@WoWintosh You have absolutely no idea how much I agree with you there man. Mike Portnoy has my absolute FAVORITE snare sound of all time. Particularly on the Train of Thought album. I intend on getting his 12 X 5 snare soon. The reason the snare on The Dark Eternal Night doesn't sound quite as tight is that he used his 14 X 4 snare to record it as opposed to his 12 X 5.

.. it still moves me to tears nearly when he´s playing that beat from 2:19 onwards and the look at Testuo just adds up to that - Dennis knows exactly that he is just a notch faster than the other guys plaing unisono forcing them to have a hard time maintaining to stay tight together !!!! I myself did this a dozen times in rehearsal but the rest of my band always got confused and stopped playing ... it is a shame ... ;o) perfect musicians enjoing themselves here !

Dennis Chamber is my favorite drummer. He's been my drumming inspiration for many years. This video really captures him as a true artist and ensemble player. I'm blown away by the sheer emotion behind his drumming.

I've seen many videos of Mr Chambers and I've seen that he's always with a cheewingum.. but the most amazing thing is that he's playing with the eyes closed almost the whole solo. has anyone ralized it?

Mr. Chambers is a wonderful artist. His drumming is so interesting with many ghost notes filling in the gaps that many others leave unfilled. All that i know is that when listening to the shuffle grooves one the CAB albums, i ended up picking up a bunch of the snare technique just by listening. For about a year i tried to fathom the ghost note sauce that many drummers use, but it was the CAB cd with Chambers playing that nurtured my growth. Thanks Dennis!
