  • so let me get this straight. i take years getting used to the touchpad with the buttons, and now my hand is going to have to completely learn yet another touchpad. this is one of the reasons i hated the mac pro and returned it. i hate that the touch pad is also the buttons. it is very annoying. i would be scrolling and suddenly it would accidently click on something i didn't want to click on. it also weakens the touchpad.

  • I might just save for a vaio though. Not sure. I actually don't know what laptop is good for me with all the choices.

  • does the 14 inch version is good for latest games?

  • MacBook Pro Idea Stealer = HP. I'm so ashamed. I was so inspired by your originality when you guys released your HP Pavilion Artist Edition Laptops, so creative, so original. Sorry to say, you guys let me down.

  • SSD drive

    = Solid State Drive drive

  • @g4qber 4 sum reason people still say it lik atm machine

  • Im a student of architecture, have got HP 7i 720 17inches and it is very fast 4 rendering and stuff like that...

  • The ASUS G73 JH Is wayyyyy better than this.

  • Everything that guy sed is this is a clone of the Macbook Pro with a shitty operating system.

I am sorry HP, this is a great computer. If i can put OS X and run it as good as my new 2010 mid macbook pro. I would get it.

    Sadly it cant.

  • This is a shameless mac copy. pc companies are sometimes full of crap. They KNOW it looks just like a mac.....but they wont tell you

  • Comment removed

  • @Codeyellow07 Yes, it similarly designed around a macbook pro. But the specs are so much better. Run OSX on here if you like it better and it would outbeat everything for a macbook pro.

  • One of the best Windows based laptops out there. Will seriously be considering this or the Macbook Pro.

  • Comment removed

  • like this if u agree, it would look waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better in black, and no laser cut designs. its cool but there should be more than one color and stuff. also, they should include beats studios with ALL their models including these ones

  • @Tu51ndBl4d3 YES!!! One of the main reasons I was going to shell out extra money for the LE version...looks sleeker and apparently won't burn you after extended use. They're gone now though. >:| I want an Envy but he laser etching annoys the shiz out of me.

  • I like it... but still like the Mac. :/

  • i gotta say ive had a HP laptop, they are cheaply built they only last a year... after that incedent i never bought one again btw theyre warrenty is garbage aswell! i bought myself a mac and a sony...and by far its better than this peice of shit any day, nice try HP just make your products in the USA instead of shippiung the from africa -_-

  • @2short1990 i agree. it makes me very nervous that the warranty is only 1 year. seriously? i am supposed to pay 1,088 or whatever for something that is only guaranteed to last a year? yeah right. i am currently typing on an hp pavilion that's display is being held on with duck tape! only had barely two years of use (barely because it was my father's backup that he barely used at all)

  • @chattychar right after the one year of use the display came off the hinges. i come to find out that hp does this on purpose so you have buy a new one. don't believe me? open it up and you will see that screws used in the hinges are the weaked pieces of garbage. they would be better suited for putting together a kid's jewelry box that you win at chuckie cheeses.

  • I love Apple design, but Apple doesn't own simplicity. I believe that was invented in the 20s. Fair play to HP for being brave enough to use simple design over flashy rubbish. They have become a worthy competitor for Apple in design stakes.

  • Apple technology is ridiculously outdated, the bastards are charging 2k for fucking the previous generation core 2 duo processors.

  • @mythicalness

what are u talking about? the 15 and 17 inch laptops use i5 and i7 cores, those are 2010 man. and no im not an apple fan boy, i dont even have a mac LOL just stating what i kno

the 13macbook though uses a core 2 duo, but its only 1149 dollars, is the core 2 duo slow?

  • Does the hp envy 15 come with an external cd drive and the extra 9 cell battery?

  • almost identical to my macbook pro. obviously no imagination went into making this, no original ideas and even minor details are copies of the mbp

  • (cont) because i didn't read. after reading specs on both the macbook pro AND the envy, i now think the choice is simple. hp wins. and i believe i'll get the envy 14 when it comes out.

oh, and everyone saying that this computer copies the mac, it's not like you designed it, so why so defensive? that is all :).

