They haven't actually revealed that much yet because they've just conceived the idea and haven't had the time to go into details, and if they have I haven't heard them. But it's pretty simple tbh: introducing a new tax for everyone who owns a home over £2,000,000 worth.

Because it basically involves doing a property valuation on every house otherwise how would you know? Also, there is the question of property values responding to taxation (now that IS proven with SDLT). Beginning to look like a can of worms...

Hmmm....I think you'll find that Governments do whatever they want. And again, how do you determine who is living in a £2M house? Land Registry prices cant do it as it only records last 5 years or so purchase price. Looks like everyone gets a valuation...and so it goes.

Look there is obviously only a certain amount you can 'fiddle' with house prices. You can't exactly go up to Buckingham Palace and say: "hmmm that'll cost £100,000". Determining the £2 million houses will be done like all other houses are priced now, what's the big complication?

You have to go to every home in the uk and value it. Every year. Cost is in billions. Markets respond to things like this. You cant suddenly tax someone £40K a year (on a £4M home) and expext them to take it; they move away. And take their businesses with them (their not all hedge fud managers.

Have you ever MET an estate agent? Incase you don't know, they sell houses. And they base the price on LOADS of things, eg. the location, the size, the neighbours, the view, the amount of land, etc etc. None of that changes with a new government.

I agree with the principle, but Nick clegg unnessecarily made this whole thing look like a gimmick when he increased the threshold from £1m to only applying mansion tax to those with £2m.

Saying it's unfair to apply it to £1m mansions, is a Tory definition of lower income being millionaires. Lib Dem leadership should stop diluting policies for the sake of a few affluent Tory voters, at the expense of loosing many many progressive voters.Don't alienate your base,or u might aswell be Labour.

I will give Credit to Nick Clegg for being honest about his views on reforming the tax system at the business forum that Brown and Cameron were at as well. That is when you show your a person and party of principles and people of any income status will respect that. I liked how Nick Clegg articulated in that forum that by alievating tax in lower income households, the money is spent for business people to gain in profits. So more people win this way. Keep to that message and policy.

Firstly, being a liberal is a good thing, the opposite is being authoritarian. If you knew your political science you'd know why being a liberal is so much better than being an authoritarian. Secondly, since the formation of the lib dems in 1988 they have got progressively more seats at every general general election.

Three, why would the lib dems have anything to do with our debt? The last time a liberal party was in power was around 100 years ago. Since then it has been a constant switch between labour & tories. Fourthly, you are naive. The liberal democrats are a centrist party. Advocating the 'third way', they combine socialism and capitalism. It has been proven countless times by looking at other nations (ie. Scandinavian countries, Japan / the Social Democrat party of Sweden) that the most successful countries are centrist/ centre-left, moderately socialist and liberal as in social democratic parties. Study politics and you'll understand why my view is more than justifiable.

Firstly, I used the past tense. The debt we are currently in the Lib Dems are not responsible for. As I've already explained they've not ever been in power since their creation 21 years ago, and they only have 70 seats in the commons (compared to labour's 400). So they cannot be responsible, the laughing stock that is 'New Labour' is responsible.
