@CausuaGamer Did you get any replies? The Dark Souls Wiki actually has a great progress recommendation. But basically I'd recommend the lower undead burg and the depths. But, be sure to buy several purging stones from "sir hugs-a-lot" who you meet below the first bell. You'll be tempted to use all the souls for levelng... don't. Almost everyone gets cursed at least once while in the depths (which is only cured by purging stones at this point in the game). Don't stress.

If Dark Souls were to be made into a movie, it would be at least twelve hours long in which time the main character would die at least a thousand times. He/she would be plagued by terrible and poorly scribbled advice like childish graffiti on nearly every surface in the same orange chalk. In the end, he/she would restore his/her humanity only to be invaded by a high soul level villain who would then slay him/her, gesture rudely, and proceed to burgle his/her things. It'd be a big hit in Japan.

Robo, if you want to attack that black knight at the top of the tower, you should sneak up on him and backstab him then roll backwards, run down the stairs and go down the ladder to the right. Once you reach the bottom, hell return to his position facing away. Then go up and repeat this until he is dead.

easy way to farm souls if you have not killed the hellkite dragon or the dragon on the bridge in the undead perish or burg. the staris beneath the bridge that lead to the room above the bonfire. go to the bonfire the enemies on the bridge will respond go up on to the bridge just enough to trigger the dragon into using his breath of fire then run back underneath the stairs and a whoping 555 souls should come to you just go back to the bonfire and repeat the process.

So far as I know, you've pretty much gotta go through Darkroot Garden (the forest) first. But then again, you can always sprint through New Londo and find a safe spot there (dunno bout that, never got past the 5-ghost room).

@monktryface You have to find fire keeper souls, one is found behind the giant knight in the parish that ghostrobo fought a few episodes ago. Take the fire keeper soul to that lady that can't speak in the firekeeper shrine (down the steps from the bonfire)

Yeah ghost if you're going to fight something fight it. Don't go bite off more than you can chew. What sense does it make to attack something and then run away? Just fight it. Also don't block so much. Dodge more instead.

You can kill the black knights pretty easily with parrys and counters. They attack slow so its easy to time.

Over-leveling on the other hand, is different. Sure, you work a lot to get to that level but the challenge, one of the most essential part of the game is gone.
