@EXiS091 Cams push down on the valves. Cams change duration and lift in the intake and exhaust valves. Meaning the duration the valve is open and how wide the valve opens. Ya have to know a bit about engines to understand. The more air (oxygen) in the cumbustion chamber more power. Thats what turbo and super chargers do force air into the motor. You can have the exhaust valve open wider and longer making the motor evacuate those exhaust gases more easily.

@VIPBullseye Best and most simple way I can put it is this. A big camshaft generally has a lof of duration, with a lot of lift. Duration on the cam determines how long the valves are open or closed. the longer they are open, they more power it will make due to greater volumes of air entering the chamber. Lift determines the length of travel of the valves. Big lift means the valve opens farther from its closed position than stock. combination of big lift/duration = more power/higher powerband.
