I use a Mac Book pro with Logic (same problem with Garageband), I took down the recording level of the Zoom H2 to the minimum but my input level is still too hight... I get distortion.
I cannot find where else I could take down the volume of the input.
do you know what the deal is with bad feedback? my recording level is either so low garageband doesn't pick it up, or it's so high that my feedback is crazy.
Jaw drop saxophone at the beginning, thanks. If the Zoom H2 monitor output is plugged into an amplifier, could the Zoom H2 then be used as a performance (low volume busking with a loop station and reverb pedals) microphone? I know it's a clunky concept, but for my ultra budget a Zoom H2 seems to fulfill several needs at once, a nice digital recorder with decent microphones; a microphone (on monitor setting and plugged into an amplifier) and a usb microphone as illustrated in your video.
@snowypetrel this is my alter ego (I am Jazz Mark 4 too) no reason why not...... never tried it but is should work. You could get killer feedback though so make sure you are behind the speaker... condensor mics not great in that case. Might be better off with a very very cheap dynamic one (peavy make good budget ones) in case in rains or it gets nicked.....good luck!!
@crazydaisydoo I understand you wishing for a nice clean band channel away from the You Tube celebrity of crazydaisydo and all this entails (lots of questions and comments).
I may look at clipping a Zoom H2 to my sax bell as an effects microphone (I dabble in digital delay and looping and want to develop a live set-up) but I shall examine Peavey dynamic mics and others too, but they need a pre-amp and I'd rather carry a Zoom H2 than a mini mixer. I'm convincing myself to buy another bit of gear.
@snowypetrel Haha celebrity my arse, and I like questions... its just the inane ones. I noticed you asked me one that was not inane about Gear 4 Music saxes, but I was going through a tough time so was in lockdown mode :-) In answer, G4M are ok for people like us who can tweak and bend pads etc to make em work, but they are very cheap and cheerful.. Sound ok though. Mine G4M sop is great for camping (not as a tent, obviously) H2 is a very useful bit of kit, you won't be disappointed.
@crazydaisydoo I purchased the Zoom H1. My PC is so noisy I can't really use a USB interface. I'm used to taking wavs into Audacity and visually editing and mixing. The audio quality will be equal to the Zoom H2. I'm really looking forward to getting luscious saxophone recordings and taking the Zoom H1 outside for river noises, birds singing at 3am, slopping high tides and my Zoom H1 is in the post.
Sorry, but the title is wrong. You're uosing H2 only as a USB microphone. In an audio interface the sound goes both ways. Monitoring and playback should come through H2 as well.
@KalmoRa2 monitoring and playback can be through the H2, I just chose the built in audio as it easier to show here. I explain that at around 5.30. The H2 can be used as an interface, but a very basic one. Better than a USB mic tho at the price as is a great field recorder obviously
i just bought my zoom h2 and i would like to make some home recordings with garage band,.. but,,.. can i plug right to the zoom h2 already connected to the laptop a bassguitar or a keyboard?,.. or its better plug them right to the laptop... can you help me? i dont want to damage my recorder,..
You can do most of this in the H4. Its also a 4-Track Recorder! Listen to the backing track (headphones connected to H4) and record a track. I am thinking about avoiding latency problems in some audio I/O setups. Reverb and compression are settings available on the H4. H4n is a great improvement!
awesome! nice bossa tune by the way. cheers from Brazil!

Hey Mark, Check out my vid of Bach 6th suite for cello. I recorded it on a Nady Ribbon Mic. Sounds great on cello. Bet it would sound great on sax 2!
Good Vid
Peace
