@Tj1056 thats what the cutts compensator is for dumbass.the thompson had a lot of recoil due to its high rate of fire and was hard to keep on target so they hired a guy named cutts to get rid of the recoil. He made a compensator that lets some of the gas out the top of the barrel pushing the barrel towards the ground therefore keeping it in the same spot because it keeps putting out the same amount of gas out the top of the barrel there for making it possible to dump a drum hitting your target

I'll explain. The tracer compound in a bullet is held in the rear of the bullet, so that it sits betwen the lead inside the bullet casing, and the powder. When the powder ignites, the tracer compound lights with the heat of the powder burning, then the tracer just stays ignited for the rest of the flight.

Sev89, the tip of the bullet is painted (usually orange or red). That is what the colored stuff on the tip is. The real tracing element is in the back end of the bullet and is ignited by the powder used to propel the bullet out of the barrel. Tracers are like a long FMJ, behind the lead where a regular FMJ would stop, is about 1/4" of tracing compound, all enclosed in the same outer jacket.
