im not sure how this relates to drugs. the doldrums is a band around the equator that has virtually no wind. it would trap sailboats and keep them stuck there with no means of escape. The phrase to be in the doldrums relates to being stuck or in a slump. milo is merely being trapped by the creeping effects of laziness and boredom.

I find "out of context" can lead to a lot of misunderstanding and strife, but that may be beyond the scope of this particular situation, nevertheless, I want the truth out there so people don't get the wrong idea. This happens to be my third favorite movie of all time, and I've been around the animation block, so to speak.

As a fantasy writer, and totally not interested in even drinking anything with caffeine in it; like soda and/or coffee... it's insulting... besides, who really believes just being on drugs makes you an artist? Where did that idea come from? Maybe it's because powerful art tends to stem from trauma, and drugs are a way of dealing with trauma, if not in a good way?

I can see the humour in that, I'm not trying to take you too seriously. What I was referring to is other cases kind of similar to this when someone assumes that you absolutely have to be on some kind of drug to do something creative, strange, different, etc.

I do believe that *some* of the cartoons created during the mid '60s-early '70s had a VERY psychedelic look and feel to some parts.
