You have some really beautiful fish man! so jealous of that tank! must of cost a fortune. I want a fish, but I've never really had one before, apart from one I won at a fair which didn't last very long :( Any tips on what to start on, I've been looking at Cat sharks, cause they look kinda groovy :)
WOW good job man keep it up ignore the dumn ass loosers who knows nothing about sharks and leave stupid comments here i see a real nice healthy looking sharks i actualy have a 800 gallon tank do you think thats good for 1 black tipped reef shark and one bamboo shark or what ever that shark you have in there pls respond
im normally against having sharks in a tank, most people are ignorant retards that have no knowledgement and just think its cool to shove a shark in a tank thats to small for them to even function. but you have a great looking shark in a tank that is plenty big at the moment. good job doing your research..tank and shark both look great! keep it up!
great sharks shame about the twats commenting - put the dogs in with the sharks while you watch the fun with the cat on your lap . p.s. keep up the good work
Remember, people with exotics (though a few neglect their pets/animals), most take excellent care of them b/c of their high cost to obtain them--an investment should I say and they take pride in their animals & keep them healthy. Cats and dogs are fairly cheaper to obtain and since you can get them from hoarders and mills, you can clearly see the problem, except where exotics are not feasibly kept in small areas or city limits w/regulations banning their possession/contact w/ the public.
Hopefully, they'll do something about the cat and dog hoarders and put them in prison and take their right to own another animal away. Overbreeding these domestic animals and ferals has gotten too out of hand. Puppy mills and unhealthy animals being bred by idiots and profit-seeking people need to stop. It's the responsible people and loyal pet owners and conservations who will end up with the licenses for the right to own animals. Like the one in this vid is provid. proper care :)
(These are animals that are bred in captivity, not taken from the wild except way back when but to save the species from extinction, to study and learn about, care for, raise disease-free ones, and promote education. If one day, all the animals die off in the wild, we still have the ones in captivity which is a good thing and can put those species back once and if properly rehabilitated. I see a big future in planting trees & animal species conservation. Cats & dogs #s too many now.
As long as a person has the money, a healthy, disease-free pet, space, time, knowledge and a vet on staff and is careful, I see no reason why people cannot keep exotic animals as long as it's thriving and promotes research on that animal's care and preservation. Animals' habitats are disappearing and we must do whatever it takes to save each and every species. Poor animal husbandry & hoarders are to blame for the animal problems. Not 'responsible' pet owners or conservationists.
I am studying exotic animal medicine as well as all animals. I am hoping many will follow so they'll be a future in expanding the field of medicine for new pets people are acquiring. I know the venipuncture sites in fish and sharks and have successfully drawn a blood sample from a catfish. I expect to see more exotic practices open up to the public to care for the wild animals for species preservation as well as people's pets. More facilities too for animal care & education, exhibits.
this is one of the coolest fish tanks ive seen on youtube, i want to have a fish tank just like yours, having a shark is possible the coolest fish you could have, now if we could only pay scientist to shrink great whites into great white mini's then the perfect aquarium could be created but for now your aquarium is as close as they get
@liammclester so how bout fishes in pet store dont they belong in the wild how bout hermit crabs or your pet dog yea your sounding very arrogant as i bet that shark is bred in captivity and cant be released in the wild for it will die cause no one takes a shark out of the ocean and keep it as pets and your saying poor shark why dont you go to asia and have shark finned soup then let me hear your thoughts about this guys PET
This guy must be retarted or something. Black tip reef sharks grow to about 6 feet max. this is a baby, and only a total retard would keep one in a tank like this! No theyre not endangered but still you're a fu^$%^$%^ moron.
Nice!!!! I caught a 10" black tip shark yesterday in Galveston and wanted to bring it home soooooo bad. My tank is only a 150g so I had to release it. Great job on the tank!!!!
One of the best home aquarium shark tanks I have ever seen!!! Well done mate!!!
It is a beautiful aquarium!
The tank is in fact one of the largest I have seen housing sharks, please don't worry about what anybody says, I'm sure you know what you are doing and made sure of the facts before getting one. Can you please tell me what equipment you are using for your large tank? I want to do one similar but slightly larger at 30' x 15' and 48" deep - I am making it a snorkelling shark tank.
sharks do not actualy have the capacity to swim backwards and the shark looks fine to me . i love it . infact a lot of sharks have to be in moving water to actualy live and im sure if the black tip male gets to big then the man will get a bigger tank . i get all that moaning from people about overcrowding but knowone considers this and they obviously dont open thereeyes and see that the fish are happy . feeding is a sure sign of fealing comfortable in there seroundings . i agree sirniblet99

