1955 route finalised, 1975 - just twenty short years later, work commences!!!! During those 20 years, suburban Australia really started to pack on the pounds and spread. Railways declined so much. in 1978, the razor gang almost shut down half the Melbourne network for good. Amazing they made this at all!!