  • Comment removed

  • reading these comments is hilarious. i'm not a "fan" of hp or macbook, but it seems as though those who like the hp did their homework. they have better reasons of liking the envy other than "macbook's sooooo much better". that's not even a reason. i must admit, i wanted a macbook pro initially, but after spending a few hours comparing the specifications, the envy wins hands down. i wanted the macbook pro because of popularity, and i knew absolutely nothing about other laptops (cont)

  • Very expensive to what its really worth. HP needs to lower the price, increase videoplay back quality and it will be top class

    we want 16" Please !!!

  • Give the people what they want, they want a apple macbook., But its too expensive and shit. so HP gives them the decent specs and a style they want. Supply and demand peopel

  • why did they copy apple's crappy 'buttonless' trackpad.. i mean WTF its a pain

  • LOL! First of all, I must say that I really love HP. So any fans, don't take this the wrong way.

However, THEY TOTALLY COPIED THE MAC PRO'S KEYBOARD AND TOUCH PAD! Like, almost 100% of a copy! They even offer back-lit keys? Sound familiar? A one piece touch pad? with no separate buttons? Sound familiar?? xDD

Still though, this whoops ass. i7 and i5 models, cheaper than a Mac, better GPU, more RAM avaliable, cool battery add-on idea, this is a sweet sweet idea HP. Great job.

  • Did he just bend the top? Wow.. Honestly I'd pick this over the MacBook Pro.. Even tho I'm getting an iMac.. And besides, the iMac is the only Mac I'll ever have because it's overpriced when it has the specs of outdated computers.. I might as well get this after the iMac is outdated and is too much to keep up with technology. I just want this laptop so bad, but my mom is convincing me to get an iMac which is TOO EXPENSIVE.

  • it just sucks that the disc drive exeternal ... and why the fuck would anyone put multitouch on windows, I mean for god sake just give us a good old trackpad without the pain in the ass friction from previous hp laptops

  • HP (Envy's the MacBook Pro) and 1.6Ghz processor! That's shockingly bad, talk about poor performance....

  • @serendipityuk The only time when it runs 1.6 GHz is when your, say, doing some Work on a document, or on MSN, thats when you dont need all the speed. and it saves you battery power also. but then, say, u were gonna do some Gaming, the Core is able to Hyperthread itself, and the Envy is able to go up to 12.4 GHz, which is Pretty Insane!

  • hey is this better or apple 15 inch? PLZ ANSWER

  • @arya333ful

Considering the fact that the macbook runs on outdated processors, doesn't play blueray, yet still cost around the same price as the envy...yes, the envy pwns the macbook pro.

If your looking to buy a laptop, I would suggest waiting though. Apple is gonna release its new line of macbooks pretty soon.

  • @arya333ful This is better in terms of performance. I was thinking of getting a MacBook Pro but this is what I'm getting now

  • Can you burn DVD's with the Envy 15, without downloading or buying anything else?

  • Does it have a 1920 x 1080 display, or what is it?

  • cost ?I am sonsidering of this cause there will be ati 5xxx in there too

  • I almost cried

    Im in love

thought of getting a mac bt f it, this is what im getting now

  • 1080 screen! 16Gb of ram! SSD drives! Holyyy shittt.

  • wow that looks awesome lol

specs look good 2 i might buy this

looks like a copy of the mbp thow lol haha

  • can you connect 2 hp monitors to this laptop

  • looks sexy than a macbook pro :P Hp FTW to all the fanboys get a fucking life lol

  • I've still never found anything better than a Sager notebook.

  • who cares if this is a cop of the macbook pro??

i say if you can take someone else's idea and make it better, go for it. Apple is playing around with their dicks still charging 2k for 2006 tech. Their fault. Don't blame HP for putting 2010 hardware, for cheaper in the same form factor.

    I say good job HP!!!

still going to buy a macbook pro though. (when the new ones arrive)

  • @rmbrown09

Well said. I'm not pro or anti Apple myself, but I like the look of the MBP and the solid mousepad. The fingerprint resistant material/design is one (of a few) characteristics that catches my eye quick on any laptop, and one I'm surprised more companies don't follow as it's often listed as a con in laptop review articles by both reviewers and customer users.

