  • The material is 0.063" thick 6061-T6 aluminum and was welded by a certified welder at 3M. The weld spot was approximately 1/2" diameter and the aluminum coupons were 1" wide by 4" long; spot welded area was overlapped by 1" (so, a 1/2" diameter weld on a 1" x 1" overlapped area). The adhesively bonded area was 1/2" overlap on 1" wide coupons.

  • Are the materials the same, what is it? Was the welding by a certified welder? Who was it (this would bring credibility)? A weld can be stronger than the material itself, so if done properly, the metal would break first. I doubt your glue would be stronger than the material.