Typically 5.2 ft or 1.6m but this is in the wild. If they are got when they are pups they will adapt to the tank and will not grow so big but it also depends on feeding regime.
That is a very common mistake, marine animals do not grow to their enclosure, there growth is actually stunted because very few people can give them an appropriate diet for them to grow to full size and health.
You think the wild is actually better? If you guys only knew all the thought that went into that tank you wouldnt want it anywhere else but there. It was thought out so much the shark can swim against current or with it depending on its direction. lets all work on forming opinions but maybe realizing you only get to see a video.... and again um the fact that a complaint about it not being the wild AFTER the BP crap... hmm again i say the wild might not be better.

18,000USD for that tank, i can build that for half price.. with acrylic and round corners!!!!!
Nice shark, do you still having?? Just as C&C, next time get a circular or round corner aquarium, so your shark dont get hurt [no matter what you think or said]..
And try getting a Bonnethead those only grow around 5feet and still being a requiem shark ..
BTW 950USD for that shark, i think your are just putting more numbers than really cost you or you are an asshole with lots of money...

what did you feed it for real...I am interested. Awesome tank by the way...I hope to have a 2000 gal soon, and would love to have a reef shark as a baby. Not sure what to do when he is older though. Thanks!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol LOL LOL.. i feel so bad for the sharky. You and you alone are responsible for it's death. You fed it live neigbhorhood cats? do you have down syndrome or something? seriously dude. That one was all on you. You killed that shark you dumb shit. Good job.
You can get one in Mexico for 300-500USD 30cms long, but there isn't a lot of people who bought them fortunetly.
that was a good tank, the only 2 defects it doesn-t have rounded corners, and its small for an adult shark, but otherwise than that, looks great, hope some day this shark be modified into a "small" variation... hahaha..
What you can get, thinking in your tank, and a requiem shark could be a Sphyra Tiburo, does dont grow a lot and are amazing..
hey i was curious...i was gunna set up a tank that is 12 feet x 5 feet and 3-4 feet tall...is that plenty for a black tip? and whats the thickness of the glass going to be? im building it my self
I was reading the comments and as soon as I got to the last paragraph I said "Oh that's a relief, I thought he was serious." But I do wonder how much of that is true.
OK the main thing here is not keeping sharks as pets!!!!!!!! I cannot believe people go back and forth on the comments section lol a shark died and you are arguing??????
@Benno828282 Actually there are quite a few species of cat sharks that do very well in captivity provided they have ample space (180g minimum) and ample filtration. However, a pelagic shark (must remain constantly swimming in order to pass water over the gills) is NOT suitable for residential keeping and is best left in the wild or to professional large aquariums.
Is he a great white shark too? hey megaladon is a prehistoric shark that died million years ago and now great white sharks invovled to the human world is this true? nice jaw movie pet lol
@BCT182 quick question, I want a black tip reef shark, and i want to keep it for its entire life, the problem is, people tell me i need like a 20,000 gallon tank + for that. i have a 2,360 gallon, is that enough?
OMFG YOU FED IT STRAY CATS! i love cats and i think you are the sickest fucker ever! go dunk your head in a pile of shit! i hope you die! like seriously, CATS! i hate you so much if i knew you i would blow your brains out with a shotgun!
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! i mean these guys r sick, feeding them stray cats, and (u dident mention this) but when it out grows its tank, U TELL US TO CUT OF ITS FINNS AND HAVE SOUP!!!!!!!!! I AM AN ANIMAL LOVER, AND HAVE SAVED PLENTY OF CATS AND DOGS, AND I AM A FISH KEEPER! and insted or taking a life, just sell it. how would u like it if ur family out grew ur house and pllz killed u and made soup with ur limbs!
i know! i own a dog a cat and many fish! im like you,i absolutely love animals! but the guy told me that the discreption on it was fake, which is good
i know man, me too. i have many pets myself and my house is an animal sanctuary full of nurtured wildlife , possums, ducks, ect (as my mum is a RSPCA wildlife carer).. but seriously, you can't seriously believe that a shark that size would eat cats??? or let alone believe that the abortion agency place would let them have an aborted baby to feed a shark!, and i knew he was being sarcastic when he said in the description " cut off its fins with a RUSTY BOX CUTTER".. its just common sence
@flyingSnakess lol i feel like an idiot, c when i read discriptions (wich i always do, i hate when pll make comments without readin the discription) but i skimmed through this 2 since it was long, i guess some off it didnt go through my mind lol, now as i read it over, i competely agree with ya lol :p
