Thanks so much for this video and your articles, I used to hold some views about trans issues that I found very confusing. I used to feel really sorry for trans people, and felt like being trans was...I don't really know how to explain it, but I was basically a little transphobic in my own way. I think the media really, really needs people like you to stand up and say "Being trans is not a bad thing, not necessarily for the individual, and certainly not for society. Look at us and you'll see."

I think that people focus on making transition a negative thing and like this tragic "awwww, poor you" kinda moment but I know a lot of people who are in such a better, happier place now. You both seem super happy and that's really special, even more special because you are out there sharing your experiences.

I was browsing the LGBTQ tagged page a while ago and saw a post of someone saying something about whenever they get discouraged with their transition they remember where they were 3 years ago (or something like that). This is really interesting. Transgenderism comes with so much stigma, prejudice + hardship, but you can also get this really unique perspective, like you said, about how people treat you depending on your gender.

I'm a cis girl, + I find it just fascinating, for me, experiencing what its like to be male is as out of reach as getting to experience what its like to be martian, yknow? It's a cliche, (mars and venus) but I'm so interested in trans people's opinions and experiences with this.

@ImmortalChaos the "cis" prefix denotes a person who's gender that they were assigned at birth fits them properly (i.e. the majority of society) as opposed to "trans" which indicates a person who's assigned gender isn't congruent with their internal identity. Cissexual privilege occurs when a cis-person assumes that their non-trans status makes them superior to a trans-person.

What I like about being Trans is the Fact I got to see both Sides of Gender roles.

To dress and be myself is awesome, I am a Woman instead of a queer Guy.

I like the term "douchebag purge" I may have to borrow that! My experience in that area has really reaffirmed that I have great taste in friends an that I only connect with people who are open minded and willing to learn. I've been out a year and half and at this point most of the people from my high school know and I haven't lost any friends.
