  • @rvacia Everyone has their tastes, prosciutto is delicious, but I prefer the Spanish hams (jabugo, serrano, Iberico, etc ...), is much greater quality and flavor than prosciutto, spanish hams less known and internationally distributed, has the fame prosciutto.

  • @Absurus Spanish hams are really "overrated". First of all, to get a vey high quality product in Spain you have to spend an exhorbitant amount of money. This is unhetical to me. Moreover, Parma ham (as many other italian hams - San Daniele, Sauris...) have a sweet, smooth and refined flavour that spanish ham don't have.

  • @rvacia In Spain there are different kinds of ham, as in Italy, but the most significant of all is the Iberico, the autochthonous black pig is raised on the dehesas and feeds on acorns, which gives it a unique flavor. Parenting and the development of the ham is ancient and traditional, so they are expensive. I do not deny the quality of prosciutto, which is excellent. Is my opinion.

  • @Absurus Well, I totally respect your opinion. When I started living in Spain every Spaniard I knew said to me iberico ham was much better than italian hams. I lived and worked there for six months, without finding a ham which could be compared in taste and quality to a good Parma or San Daniele. This is just my personal experience. A "perfect" ham probably exist in Spain, but, as I said before, it cost 180 euros/Kg. Average quality is superior in Italy.

  • @rvacia I think Parma hame is so natural and distinctive that at its best it outshines any ham on earth... Culatello included and as a food tour guide I have tasted a lot of Prosciutto di Parma, San Daniele, Iberico etc. It is just something truly special... when you think about it the price is reasonable and probably creates the pricetag impression that it is not so good as others... this is just not true. It is the best.
