You bloody liberal democrats have sold us out to the torries. For now on I'm voting for Labour. Unless, of course, you fix the voting system. Then I might forgive you and vote you, Nick.
You know what would REALLY be fair? Instead of figuring out who pays what % of their income in tax money based on what they earn, just have a single, fixed % that everyone pays, regardless of income. Or better yet, get rid of income tax all together and tax people based on what they spend instead of what they earn. THAT is fair, not what you just described.
Nick claims he is "behind those who work hard!" - But he'd love to tax my dad out of existence through "mansion tax" and various other income taxes. My dad has worked his arse off over the last 20 years to get to where me and my family are today, and all of a sudden Nick wants to take that which we have EARNED ourselves and shove it into the pockets of some illegal immigrants.
Vote Conservative, vote Labour, heck vote for anyone but this twat.
and another thing. They are setting store by getting a lot of 'green taxes' to create revenue. But if airlines close down, they wont get that revenue AND they'll have to pay the dole for all the private jobs they have destroyed...what a dizzy bunch of dreamers
And if you don't care about the environment, that's not my problem. To be frank, I find it disgraceful that we have so many alternate energy sources available, yet we stick doggedly to fossil fuels.
You don't have to close the airlines down idiot, there are less drastic and more gradual ways of dealing with climate change. Whoever said 'shut everything down right now!'? You are truly moronic if you think that's even remotely close to how environmentalists wish to deal with the problem.
what Im highlighting is that right now we have a rather urgent issue of employment and bsuiness survival (not just in the airline industry but thats a good example). Dizzy libdem dreamers dont know how the real world works.
YOU ARE A TROLL WHO HAS NO REAL FACTS. I've proved you are a troll already. This conversation is over as I do not converse with moronic losers such as yourself.
You are an idiot you really have no concept of environmentalism. Since when has ANYONE even claimed to want to shut down all airlines? You really are stupid and probably a troll, as nowone is that ignorant of the actual workings/intentions of the environmentalist movement.
And what i don't understand is, how can anyone be having a go at the Lib Dems when there is the Tories and Labourites to be having a go at. As OBVIOUSLY if you really want to talk about past mistakes, they have many more to account for.
I can't make anyone listen on the internet, so I honestly don't care, but people are obviously listening to my message if not me in particular right now, because the Lib Dems popularity is soaring.
By the way, I was addressing you when I asked for a Libdem fanatic to explain the details of how the mansion tax would be assessed. I am sure you know...
They haven't actually revealed that much yet because they've just conceived the idea and haven't had the time to go into details, and if they have I haven't heard them. But it's pretty simple tbh: introducing a new tax for everyone who owns a home over £2,000,000 worth.
OK, I'm going to be patient and reasonable with this. It is actually VERY important how the mansion tax is assessed. Because it basically involves doing a property valuation on every house otherwise how would you know? Also, there is the question of property values responding to taxation (now that IS proven with SDLT). Beginning to look like a can of worms...
And then there's the not unimportant issue of it creating an entirely new 'tax vehicle' (like green taxes) and the sinking feeling that soon we will all 'be living in a mansion'... Get my drift?
NO because they can't just 'tax' every house, there is already a tax for this lol. It's purpose would overlap this one. This tax is supposed to distinguish the 'rich people's houses' and tax them.
Hmmm....I think you'll find that Governments do whatever they want. And again, how do you determine who is living in a £2M house? Land Registry prices cant do it as it only records last 5 years or so purchase price. Looks like everyone gets a valuation...and so it goes.
Look there is obviously only a certain amount you can 'fiddle' with house prices. You can't exactly go up to Buckingham Palace and say: "hmmm that'll cost £100,000". Determining the £2 million houses will be done like all other houses are priced now, what's the big complication?
You have to go to every home in the uk and value it. Every year. Cost is in billions. Markets respond to things like this. You cant suddenly tax someone £40K a year (on a £4M home) and expext them to take it; they move away. And take their businesses with them (their not all hedge fud managers.
Have you ever MET an estate agent? Incase you don't know, they sell houses. And they base the price on LOADS of things, eg. the location, the size, the neighbours, the view, the amount of land, etc etc. None of that changes with a new government.
so now the plan is to use estate agents? hmmmm. they sell houses, true, but are not professional surveyors and I can imagine a risk of downvaluations for 'freinds'. and again. valuing every home; the cost is? they wont do it for free you dizzy dreamer!
And I'm not a fanatic, you're just pretty annoying considering that you are slagging someone of with no good reason. And it annoys me when people just vote for Labour or Conservative (like you probably will) because they are brainwashed into believing that's 'the norm' and every other party is 'radical' or 'weird'.
I always hear little kids or idiots going: "I'm voting Tories!" because, for some reason, they think they're cool or because they think that's a 'wise' decision. When actually they have no idea about politics or their policies, and like sheep, they don't think for themselves. they don't actually look the parties' policies THEN decide.
