Betty Boop is tanned as in Pacific Islander. Very scantly clad also. Look at 4:02. Are they throwing balls at a black person or an animal. Resolution is way to low to tell but that would keep it off the air.

I think it was banned because "spinach", was slang for marijuana. Popeye gave the the Viper / snake, (another slang word (vipers) for pot smokers ) just a whiff of what he had in his pipe & it knocked it out cold. Too obivious for the time 1930-40s.
