This video ignores historical facts: Napoleon WON the Battle of Borodino and destroyed most of Moscow. And the ending, what a joke ! I don't recall France being occupied by Russian forces for more than a few days. I do however recall the Russian Princes and Royals speaking only French at their home in Russia, and then fleeing to seek refuge in France in 1917, where their families still live.
@Rachegotter , Both of the sides sustained terrible losses . Although the Battle of Borodino can be seen as a victory for Napoleon, some scholars and contemporaries described Borodino as a Pyrrhic victory.Borodino ultimately constituted a Pyrrhic victory for the French, which would ultimately cost Napoleon the war and his crown.
@Mr36white I think it was the taking of Moscow that marked the turning point. When the french army changed from being a goal-focused disciplined army to a looting, free for all mob who just wanted to go home and enjoy the spoils. The fighting spirit just wasnt there anymore after Moscow was taken. So home they went as fast as they could, with the russians escorting them out of their lands as best they could. Maybe the campaign wouldve succeeded if they had stayed and reorganized for the winter.
@ouimaisnon100 On September 1, a military council took place in the house of a peasant named A. Frolov in the village of Fili. The problem was discussed whether to surrender Moscow without battle or to take battle to the enemy. The opinions of generals were divided. The majority declared their view for battle. Kutuzov, however, raised an objection. He thought that the loss of Moscow did not mean the loss of all Russia.
@ouimaisnon100 Population of moscow was evacuated. On September 14, 1812, Napoleon moved into the empty city that was stripped of all supplies by its governor. After entering Moscow, the Grande Armée, unhappy with military conditions and no sign of victory, began looting what little remained within Moscow.
@ouimaisnon100 Moscow, comprised two thirds of wooden buildings at the time, burnt down almost completely depriving the French of shelter in the city. French historians assume that the fires were due to Russian sabotage.
@Rachegotter Learn history, then you will not look like stupid! Moscow was burnt by russian igniters and Napoleon was left without provision. That was his end!!!
1:03...Mosin Nagants?!??! Why bother putting together a spot on uniform when your weapon totally blows the impression! I was going to say "wow, nice uniform/numbers" but that ruined it for me. Farbs.
