.

He likes either EOA or LMA insertion.

  • when he checks the equipment he should just leave the inflation syringes on.. cuts the time down, also he didnt fold over the tube 1 while checking tube 2 and vice versa for neg epi sounds and pos lung..this shits old or something..like the other guy said he also lets go of it also..they shouldnt pout these videos on here if their not going ot do it correctly

  • National Registry should be dis-continued, it's only getting those is Columbus richer by taking money out of the pockets of EMT's & Medics with their goofy registry!

  • holy crap...your absolutely right!!..we need a new system

  • Is he supposed to ventilate that quickly? I thought it was 1 breath every 5-6 secs? Also does anyone know if you actually have to hook up oxygen to the BVM in Oregon during this test? This guy totally failed cause he let go of the combitube at4:26.

  • hes hyperventilating

  • @notaprincess26 24 breaths per minute for 1 minute with no more than 30 seconds for each insertion attempt.

  • @TNFlightNurse I worked in health care 2 years ago, and the doctor teaching us intubation said you can take up to 45 seconds for each insertion attempt.

I'm really tired of each doctor having slightly different rules for every procedure they teach us.

On cricothyrotomy insertion, these 2 doctors had a heated argument about whether to make a vertical vs. horizontal incision-and I thought you always made a horizontal one.

  • In the first part of the video she asks if he has any questions his response should be "no, Ma'am." Use your manners.

  • how about tape the combitube in place... and the patient ready for transport...(atleast in oregon)

  • yea but this is just the test but he at least should of secured the combitube

  • Could you tell the viewer how much air in each balloon?

  • 15cc and 100cc i believe

  • it varies cause not all combitubes are the same

  • it is 100ccs and 15ccs

  • it depends on the manufacturer some times

  • J'aime la médecine

  • I hope this isn't the official "NREMT" video, you'd think this guy would practice a few times before performing the skill in front of the camera.

"I'm gonna ventilate the patient....um, after I measure and insert an OPA of course..." haha.

  • True. thank you :D

  • aaaa....what happened with the blade? what if you can't see the vocal chords or there is some sort of complication? wouldn't you need the blade then?

  • This is an airway isolation device, not an endotracheal device.

  • We don't use a blade with combitubes. They are a blind insertion device.

  • thats y. i dont like them

  • i dont like the fact that they dont provide great ventilation, and it doesnt protect the airway

  • youre insane, never do we ever hyperventilate at 24 breaths per minute. Not even a head injury gets more than 16 breaths. We cause more problems than we solve by your numbers.

  • Ideally you want to hyperventilate/Oxygenate for at least 1 minute at 24 breaths per minute and of course limit your insertion time to less than 30 seconds(You should only need one attempt as far as sticking). VOLS - Ventilate. Oxygenate. Lube. Stick.

  • Yea I did my practical skills tests yesterday and I wish I had watched these beforehand lol. I still passed them but still would have been helpful in studying. We were taught to hyperventilate/oxygenate before administering the 100% oxygen and before inserting the combitube.

  • bueno el video para el personal paramedico

    gracias

  • He is way over hyperventilation patient. he should be doing 1 breath every 5 sec. They only should hyperventilate before he inserts the combitube. I know at our national registry we would fail by doing that.

  • Most recent report I had read, and the way I was tested for the NREMT was that we were to assist ventilation with a BVM for two full minutes before insertion of the ETDLA. We were not to hyperventilate the patient.

  • And he released the combitube as well when he was inflating the little ballons. good vid anyway.

  • These vids are great prep. It's hard to just "study the sheets."
