@Trinidady00 Glad you liked the video and welcome to Mac! So here is the way to think of this - even thought your running Windows in Parallels, it is a Windows PC and as such is subject to virus's just like a real PC - so long answer but short answer is YES definitely! Have fun!
This is a great video, thanks for the tutorial! (wkharris) I did like you to give me an advice on the last part of this tutorial that you gave. how many cores and ram should you used on for Mac LionOS and Windows 7 (x64) ultimate to maximize performance? should i make trial of iteration on changes to fin the best point? i'm interested on buying a 13" MacBook (Air/Pro) with an updated quadcore processor and 4-8Gb Ram with 500Gb SATA / 256 SD of Disk Space.
@chuy5683 Thx for the comments and really number of core and ram depends on what you are running it on. Certainly I would not go more then 4GB of RAM on a laptop and you can tell it to use either two or all four cores, certainly more will get you better performance. In terms of the MacBook - stay with the PRO model not AIR, since the AIR does not have the processing horsepower you are going to want esp, for performance
@NYatesTriathlon You Bet! Just start up Parallels, click the + at bottom lower left of window and select New Installation (Picture of DVD) then when it comes up hit the drop down that says Install From... point and click to where you have the image or ISO file and you should be good! - Good Luck
lol, did you really just buy Win 7 just for this demonstration? How did you know how to do it, if you hadn't even gone through that process before? Or do you now have 2 copies of Win 7's? :) Mainly just ribbing you as it seems to be a commercial for buying Win 7 via parallels to I guess make them lots of commission - but really great video otherwise!
@DjNemes1s Actually YES I did buy Windows (and screwed up on the hiding the CC.. LOL) so that I would walk through the installed. I went through the process 3 -4 times before doing the screencast to make sure I know the flow, etc... Glad you liked it and thanks for subscribing.
Hi, i have the Ultimate version of Windows 7 on my Mac, did it with the PD7, but I can`t make the task bar to NOT appear and to make the windows programs to be on the dock. The windows task bar is appearing right above the dock, and it`s horrible! Please, help me!
can i play windows games like cabal using this parallel and win 7 on a mac? i've downloaded cabal on VMware and windows via mac but it doesn't work? hopefully this does.
@FlowFingazTeam Yes you can after the installation. Just have the VM running look for the VIEW Menu and uncheck the item "MACLOOK" that should then make the VM look like a regular PC again.
i found the video very helpful; however, i bought my windown home premiun but i dont know which one to install either 32 or 64 bit in my mac book pro.....
@wkharris Your credit card information is clearly displayed in this video for a couple of frames around 1:23. You might want to consider taking this video down to edit and re-upload it. Otherwise a great video.
Can you make a video of installation of a software (e.g. Autocad) in Windows 7 via Parallels? And by the way, can you customize the number of cores you will use while running windows 7 (e.g. 4-core in a Macbook pro). :) Thanks. :) I would really appreciate to grant my request. :)
It says that I should be able to change the Integration level after the installation. However, I could not find that option. I would like to test the Like a Mac since I could not drag and drop my files from Windows to Mac. Where do I change the Integration level?
@123456iambelial A few things - Make sure that Parallels Tools did install AND go into the configuration of the VM and check out SHARING and make sure SHARE WINDOWS and Shared Profile is checked. Next make sure you are running in Coherence mode if you want the Windows Desktop to disappear so the apps run like mac apps. Hope that helps. Skeeter
@123456iambelial With the VM running you can go to VIEW and the environment to run like a mac there. Also you can change sharing levels between MAC and WINDOWS via configuring the VM.
Informative..subscribed. I'm running VMware Fusion 3 and would like to switch to PD7. Do you thing you can do a video on the procedure without deleting the virtual machine? Need to know how to delete fusion and what folders need to be deleted before loading PD7. thanks
@eyefocus2 Thanks for the feedback ad the subscribe! Please give me through the coming weekend and I will have a video for you showing you the process of migrating to PD7, etc. One question for you! What are you trying to Migrate, Windows XP, Vista, or 7?
yo man i know you tried to blur out your credit card information but if you pause it you can see it before you blur it out. so if its your real information i would fix this immediately.
@wkharris no problem sir. appreciate the thanks. very good video by the way, will be picking up Parallels Desktop 7 for myself. But one question. Can I Sync my iPhone from the iTunes in Windows 7. I will have all my Outlook contacts on the Windows 7 VM and would like to sync my iPhone from there.
@gib88son Yes you can sync your iPhone to iTunes in Windows instead of the Mac. What you want to do is keep your iPhone unplugged fire up Windows 7 and then connect iPhone. You will be prompted by Parallels where you want the iPhone to connect to Mac or Windows - Select Windows wait for Windows to recognize and install drivers and then you should be all set.
@MECA62793 LOL... now I understand ... it's set for 1000 subscribers... I'll keep and eye on this and I have 2 more videos I am going to be working on that I hope will continue to drive subscribers. If 1000 ends up being too lofty I will lower it to say 500 since I want this giveaway to occur this year.
wait so what if i already have windows 7 (already bought it) i have to buy it again from that site or something else.....
