I have never used a radio, but am very interested and have been told to check out a hamfest. I now live near Dayton, is this a good show to check out? Do you know if they are having one this year?
Don't touch the buttons? I buying this thing and i can't even hold it? What do you think some body is going to still it or break that? There is probably more expensive ht's then that dude so just let them examine it...
@tehklutzking: When I bought my FT 250 from HRO in Oakland they had all there mobile radios hooked up so you could actually talk on em and I was encouraged to please look around the store and tryout the radios if I wanted. That guy from Yaesu should take a lesson.
What a doo-doo bag !! Don't touch the buttons? Isn't he supposed to like, make you want to get the product? He is probably one of them rich dudes that is there because he knows someone and don't know crap about the radio let alone Customer Service. Mr. doo-doo bag, YOU ARE FIRED!!
well ok if i was told not to touch the buttons i would just walk away and and go to another dealer who would be interested in me wanting a radio, I have had yaesu radio for years and that would have put me off buying one and for the sounds of it alot of people would agree
Don't touch the buttion...fuck me, He could be going to buy lot's of them...Any fucking way, when thay come out in the u.k., thay are going to whant 300 pounds for it...don,t touch the buttion's...he's right press the mouse and see what icom have on offer...man, that's the hole idear of going to the show...arse hole!!
Droped my vx-7r off of a balcony to the concrete below. Damage was a small dent on the bottom of the metal. The radio was still on and receiving when i picked it up. Its also spent hte last couple of years strapped to the handle bars on my bicycle, through rain, sleet, snow, and the ocasional sunny day(we don't those that often in oregon) I plan to do the same with the 8r and see how it fairs.
It will make a dent in the conrete because it weights as much as a brick and as big as one also. Hamburger boxes are good for commercial use, where it won't likely be mis placed, but not for consumer use.
how is the transmit audio on this radio? Have you had good reports of your transmit audio from other stations?

"dont push the button" probably means he does not know how to work the radio, and if you touch something, he won't know how to fix it!

Doesn't look as tough as VX7R. But the features looks promising.
Still love my VX7R, and this might be my next purchase.
Yum!!
