i think most people who get one dont realize how hard it is to take of one. But owning one is not out of the question. Do your research have money because they are not cheap to maintain and you should probably dedicate an entire master bedroom for this creature and prepare to clean clean clean. Really you should probably have a few because they would be happiest this way. They are social animals and need ALOT of attention and alot of space. They will throw threw poo and pee on you.

Please read the information about Carlos. He was very special and not a toy. We had a zoo in NZ and cannot have one as a pet. They require lots or attention and can live for up to 40 years. Do not buy one ..Go to your zoo and volunteer and work with them, love them and learn about them.

Actually they are. They get aggressive when sexually mature. I had weeper and tufted capuchins for 17 years (they were breeders not pets) and I loved just observing them on a daily basis. Monkeys do not make good pets. They are very destructive too. And most owners have the monkeys teeth pulled to cut down on the biting,but they can still inflict damage even without teeth.

Hes having alot of little seizures. You should have a vet or a neuroscience doctor who specializes in the surgical work with seizures to see if it could be fixed with surgery and development of study and treatment of epilepsy. There are alot of surgical procedures there doing in people to treat epilspy. They could try and locate or identify the epicenter and surgically remove or isolate it.

I spent a few months working with Capuchin monkeys in a sanctuary in Bolivia. In this case, given Carlos's health issues it was right to care for him as he would not have survived in the wild but otherwise Capuchins should not be kept as pets. As much as i loved being around them they are social creatures and need to interact with other monkeys. If you want to get up and close with them i suggest you go and volunteer like i did rather than buying one off the black market as a pet.

Monkeys need several diaper changes in a day. They need 24 hour attention, access to a good vet that has experience with monkeys, lots of space, a huge cage thats easy to clean and disinfect, no new additions to your family, someone who will be responsible in taking care of them if something happens like if you died, and the list goes on and on. They are not easy like children and need expensive care too. If cleaning shit everyday for years and years is ok, then learn about them before you buy!

Personally I think it's fine to own monkeys. I'd love to own a Capuchin myself. But yes, you have to do your research and have the appropriate space for them to live in...at least a VERY LARGE backyard.

Essentially, you should own a sanctuary of sorts and attain a liscence to have captive animals such as this one.