I am really intrigued by how they would know who's house was worth 2 Mill so they can tax them 1% (per annum?) extra. Can any fanatical Libdem enlighten me? I really havent read how they propose to do it.
i love the lib dems! because they could have anyone as their party leader & knowbody would take them seriously! i mean kermit the frog could be the party leader and they still wouldn't get any more or less support
I agree with the principle, but Nick clegg unnessecarily made this whole thing look like a gimmick when he increased the threshold from £1m to only applying mansion tax to those with £2m.
Saying it's unfair to apply it to £1m mansions, is a Tory definition of lower income being millionaires. Lib Dem leadership should stop diluting policies for the sake of a few affluent Tory voters, at the expense of loosing many many progressive voters.Don't alienate your base,or u might aswell be Labour.
I will give Credit to Nick Clegg for being honest about his views on reforming the tax system at the business forum that Brown and Cameron were at as well. That is when you show your a person and party of principles and people of any income status will respect that. I liked how Nick Clegg articulated in that forum that by alievating tax in lower income households, the money is spent for business people to gain in profits. So more people win this way. Keep to that message and policy.
I think you'll find that they put the Mansion Tax threshold up to £2M because they dont want to lose constituencies like Richmond Park. I wonder how they are going to do the valuations?
Ooh; they have some 'radical' tax plans. I am just not sure that taxing a few mansions and cosing some looholes is going to afford you to take hundreds of thousands out of the tax net. Especially when you realise that pretty soon whoever is in charge will have to slash spending brutally AND raise taxes. I could be wrong, eh? Still, nice soundbites for the telly.
You are an idiot. If their tax plans are so 'un-radical' then why was the mansion tax given so much attention on BBC news? Just one tax? And if you do not see how much of a problem tax avoidance is you are so naive. It's disgraceful how much tax avoidance there is especially amongst the rich, which is so wrong because the rich should be the last people avoiding paying tax.
And they are making anyone who earns less than £10,000 a year pay NO taxes at all, and they are making anyone who has a house over £2,000,000 have to pay an extra tax. THAT'S how they are raising and lowering taxes douche bag. Next time you want to slag someone off, listen to what they have to say properly or do some research instead of making arguments based on prejudices.
haha; it's an angry liberal! well seanyboy, it really doesnt matter as they're not likely to win are they? Have u any idea of the debt we're facing? Numbers arent really Libdems best subject I guess. Why dont YOU do a little research on how much money the UK owes. Even the tories are going to put up taxes u twit. And stop calling people 'naive'; u just sound silly.
Firstly, being a liberal is a good thing, the opposite is being authoritarian. If you knew your political science you'd know why being a liberal is so much better than being an authoritarian. Incase you need a quick fill in for a newbie to politics, liberal is opposite to authoritarian, and socialism is opposite to capitalism. The extreme of capitalism is neoliberalism, the extreme of socialism is communism, the extreme of authoritarianism is fascism, the extreme of liberalism is anarchism.
Secondly, since the formation of the lib dems in 1988 they have got progressively more seats at every general general election.
Three, why would the lib dems have anything to do with our debt? The last time a liberal party was in power was around 100 years ago. Since then it has been a constant switch between labour & tories. If you actually knew their policies perhaps you'd understand why I have more faith in them producing an economically sustainable Britain than the other two parties.
Fourthly, you are naive. The liberal democrats are a centrist party. Advocating the 'third way', they combine socialism and capitalism. It has been proven countless times by looking at other nations (ie. Scandinavian countries, Japan / the Social Democrat party of Sweden) that the most successful countries are centrist/ centre-left, moderately socialist and liberal as in social democratic parties. Study politics and you'll understand why my view is more than justifiable.
Sounds like you've read the Ladybird book on politics (these people are on the left, those people are on the right, etc...). Forgive me if I dont really buy into your 'proven' theories. You really are tiresome and saying the Libdems have nothing to do with our debt proves what a dizzy dreamer you are. Maybe you think that if Libdems won an election the debt would be written off?
You are really a laughable nutter who is about as brainwashed as a religious fundamentalist. I think if you actually knew some politics, like myself, you'd understand my statement. I'll go through it step by step for your simple mind.
Talk about fundamentalist; you must belong to some kind of extreme Libdem fanatical wing. You also seem to have a problem with other people questioning your opinion. A sure sign of a fanatic.
Firstly, I used the past tense. The debt we are currently in the Lib Dems are not responsible for. As I've already explained they've not ever been in power since their creation 21 years ago, and they only have 70 seats in the commons (compared to labour's 400). So they cannot be responsible, the laughing stock that is 'New Labour' is responsible.
And to say that the terms 'socialist' or 'anarchist' are made up by me, just shows how phenomenally dum you are.And now that I can answer what I never mentioned, will they make the future better?
