One thing that is very important to understand is the fact that Armenia was once a proud kingdom that stretched (as the song correctly cites) from sea to sea, covering the whole Middle East
Armenians got greedy and different groups broke off, and the kingdom got smaller, eventually allowing Armenia to be taken advantage of by such entities as the Ottomans and the Soviets.
The song is trying to say if we didn't forget our culture and adopted other ones then we would be one strong nation.

Just a comment on this whole topic. Armenians, genetically, tend to be purer (note: not pure) than many races because of 1 fact: we practiced endogamy for generations (not marrying outside the race). So, all considered, there is an 'armenian breed' and armos have every right to consider by pure logic that by getting rid of our bias towards marrying our own, the breed will 'dilute.'
