I got the rod before but I havn't noticed any glowing portal's....I guess it's because I missed the first one that the others didn't light up.

yes you can... you lose nothing but story related items like keys etc.

i didnt get the rod,but i did light those candles

i just didnt know you could jump over the fucking rope,cant believe it was that easy

and btw you can go up steps and it'll still work

Great video... A pitty it doesn't work for me. Followed your instructions religiously but the freaking candles don't show up. I used fire to kill the arches as you instructed not to go through the stairs... But I've seen other videos where people go through the stairs to kill the arches and it works. Funny that no matter what I do, it doesn't work. Guess I'll have to restart this freaking game... :(

fuck i got through 9 chapters without getting that. Why can't it be a save mode like Halo or Gears, where you can go through any mission you've beaten without having to restart the entire story. I HATE SLOT SAVES.

Yea - there are so many aspects of this game that are good - but then it ruins it and makes it average by having so many fucking things that are fucking gay as fuck. Like putting 5 bosses in a row all with a bunch of monsters around them so you cant hit them cos of the stupid auto target, giving you no save points or healing items between them - and having gay boss fights where u can only shoot a bow...and SAD FUCKING SAVING SYSTEM where you cant even restart a level. Retarded as fuck.

And it is particularly annoying for me bcos ive already completed it and missed the Rod of trials - so i have continued the game and messed this up so now I have to play through chapters 3-14 just to get back to 1 again to get to 2 to get the rod of trials - do game designers just do shit like this to piss consumers off?

I got this game a week ago, played up to level 8 without knowing about the tests of valor and having missed the rod. On level 8 could not pass the sub boss because of lack of health/nippo.

So here I am starting again on chapter 1.

The saving system is bollocks, but it's still a great game. C'ept for the camera. BTW- I beat NGB on hard.

You can go up an kill the archers, all you gotta do to light the candles is make sure you kill the last ninja that runs down the hill in the court yard. And they come so slow that you can spam some UT's and get some extra orbs :P

i started playing my first ever time on the hardest mode, and i have already started again due to missing weapons ( i didnt know u could buy em after :P) but now i am again. just start again and when you get to the part u were on it will be alright

Certain items that you don't find in a chapter are available to buy in Muramasa's shop during the next chapter. Weapons, Life of the Gods, Spirit of the Devils, and Jewel of the Demon Seals are the only items I've ever bought.

You must have missed them, They were in the building where the ninja's jump down from the ceiling and attack you in the village.

If you miss a weapon you have to buy it (I THINK). Don't worry it happened to me for like 4 weapons.

how do you activate the tests of valor? can you miss them or does it like give you the option to do them or what?

The test of valors are accessed through portals made of circular stone patterns found throughout the game. Having the Rod of Trials only activates the portals. You don't need to enter the portals; the only thing is you'll miss out on the essence collected from the enemies and what ever the prize item is when you complete it (i.e. Lives of the Thousand Gods, Talisman of Rebirth). There is also an achievement for completing each one.

I actually didnt know that those candles held the Rod, but the wierd thing is, i fought way less than you, and the cut scene appeared way earlier than yours. There probably is a faster way to get it.