  • @rmbrown09 First of all, even though it's a beautiful machine, I don't think anyone would deny, it does seem like a Macbook Pro ripoff. Just look at the raised keyboard or the one click keypad, just to name a few. Second, as upsetting as it may seem I think Apple is used to PC companies stealing its ideas by now. A great lesson in business can be learned here. Lastly, I'd seen the price tag on the Envy & my 13" Pro was cheaper than the 13" Envy cause I'd considered getting one for compatibility.

  • @rmbrown09 Oh yeah one thing I forget to mention, you can't forget that the Envy runs on Windows, which I think is a major reduction. I had my Mac for three months so far and hadn't needed to buy anti-virus software, nor have I had to remove any viruses. The long term cost of having a machine that runs on Windows, no matter how many bell & whistle that new toy has is inescapable. True-story: 2 PC's in 4 yrs and I had at least 5 crashes combined. My mom had an HP, her hard drive failed in a yr.

  • @mes59 there are free anti virus softwares. can you even run flash properly on a mac??

  • @verygoodbrother Actually, I can run Flash properly on my Mac without any complications. Second, you should always check to see if you trust the publisher before downloading antivirus software.

  • @mes59 is it trusting the publisher or seeing that the anti virus works that matters? but i understand that there are bogus people providing viruses as 'antiviruses', as with most things in life, there are criminals out there to take advantage of anything and con people. I don't know how your mom's hard drive spoilt because of windows

  • @mes59

What does a hard drive failing have anything to do with the computer's brand? Computer companies, including Apple, buy the same hard drives from a few different vendors. All hard drives have a slight chance to fail. It's no different between Mac & PC.

  • @JerryRSun It's no mystery that Hp has some reliability issues. Besides that I was emphasizing a point. To add on to the 5 computer crashes my family had to endure, my mom purchase this Hp laptop, which also suffered 1 crash before having a total hard drive failure. My point was, considering all you have to put with by buying a cheap PC, it maybe safer & more affordable in the long run to just buy a Mac. Now are all hard drives bound to fail eventually, of course. We were just really fed up.

  • @mes59

I'm saying that a hard drive failure cannot reasonably be considered part of a pattern of bad quality.

  • @JerryRSun It just wasn't the hard drive failure, that was only the icing on the cake. It was the 5 PC crashes in only 4 years. It was the 100's of $'s we spent on virus protection because our PC's couldn't function without it. In fact, a few of those crashes were cause by viruses & and that was after we had VP. All of that took a steep toll on our financial and emotional frustration. Now maybe there are some out there who never had these problems with their PC. All I say is good for them.

  • @rmbrown09 that's what i was thinking, the whole of the scientific community functions on developing other peoples' ideas

  • @rmbrown09 HP ftw, idc if it is a copycat of mac. Cause mac is too expensive and this HP has better specs. Love it. Getting the new Envy 14.

  • @rmbrown09

are u getting the 13 or 15 inch?

  • @rmbrown09

what do u think of the 13inch macbook pros?

  • @rmbrown09 The HP Envy is a piece of crap.

  • Comment removed

  • @242v242 >_> I have been taught not to argue with children. I only put up my opinion. Don't take it so personally. You need to grow up. Seriously.

  • Comment removed

  • Just buy this and install OS 10 on it if you want a Macbook Pro with better specs.

  • how the fff do u do that lol.

    could u put a link lol ?

  • Google osx86 project.

  • thanks bro didnt get any help there lol

but lucky there's a couple of vids on utube about it

  • MAC FTW

  • dollar for dollar, pound for pound. This notebook will destroy a Macbook pro in terms of power.

  • I would 100% buy this over a MBP even though I am a mac user.

  • EXACT COPY OF MACBOOK PRO

  • dude on the outside it may be a MBP but on the inside it's a lot better! up to 16 gb of ram, intel cor i7 820m processor! OMG the MBP is just knocked out!!!!!!!!

