  • So what happens if I want a central blueray player or a ps3 and i want to have it in eveyroom. But I dont want to go to the media room to change the video or game.

    What is the solution there?

  • Dan:

This is a multi-layered question which depends on the number of HDCP keys, EDID information and just how you would expect to distribute the content in the home.

HDCP keys: you should be fine as the last time we tested the PS3 allows for 14 keys.

  • EDID may be an issue. DM tools can help you create logical pairings and help prevent undesired shutdown of devices or the switching to a lower resolution if additional display(s) are switched in. We cannot currently send one resolution to monitor A and another to Monitor B, it is not in the HDMI spec to do so. If you have mixed native resolution support and are willing to have all monitors at the lower resolution then you should be able to do this.

  • If you do not then using the DM tools you can make sure what gets used where, or in programming manage it. Running control or controllers (such as with the PS3) will be handled via the USB-HID port. Several DM card, Transmitter/ Receiver pairs have or will have shortly this ability. Remotes are simple enough to control by adding them to your control processor and an IR\serial connection to the device. The processor generally is in the same rack or equipment room as centralized media devices.
