Iwas flipping through channels yesterday , and this film caught my attention. i watched the entire film, and its pretty good. Did soem research on it today to get a full understanding. If you havent seen it,then u should :)
this actress made this one film and then retired. or just never made another film I don't know which story is but I wonder if she just went insane and thqat is why the movie was found in the closet at the asylum.. lol maybe she brought it with her..
I first saw this movie on TCM on a Sunday night. It is so moving. The music fits the movie like a glove. I do cry whenever I watch this movie. They don't make films like this anymore. This is 1000000 times better than all the computer generated movies of today. The movies of today lack compassion and depth.
I agree with everyone here about this film. The music used in the Criterion Collection release of it is perfect, so much so that I can't imagine watching it without it. That said Renee Falconetti's performance as Joan of Arc is unbelievable. One of the most wonderful film performances ever by anyone. It is unbelievable to me that she never again acted in a film after this. She must have turned down dozens of offers.
i have been watching different clips - her face is stunning - absolutely breath-taking. her expressiveness and pathos... the story is is excruciating and and almost unendurable - unbearably tragic. i will have to be drunk to watch the whole thing, because i coudnt handle it sober. thank you for posting this gem.

I've seen this movie. It was good. I commend Dreyer for bringing to light one of history's blatantly unjust show trials. :)