  • poor mac, eveyrone is copying their ideas. when first came out with the iphone it was a huge success, and everyone was scrambling around to make phones that looked identical to it.

i mean look at this thing, it has almost the same exact design as a macbook pro!

  • @ButterHeros Absolutely true.

  • I am the not so proud owner of a 15" macbook pro, had it for about two years now, on top of many problems like OSX freezing, and running painfully slow, I am now down to under an hour of battery on. I am running Win 7 full time now (cannot remember the last time I properly ran OSX) and loving it, apart from running hot and the odd BSOD which is down to Bootcamps shoddy drivers. I am so very tempted to buy an ENVY, but am struggling to find out about battery life and if it has digital audio.

  • @lopezc71 rather this over an overpriced underpowered macbook pro any day.

I use a 2.8 duo 500GB macbook pro at work (check my video if you don't believe me) and i still bought an Envy.

we have had more problems with our mobile macbook pro lab (10 2.8 duo's late 09) than our 6 year old dells.

  • Not the highest. But still very high.

  • True the dv8000t is a cheap POS but you can buy about 2 for 1 Macbook. And mac geniuses simply ask you to return to manufacturer or format youre entire drive. For simple questions that simpleton retards (usual mac user) have, yes they have the genius bar.

Lets face it, for the typical macuser everyone else is a genius..

If you played with envy line, you'd know its dam dam nice! The 15" one is on par with a portable server!! 13" is better for portability though.

  • all those comments on how this is better than the current MBP... The MBP is about 8 months old and about to be refreshed on the 27th. Compare the 2 notebooks then.

  • it looks like a mac. copy much?

  • @QuietScreamsQUIET agreed but hey i dont see it as copying because its not nearly the same inside lol

  • except that the macbook won't die a month after the warranty expires.

See my video for an explanation.

  • @justinaurelius that because they are already shoddy and faulty, you just dont notice it getting worse.

  • Ahhh...man, this hp envy 15 just ate, spit-out, and crapped all over my macbook pro!

  • Amazing machine! Why aren't all the notebooks like this?

Looks amazing, light, thin, good performance, good speakers,...

I would get it with an Intel Core i5.

Lack of an optical drive isn't that bad, you only use it the first day when you install all your software so an external is fine.

It's better then a Macbook pro but the price is the same, so the choice is simple.

  • This makes my Macbook look like a toy.

  • @jaycc9 Macbook and all other apple products are toys ,they are made for people who have less intelligence then average and more money then average.

  • haha sita...trying to be all smartass. I have a macbook, this hp, and dell adamo (for dad), so no...my intelligence is not less than average because I have a mac. I use them for different things and get the best of both worlds. Just cause macs are made for idiots doesn't mean a mac owner is an idiot. And about money...there's something called a job.

  • haha STEVE jOBS AND HIS EXECUTIVES ARE GENIUS AND EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT ,now they make money by fooling innocent and wealthy people like you know your rights they are exploiting you and its heavenly truth that most mac users are idiots.

  • True but those that actually have a job and pay our way through life rather then living at home, know the value of money. And there is little value in owning a mac.

  • This computer runs hot! Awesome specs, not compared to my M15x, but damn HP didn't think about how hot i7's are. Even with 3 fans this thing isn't properly ventilated. Maybe with the new i5's that are available it will be cooler, but I returned mine after 2 weeks :( (don't try to use this laptop on your lap, you'll be sorry)

  • @Darkm1k3 WRONG!!! Did u see the vents dude there are 2 huge vends in the front, and the whole left side is a vent thats why theres no ports on the left

  • Comment removed

  • This is freakin hilarious. All of the pc fanboys are attacking the apple fanboys. This is just too priceless:-O

  • at the beg the guy looks like he wnts to kill u

  • Wow the Envy 15 is better than the MacBook Pro took me a little to recognize that. It is.

  • Final note to the brainwashed Apples floating around this video:

    - The Envy15 has has far better specifications than the Macbook Pro. It's not even comparable

    - The Envy15 has a full HD resolution (1080p) whereas the Macbook Pro does not.

    - The Envy15 actually ventilates itself whereas the Macbook Pro would overheat.

