@TheDarkSideHasTacos Speaking as a medic, I would like to point out that circumcision has been scientifically proven to reduce the risks of developing various diseases of the urinary tract. It is therefore my view that the benefits clearly outweigh any ethical implications; especially as there are not medically related risks posed to the patient in carrying out the circumcision procedure. It is for this purpose (and act of cleanliness) that the Jewish and Islamic religions encourage this act.

@Kash2291, if you're a medic, perhaps you can explain why no medical association in the world recommends routine infant circumcision? Some medical associations have supported it being outlawed. The foreskin contains more than 10,000 nerve endings and routine infant circumcision can result in death or loss of penis. Men need a foreskin.

In the first decade after birth, the foreskin is continuous with the glans penis. Therefore the practice of circumcision does pose a danger to the individual and there is a risk of losing the penis. This is why in most religions, circumcision is practiced just before onset of adolescence, in order to limit the risks

If I recall correctly, the Islamic faith carries out circumcision with the primary aim being to reduce one's sex drive to a level where they can control the hormonal changes in their bodies- and thus keep away from sinful acts such as adultery and sex before marriage. As you know, hormone levels rocket before puberty, which is why Muslim children are circumcised at this point

Circumcision isn't carried out solely on the basis of decreasing pleasure- the main concept is cleanliness and increased self-control. If you recall, I stated previously that it in fact increases sexual health by limiting disease probability, it doesn't decrease it. As I said earlier I am a medic and your question is now pointing towards ethics so I cannot comment on that aspect of things

@Kash2291, we have water in the United States, Canada, Australia, etc where routine circumcision used to be the norm. You can pull the foreskin forward and clean the glans with sterile urine if there's no water. Very simple and effective.

Resources are scarce, money is unevenly distributed therefore countries lack facilities and sanitation. You need to get out more and experience the world from the perspective of these people in third world countries. The function is the same and if anything it tends to look much nicer than a bit of skin hanging off the end and it tends to more hygienic and because of numbing the nerves it lasts longer in sex so therefore its in all ways better. I have no problem either way for people but to call someone's circumcised penis a mutilation due to its degraded appearance and function i think would get a laugh out of the majority of girls world wide.

@1stNightingale Get your facts right, look it up. All studies have proven intercourse is less satisfying for both partners when the man is circumcised. It also destroys a lot of sensation in the penis, so that is a fact. You have also changed the definition of mutilation written there, it said "appearance or function" not "appearance and function". The appearance preference is, of course, entirely dependent on the person, some will prefer cut and some will prefer uncut.

Many women say the pro-longed excitement from men and the cleanliness for oral are a benefit for them. Yes the senses are not as touchy but thats what alot of women like as men go too quickly.

And the only nation with a huge Jewish population is Palestine. Mutilated is harsh but it is correct. Mutilation means to inflict a disfiguring injury on. A partially amputated penis is disfigurement because a normal penis has a foreskin just like normal fingers have fingernails.

Disfiguring is another word we could look at but i think it all still comes down to the norm and im afraid more and more people are finding surgically circumcised penis's from birth are quite normal. Foreskin and nails are quite different to compare in uses and there consistent presence.
