One of the most influential bands to me and my music. '94 and although you hear clean vocals and some melodies on Unorthodox and The Spectral Sorrows albums, this one here broke through full blast. If technically and theoretically going back to see/investigate where Melodic Death Metal came from you can def say EOS was 1st and then came the rest. Not counting the 1st album but elements could be found like I said on the 2nd and 3rd and finally Purgatory Afterglow they found their niche!

I wish I could listen to this song for the first time again. Then again, I wish I could listen to a lot of Edge of Sanity songs for the first time again.
Fans of Edge of Sanity should check out Whetstone! Our music is heavily influenced by the music on Crimson, Crimson II and Purgatory Afterglow, check out our channel!
hey hey hey hey hey hey hey guys. edge of sanity is awesome but i'm sorry to say, pink floyd is one of the most awesome bands on this godforsaken planet.
so please enjoy the music of both bands and let the music carry you away. :)
@PinkFloydrulez Well generally when you change a word of something to make it an offensive name that could offend fans of said band that's generally an insult
@MarsBringerofWar19 if you like it, check Nocturnus, and especially the album The Key, you''ll be amazed by the perfect atmospheric mix of death metal and keyboards
I first heard this on Bill Peter's Metal on Metal show on 88.7 WJCU back in 1994. I was impressed by this band. Edge Of Sanity was a great band. Too bad they didn't get the recognition they deserved for writing such great songs.
I first heard them from a sampler CD I got in a mag. Can't remember the name of the mag, but "Edge of Sanity" left a lasting impression on me! Been a fan since 1994
I listen to this band for the very first time, and I'm curious about how they could pass my eyes unseen the last few years. Simply amazing. Be sure for me to buy some copies of their work.
@MRINFO3 Definetely, it almost made me crazy after hearing the song for the first time, I couldn´t sleep the next night because it kept playing in my head :P
edge of sanity always reminds me of old opeth or scar symmetry or something along those lines of epic. with the great classic melodic death metal riffs
So I was going through my old cd's and thought about how long its been since I heard this, was epic when I first heard it on a sampler cd in 94 or so, and still is. Glad to see people still talking about it...
I was listening to sooo many death metal bands in the last 10mins, and I thought I found a great song... till this one made my old favorite death metal song sound like a pop song
That isn't Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth is it? Because I know that he appears on one of their albums I'm just not sure which one. The growls kind of sound like him.

Used to listen to this album every single morning while getting ready to go to school!:> For years... One can never have enought of that kind of music!
I just came to this because of a youtube play list and wow is this good. You guys should check out the playlists more often, they can bring you to some really good stuff.
True. One time, I was wearing my Amon Amarth shirt to school. It says 'Twillight of the Thundergod' on the back. A girl came up to me that day, she said to me: 'OMG, why does it say twillight on your shirt? Are you a fanboy or something'.