    The End.

  • @DeathToTheseWalls and the envy is much cheaper

  • You have crap in your mind? This laptop is toomuch better than apple macbook pro.. look at the especifications.. the apple is a shit in comparision to this laptop.. just read more before say some thing!

  • noo mac fanboys everywhere noooo!!! anyways the specs of the envy are much better than any mb and it dosnet run snowkitten ; )

  • lmao snowkitten dats funny

  • hp use were allright but now. ridiculouseeeeeee copy the macbookpro not good hp not good

  • piece of shit, mac's are built so much better, hp cuts too many costs and sells for way too much

  • my god you people are soooo ignorant have you even glimsed the specs on an envy huh my god.

  • they are waay better than the specs of mac

  • Does anyone know when it comes out in Europe specifically Finland??

  • @DJElliioo who cares you should be lookin at a macbook pro if u a dj.lol

  • All of you MBP guys that say that this is just a MBP need to figure out that the only real simularity it has is color, materials, and touchpad. Everything else about it is just as good or better.

  • rip off, macbook pro is better

  • How in the world is a MacBook pro better? Every single spec on this is better than a macbook pro. The only good thing about a macbook pro is its design, which HP improved in its new notebook.

  • Macbook rip off. I don't want it. I'll stick with my Vaio.

  • yea vaio is the best in notebooks followed by thinkpads

  • nahh macs then hp

  • is that a macbook pro? looks like a shitty version of a mbp. nice job hp

  • PC's are gay.

  • Mac's are Fake and ghey

  • did you saw at 0:36 how the screen does not opens equaly when he pulls at one side?

Is it posseble the connection points can break?

  • @hunter

well, that happens because the laptop is very thing. im sure the screen wouldnt break from opening... unless you open your laptop with grenades.

  • window's macbook pro, expensiver...

  • actually cheaper considering macbook pro's don't come w/ quadcore processors. if you build one to the same specs the mbp is much more expensive.

  • the worst wallpaper ever

  • @loopba

Thats not a wallpaper, thats cinebench.

  • I'm not sure how you think Microsoft is copying apple although i can see how HP is copying apple. Windows 7 looks nothing nor runs anything like osx.

  • but it does run better. i cant stand osx. idk why.

  • you know it's getting to the point the PC's look so much like a mac both OS wise and exterior wise now, but yet all pc's fans say that windows is more superior even when Microsoft is clearly trying to copy apple

  • Microsoft doesn't make computers, they make the OS. Looks-wise, only the HP Envy looks like a Mac thus far.

  • It's like 3.7k in my country... dammit.. and the Envy 13 is just $200 lower for a smaller more obsolete model... If I was working, I'd get this in a heartbeat...

  • Good looking laptop, the audio really sucks... it comes out of one side (the left).

  • The guy doing the video didn't mix it properly... lols..

  • Windows it is and will be the first leader in seling computers...but for my its the most stupid mistake using a PC..(.windows)

i dont want to say they copy the mac...they want to have what mac has...stability performance design....

a ten years old mac machine...will have the same performance like a real time windows machine in thys days....ita all about the OS X...as inside is the same intel...but with a highter cache on mac......

With regards to all PC and MAC users

  • ok. firt of all, ten years ago, gigabytes were unheard of. now we're into terabytes. second of all, currently, like 2008, 2009, medium end pc's have been using intel core i7 for about a year and a half now. apple finally just started putting them into their imacs. and you pay 2X as much as you would for a pc. my pc has 8gb dual channel ddr3 memory, a 1gb ati radeon hd4850, a 23 inch led display, and an intel core i7 clocked at 2.6 ghz for $1500 try to get a "futuristic" mac with those specs.

  • @skittles

Lol. Medium end PCs have NOT been using core i7s for a year and a half seeing how the first i7s were introduced Nov. 08. Also, Medium end PC NOT are using Intel Core 2 Duo. The i7 is premium stuff, trust me. The cheapest PCs with i7 are about $1200.

  • @skittles

I meant, medium end PCs "NOW" are still using Intel Core 2 Duos. The i7 and any quad core processor is pretty premium stuff. The cheapest i7 PCs are about $1200.

