What most people dont realize is that "mega churches" that really do chase after the heart of God are the ones funding the small village churches in places like Cambodia, Darfur, you name it. They dont boast about it because being able to boast is not the point. I've been going to Church of the Highlands for close to a year and while I knew we funded missions and help start small churches I only recently found out to the extent that it is being spread.
For example we have missionaries in Iran who have help start over 100 Jesus loving, Bible preaching, Christian churches. And Iran is just one of many countries we have missionaries in. These people arent after money or fame. Theyre literally risking their lives by doing what they do because they want everyone to come to know Jesus and what he did for us.
Alot of people that criticize large churches and call them money hungry are looking at it from the outside and they dont want to take the time to truly see in. Funding missionaries, constructing buildings, founding churches, giving out food and water both here and overseas, funding doctors to administer medicine in places that otherwise have no access to it, helping people physically escape dangerous places; it all cost money at some point.

I can not make judgement. How ever I can state that from recent actions in my own church. All of its members were at fault for not reading and acting on what the bible tells us to do. I have been going to Hillsong for 2 years now during what has been the worst time of my life and have found the leadership to be extremely caring, supportive and empathetic. Hillsong may have a good income but it is also extremely benevolent.

@AirJuvi43 3 Jn 2 says God wants you to prosper. He also wants to supply all your needs. Prosperity doesn't mean to be rich. If you need lots of money to do something, like support an orphanage, God will prosper you that way (aka George Mueller in the 19th century). Prosperity means being whole, which is what Jesus came to do - to bring wholeness to the body, soul and spirit. If it means being rich, so be it. But you don't need money to be rich. You can be rich and out of God's will.

What most people dont realize is that "mega churches" that really do chase after the heart of God are the ones funding the small village churches in places like Cambodia, Darfur, you name it. They dont boast about it because being able to boast is not the point. I've been going to Church of the Highlands for close to a year and while I knew we funded missions and help start small churches I only recently found out to the extent that it is being spread.

Funding missionaries, constructing buildings, founding churches, giving out food and water both here and overseas, funding doctors to administer medicine in places that otherwise have no access to it, helping people physically escape dangerous places; it all cost money at some point.

Every church has its critics, so I won’t take much notice of this.
I have been going to Hillsong for 2 years now during what has been the worst time of my life and have found the leadership to be extremely caring, supportive and empathetic. Hillsong may have a good income but it is also extremely benevolent.
True Jesus was a carpenter but nowhere does it say he was poor.

Obviously Hillsong makes a whole load of money. People buy their CD's and go to their concerts, and shirts, and accessories, etc. As a Christian I'm aware that most Penthecostal and Evangelic churches make a whole profit. They are rich and wealthy and joy of many luxuries. However even though they have a lot of money, you can't deny that the songs or messages haven't helped people look forward to something. Or that the songs touched people's heart. There's always some good and some bad about it

Once again, another first world person,posting craze vids up about money issues in the church.If maybe you lived in a country that was riddled with poverty like mine, South Africa and were exposed to it everyday.You would get off the case of Hillsongs and other ministries,that are reaching out to the poor,and focus on the billion dollar organizations that are but a stone throw away from your bed room window.Get real son,come see how the rest of the world lives.You need a wake up call

Having money is NOT a sin, the LOVE of money/Greed is, Being Prosperous is a Promise of God to his people, thagt we shall not want for anything as our Lord our God will fill every need.... This is truth that the people of God will be persecuted... yes they made money, but how much of that goes back for utilities, maintenance of their property, and payments to the employees they need to have on hand to keep the ministry going???? The service isnt free, its too much work to be free.

just because a church is rich doesnt make it evil, church's often buy prime realestate so that they have a good location for people to meet at, safe and convenient for the congregation, is that evil?
Also it's obvious that you don't have your facts straight anyways, the bible was not written by hundreds of authors, it was written by less then 60 authors.
You seem so focused on past things they may have done wrong but u dont look at the good that they do now

Well, there is a lot more to Hillsong Church than money. They give time, love, and energy to God and to his people. That's what the church is doing. You say that the other amount of money wasn't spent anywhere. It was used to keep the ministry alive. They know what's going on in the world, and they know who they are serving, but they need to keep the ministry alive to keep changing lives.

God will burn gays. I am a supporter of the Jesus Christians Community and they witness that God will send flaming arrows to kill homosexuals. Aids is God's punishment to queers. I am a devout Catholic and I know that MY God sees queers as deviants. They should be punished even on earth. I would put my boot into the back of anyone queer who came near my family. Yes, sin will be punished. But Jesus also came to save sinners and once they are His, they are forgiven.

We as Christians should be compelled to love people just as Christ showed love to them. The Bible speaks out against homosexuality, but it also speaks out against lying, murdering, cheating, adultery, stealing, thinking bad thoughts about others, etc....I'm sure you've committed one of these in your lifetime.

The 'prosperity' Gospel is a lie. I've struggled with both my health and finances the last 2 years. I follow Christ with my whole heart and am generous with the little money I have. Does not being rich and in perfect health mean something is wrong with me? Of course not!

@AirJuvi43 3 Jn 2 says God wants you to prosper. He also wants to supply all your needs. Prosperity doesn't mean to be rich. If you need lots of money to do something, like support an orphanage, God will prosper you that way (aka George Mueller in the 19th century). Prosperity means being whole, which is what Jesus came to do - to bring wholeness to the body, soul and spirit. If it means being rich, so be it. But you don't need money to be rich. You can be rich and out of God's will.

If God owns the UNIVERSE then why should his people be poor. Of course if they are putting Jesus out there, the Bible says that God will Bless them. It has nothing to do with money really, it has to do with Faith and our personal relationship with God. Everyone has their own personal experience with God. Only we know the intimated details of that relationship. Don't worry what others are doing, worry about working our YOUR OWN SALVATION.

There is no problem with being a rich Christian it is just out of lack of truth from the Bible that people criticize prosperity in the church. "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" If you think prosperity will lead people away from God, then it doesn't matter whether rich or poor, because faith does not come and go with wealth. Rich unbelievers are the same as poor unbelievers. Proverbs 28:20 says "A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished."
Obviously Brian is a faithful man of God.

@6556169 By that rationale, here are some other churches that have mud thrown at them and therefore are proven to be "living churches": Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Identity (AKA White Supremacists)... Of course, any obvious CULT like Hill$ong and the others mentioned here will have mud thrown at them; it doesn't "prove" anything except that they aren't fooling everyone with their nonsense. The church isn 't perfect. but bashing the church is just not cool. you forgot to mention the stuff they do behind closed doors. they spend tons of money and time serving and working with orphaned kids and people dying. i only know this because a friend worked with them and saw what they do with out telling the world. do a little more research before bashing on them

Look I am an ex AoG bloke , possibly never to go near it again ..But Jesus is Real , hes a real mate and he isnt part of this thing ..It seems as if Tania Levin has a problem with Hillsong that transcends an honest objectionable approach to this semi church ...therefore she like many others who talk about this thing are disqualified by their own negative outlook and lack of objective criticism .
