  • Gosh i wish they coulda edited that fool hacking away out of the recording

  • The 1944 recording brings out the harshness of the ending much more vividly than this one.

  • The fidelity for 1949 is absolutely perfect. Such balance! Great Mono. This was a radio transcription, probably early Magnetophon tape recording, live performance hence the audience background noise. Telefunken process

    used w/the microphone directly suspended above the conductor, so you hear what Furtwangler heard. In the US Mercury used this process in their MG 50000 Series recordings, thru the 1960's.