  • also, take an english course, or at least grammar before you post something. that was hell to decode.

  • wow macbook pro copy :D lol the windows version :D

  • Mac Book pro knock of like sony did and Alienware M15x performance want to be at a higher cost then the Alienware.

  • HP ROOOOCCKKKKSS!!!! macpro...eat shit...!!!

  • looks like an ugly version of mac book pro

  • MB Pro knock off! How is HP advancing the computer world by copying apple? Why can't they be original and come up with their own design?

  • lol at clickpad

  • 0:36 wow look at that case bend

  • whoa... dude that's crazy...!

  • its a copyyyyyyyyyyy! of macbook pro

  • even if its copied.. so what..its just copying a great design etc.. its for the better good.. to me its not copy... its just going with the apple standards which is commonly the premium/luxurious standards.. what just becuz apple did it first others cant follow.? bs..

  • coped APPLE MACBOOK PRO

  • looks very similar to a 15 inch macbook pro

  • I love how ignorant some ppl can be. yes aesthetically it may look similar, but that doesn't mean the WHOLE laptop is a "blatant rip off".

  • Wow, its pretty clear why they named this thing Envy. Looks like HP is pretty envious of a certain company based in Cupertino. Absolutely no creativity or originality.

  • ...I even scan and fix the partition for registry and program errors EACH TIME I boot. In the end I find myself coming to the same conclusion. You can only polish a turd so much.

  • i have never had any problems with win7 even in the early beta it never crashed or frozen on me.

  • ...at least know that my computer will stay on and not crash after idling for over 15 minutes or after switching from one processor intensive application to another. With my experience with a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 fresh install, I'd say there's a 40% chance that the current session at some time will either freeze or give me a blue screen. And yes, I have switched up my video drivers in case it was an issue with that as well as tweaking my power settings to make sure that that wasn't the issue.

  • Windows 7 IS crap. And I did buy it only because I love gaming and don't own a console, so I'm pretty much forced to make another partition for filth mode if I want any of the newest games. THAT is pretty annoying. Windows is and always has been crap because of the framework that it's based on. I'm not saying OS X is perfect. Snow Leopard launched WAY too early and it was a hellish experience for me getting everything back to how it was in Leopard but, that being said...

  • UR SUCH A LIER

  • Copy much?

  • Not much of a copy. It has a much more rounded body, different material, it has engraving unlike apple, it is darker, has better hardware, and isn't a complete unibody. The only thing that is similar to a MBP is the mouse pad.

  • lol not all laptop perfect!!!!

  • If I were forced to buy a PC laptop, I would probably get this one. But as much as I like those specs, there's always an underlying issue in all PCs and that is the OS. As far as the design is concerned, it is indeed quite blatant. I guess if you can't innovate, then imitate. I'm holding out for the next flagship model - the HP Irony.

  • You're kidding me right? WIndows 7 is just as good, if not better, than that Snow Leopard crap or any other OS for that matter. If you say 7 is crap, you are either strikingly ignorant or just being an ass/fanboy.

  • why copy that macbook pro although mac pro is amazing id pick it over this anyday

  • durable hardware, dual SSDs, or even the backlit keyboard? I could use a quad core but on this piece of crap I wouldnt spend 2000$ when I can get a 15 inch that pretty much outperforms this in every way minus the processor and video card for $1600 -$2000. Like I said, if the quad core is a big deal to you buy a true beast of a computer like the DV7t or DV8t which destroy this computer and it only costs like 1000-1500$. Macs are IMO great computers to use and you wont be disappointed if u buy it

  • another mac fan boy

  • nice jabber i appreciate ure skill of being able to look up online. HP always claims this but the sad truth is that quad cores tend to drain batteries very fast and it wont last more than 3-4 hours (with that slice maybe 5-6). Second, ur a rare case I guess but 95% of people I know hate that touchpad and look it up online, most ppl hate it . Yes, the video card is better but does it have a well functioning touchpad with multitouch gestures, LED backlit screen, amazing sound card, (cont)
