  • I do wide grips with 45lbs and go heavy with 80lbs. Not doggin on you at all though. I get stopped by big guys that can't do 10 without weight, so keep it up man! Good form.   • @spartan1893 i was gonna ask same thing, after weeks of training pull ups i've finally got to the point where i can add weight. im currently doing sets of 5 with +35lb. im guessing like you said this guy was strength training 5x5 (or similar) and after he maxed out sets with +45 he decided to add reps instead of weight. i plan on doing the same thing but not sure about the best way to increase reps. the way i did it on bw pull ups was to add 1 rep every 2 weeks.. its a slow but sure process >_<

  • @E1337Si gud u know what i mean, someone finally...its a curse, no matter what i will not pass 5 reps no matter what, but i will do 5 regardless of the weight, i also found out i cant pass 14 reps, regardless of the weight sometimes, so i think its our muscle endurance, so ill try out the 2 week 1 rep thing...n yes the thought of it sounds soo slow tc :).

  • Wow that was good. I think my max is probably around 45lbs for weighted pullups. I'm trying to improve but my best is only around 8 reps with 27.5 lbs.

  • I'm impressed. I've been using a 45 lb. weight, per your video, to train for my unweighted pull-ups. I'm at 10 reps with the 45 lb. weight. And I can do 30 unweighted -- no kipping -- and it's documented on youtube. So I thank you for the inspiration.

  • @koolkid19931 yea, you don't have to do the push ups/sit ups part, but if you want a complete workout you can do that portion with little to no rest at all throughout the whole workout, takes me about 40minutes going all out, it's killer...but since you're doing weighted might take you 50min. and you probably wouldn't want to do weighted push ups or sit ups if doing the whole workout only pull ups...tell me how it goes, how long it takes you ect.

    I can do 7 reps with 35lbs and I weigh 175lbs but I'm really skinny lol. You look pretty strong though. It must be because of our height difference. I'm almost 6ft 1.

  • Awesome stuff man! You have an exceptional physique. I usually incorporate 20kgs of dumbbell resistance into my pull-ups, managing to crack out about 6-7 reps. It's definitely a lot harder than normal pull-ups but you seemed adept at them! Keep it up ;)

    I'm at the same body weight and I tried this for the first time today (chin-ups actually). Also with a 45lb plate. I knocked out 7 reps in two sets, 5 in a set, and 3 in my last set.

    So I know when I say this, good job!

  • on another note, the chin up bar ur using is the best type for me, the one at my gym sucks. its split in two and is quite low, so i cant get as much out of it. times ive been to a gym with the kind of bar ur using i always do much better. but as im 6'2 it has to be a high bar or i cant get the most out of it.
