The fidelity for 1949 is absolutely perfect. Such balance! Great Mono. This was a radio transcription, probably early Magnetophon tape recording, live performance hence the audience background noise. Telefunken process
used w/the microphone directly suspended above the conductor, so you hear what Furtwangler heard. In the US Mercury used this process in their MG 50000 Series recordings, thru the 1960's.

The 1944 recording brings out the harshness of the ending much more vividly than this one.