i dont think u should be a fishkeeper for saying i shouldnt, u dont no me, i am actually not that gullable, but i have seen many sick ppl in this world, and like i said i skimmed throu it, i dint read all of it (well i tryed) so i missed some parts, if u missed some of the parts i missed, u would be the same way.
Well then, no offense, but you should really read through something if you're going to comment on it... You could tell he was joking by the stuff he actually said... I mean I'm 13 and I can tell, Don't be a hypocrite by saying then "I don't think you should be a fish keeper for saying I shouldn't"
well, i am around the same age as u, anyways, like i said, i always read the discription, but since this 1 was long, i skimmed, now i apolagized, if u red all my comments, u may have noticed, i said i srry, and i felt like an idiot for actually beliving it, and i am sorry i said wat i said, i was kinda anoyyed that U would say that, i am srry, can we drop this, this is a silly reason to have a fight.
lmao... hhahaha yeah.... its totally natural for sharks to eat live foals, like i mean, they do it all the time in nature.. what with all the horses in the ocean..
It's spelled fowl you idiot, you're going to beleive his description? you wouldn't touch him in real life, I mean really guys how gullible can you get..
The idiots are all the people moaning about the shark fin soup. The whole point of him saying that was to get across the point of how creul they are in asia, and other places, just for some soup.
you retards on youtube actually think hes serious?
i think your more of a threat to society than he is to black tips :s
How do you keep that tank looking so clean of algae? I noticed you have a refugium, Does this help keep your nutrients down to keep the algae off your liverock? Good Job, Seriously... It takes great patience and knowlege to keep those priceless animals thriving.
P.S What other forms of filtration do you use on this setup?
do you think i could get away with keeping a baby black tip reef shark in a 80 gallon tank? if not, are there any sharks that would be compatible as babies in a 80 gallon tank
BCT182 I feed my Blacktip dead New York City rats. Of course I boil them before I throw them in. Except one time. It was still living ... what a fighter. 12 Seconds.
@eggmanburrito have you seen the size of the shark sweetie? i'm sure once he gets bigger, he'll most likely get a larger tank to suit the sharks needs.
@eggmanburrito Your kind of an idiot. 1000-1200 is the minimum recommended. This tank is fine for him, especially considering the total water is 1400g.
Plus, since the tanks dimensions are mainly in width and not very tall, it is perfect for the shark. For example, if it was a 1000g cube, it would be too small. But since the tank is 5ft wide and 11ft long, its fine for the shark.
Do your research before calling people dumbasses, you dumbass
A swim tank for any reef shark species should be at least 500 gallons per foot of shark. Now remember! I said a swim tank! That alone is a huge difference between a reef tank for show and and swim reef tank. Most of you probably already know that but this is for the novice that thinks it would be cool to own one.Not to mention the substatial amount of work it takes to maintain a monster ocean aquarium weighing it at 10,000 gallons or more. The filtration and lighting alone is a astronomically costly
I can get you anything that you want.I also build reef tanks 10K gallons and up.Yes I said 10,000 gallons and up.If you want white tips, black tips, lemon pups etc I can get them. You may get in deep shit for possessing them but I can get them. The tank in this clip is way to small for that black tip. Even if it were the only thing in the tank it would be small of an environment.
You are the biggest fucking dushe I've ever seen. You try and act humane by stating "The tank is way to small for that blacktip" but then you offer to sell me illegal sharks, one of which the lemon that gets 3-4 feet larger than the blacktip. If the rule is 500g per foot of shark, why then this shark has room to grow. 18" long in a 1000g. I guess maybe I should move him down to a 750g. I've talked to faggots like you before, bragging you can "hook people up" in this industry. Fuck you liar!
Sup Dude lovin the vid, Studying wildlife science and marine diversity at college atm and going into a degree in Marine Biology really interested in the sharks, Especially blacktips is there any chance you can contact me with a "Not-so" sarcastic response to questions i may have about them? if so ty!
you people fucking amaze me, if you cant since that he is being sarcastic and laughing at your ingnorance then plz, get stoned out of your minds and mellow the fuck out, jeez he didnt ask for a lecture and your not his mamma so shut up with the negative comments, its a bad ass tank that i admire, more than adequate for what he has in the now at its current size. i think ill put 8 nurse sharks and a great white in my 55 gal. tank to piss you all off, dumb asses
FUCK OFF YOU BEAST! CUTTING OFF ITS FINS IS ANIMAL CRUELTY! Do you know how many people are trying to stop others from doing that to sharks?! You must have a big imagination if you think its fins can grow out again.
Awesome tank bro!

