  • Actually, the initial 'deflation' was not a deflation at all. The pilot simply stalled his glider because he was trying to prevent another frontal deflation like the day before. (Check his hand position at the beginning of the event.) Everything he did after that was a result of poor training, poor planning, and poor skills. Throwing the reserve was smart though. The only smart thing, unfortunately.

  • Now I finally understand why I'm not allowed to fly when it's thermal as a beginner ^^

  • That "idiot american in mexico" in the video description is uncalled for. He had a cravat and didn't react exemplary but that doesn't make him an idiot.

  • Let the wing fly, if not recover, then reserve, after landing on a tree, look to hook yourself and be securee.

  • Hands up and the glider will fly.

  • when he exited the termal his wing shot in front of him causing a frontal collapse in which case the best thing to do would be to leave the breaks alone...he SHOULD have put pressure on the breaks as he was exiting the thermal to prevent the wing from surging.

  • I noticed you were flying with too much brake on. That puts you closer to stall. Then when you entered the thermal, you did not let up on the brakes. Thermals yank the glider back and put you even closer to stall. But what happened to you was a collapse from exiting the thermal with so much brake on. Was the glider recovered?

  • You can hear the vario go up as he enters the thermal, then it suddenly drops. That is when he left the thermal edge, and when he got the cravat. The funny thing was he just finished saying on the radio how the edges of the thermal weren't as sharp as they were yesterday! LOL.

  • he shouldn't be flying something that'll collapse like that because of a fart,,,these things are the 3wheeler of aviation.

  • keeping cool there. I would have been shouting a steady stream of curses

  • Pas terrible son lancé du parachute de secours il reste avec le pod dans la main ???, mais apparement ça s'ouvre quand même. Il a eut de la chance que ça parte dans le bon sens.

  • ++ When you land on a tree, the first thing you should do is secure yourself and make sure you won't fall down ... removing the small branch from the line or talking to your friends isn't a priority. NEVER EVER get out of yur seat, wait for rescue.

  • oohh ok ill keep in mind every day i walk to my office!

  • I totally agree with Bateraiko ... when watching that guy's hands, you can see he's not very active and should have pulled much harder on the strings (of your martyr _TRIVIUM).. It should have reopened. Anyway, it's easier to say than to do, especially in such a stressful situation. He has waited for the last moment to throw reserve, which is a very good thing if you try to do something to reopen your glide.

    _I'm on the ground _loooooool

  • That's Valle De Bravo. I go there every other weekend!! Awsome Vid, the end is real funny!

  • I think there was too much talking in the radio. That could means lack of concentration. Am I wrong?

  • ouch...

     that looks like it hurt.

  • He had about a minute to fix the problem but didn't know how. He should have pulled harder on the brakes to open the cravatte(s), maybe even stalled the glider. He was clueless about what was happening.

  • I agree its scary 2 think that we r flying with those hu dnt no how... he could hav taken some1 out on his way down as there were other people flying

  • that´s a luky man!

  • cool footage!

  • Wally

  • that's quite incredible footage.
