He's truly a great guitarist, but they said arguably one of the greatest! hell no, you have to put zakk wylde, jeff beck, jimmy page, eric clapton, joe satriani, steve vai, stevie ray vaughn, gary moore, jimi hendrix, eddie van halen, angus young, kirk hammett, randy rhoads ect. and you can't argue with that, those people I mentioned were just the revolutionary ones.
Beside Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, and Vaughan all of the rest of the people I mentioned are alive. There are alot more that are better than him that I didn't mention as well.

I can give you a list of at least 35 people better than him who are alive. Off the top of my head: Eric Clapton, Kirk Hammet, Angus Young, Zakk Wylde, Slash... dadada
eric clapton maybe but he isnt the same style as kirk, angus, zakk or slash there all great but when he plays in pearl jam he sounds perfect as say if kirk hammet played in them it wouldnt sound right
When Pearl Jam first came around Rolling Stone worshiped them.When the band no longer became so easiy accesable to them RS bashed them..left them off certain lists ect...PJ is the best live show in the past 30 years,Mike Mcready in the top 10 best lead guitarist of all time
when rs reviewed the eponymous pj album... they admitted that they made a mistake and that mike and stone should both have been on the list... though it doesn't excuse the oversight