Blacktips are good eating. I catch them a good bit about 15 to 40 miles offshore from Wilmington, NC.

minimum space should have been 1200g in my opinion. Even that is pushing it. it was cruel keeping an awesome predator like this cooped up.

what did you feed it for real...I am interested. Awesome tank by the way...I hope to have a 2000 gal soon, and would love to have a reef shark as a baby. Not sure what to do when he is older though. Thanks!

yournamehere954 1 year ago
You can get one in Mexico for 300-500USD 30cms long, but there isn't a lot of people who bought them fortunetly.
that was a good tank, the only 2 defects it doesn-t have rounded corners, and its small for an adult shark, but otherwise than that, looks great, hope some day this shark be modified into a "small" variation... hahaha..
What you can get, thinking in your tank, and a requiem shark could be a Sphyra Tiburo, does dont grow a lot and are amazing..
Take care dude...

LUVDATPUSPUS69 2 years ago
@BCT182 it is too small.
ncharrison 1 year ago
@eggmanburrito have you seen the size of the shark sweetie? i'm sure once he gets bigger, he'll most likely get a larger tank to suit the sharks needs.
MissOceanGirl 1 year ago
@eggmanburrito Your kind of an idiot. 1000-1200 is the minimum recommended. This tank is fine for him, especially considering the total water is 1400g.
Plus, since the tanks dimensions are mainly in width and not very tall, it is perfect for the shark. For example, if it was a 1000g cube, it would be too small. But since the tank is 5ft wide and 11ft long, its fine for the shark.
Do your research before calling people dumbasses, you dumbass

cool tank!
sirengrove 2 years ago
A swim tank for any reef shark species should be at least 500 gallons per foot of shark. Now remember! I said a swim tank! That alone is a huge difference between a reef tank for show and and swim reef tank. Most of you probably already know that but this is for the novice that thinks it would be cool to own one.Not to mention the substatial amount of work it takes to maintain a monster ocean aquarium weighing it at 10,000 gallons or more. The filtration and lighting alone is a astronomically costly
AmericanRenegade1776 2 years ago
I can get you anything that you want.I also build reef tanks 10K gallons and up.Yes I said 10,000 gallons and up.If you want white tips, black tips, lemon pups etc I can get them. You may get in deep shit for possessing them but I can get them. The tank in this clip is way to small for that black tip. Even if it were the only thing in the tank it would be small of an environment.
AmericanRenegade1776 2 years ago
You are the biggest fucking dushe I've ever seen. You try and act humane by stating "The tank is way to small for that blacktip" but then you offer to sell me illegal sharks, one of which the lemon that gets 3-4 feet larger than the blacktip. If the rule is 500g per foot of shark, why then this shark has room to grow. 18" long in a 1000g. I guess maybe I should move him down to a 750g. I've talked to faggots like you before, bragging you can "hook people up" in this industry. Fuck you liar!
