@alohawg yes, you are SO right! the unions planned the production of all of these great cars over the past few years. they also selected which parts would be used, like the Chinese transmission found in the latest Mustangs and designed most of the sharp Chryslers were seeing these days.
@GamertownUSA The interior was made that way on purpose. Whats wrong, the gauges, the seats and door panels, what? If the dashboard and gauges, it aint changing. its polarizing, but most buyers like the exterior looks, the engineering, and the value better than some funky lookin gauges. :-)

@bronxboyXXX It was a matter of cost. The money on this car was spent on the body design and engineering, which is quite better than the Mustang re-hash. Do your research on the engineering and get back to me.
@ybdiffrent They could have at the very least make it an option like GM does with its V series Cadillacs. People are willing to pay thousands extra for higher levels of interior. if they weren't BMW, Mercedes and several Japanese car manufactures would have probably been driven out the US Market in the 80s when GM's interiors were at their all time low.
@bronxboyXXX Good point, and agreed. When it was first made, it was a question how sales would go. Now that its taken off, there ~may~ be some upgrade options coming down the line....and/or aftermarket solutions.
@GamertownUSA The car was designed specifically to NOT have the same interior as the other cars. Dash aside (polarizing), the overall look and build quality of the seats, door panels, etc is WAY better than any other previous Camaro.
@LastTransAm2002 I agree that people are complaining about theinterior way too much, especially when they don't realize if the interior of the car is heavily upgraded, the price of the car will also shoot up haha but I must agree with them on the minor things GM could have done... the quality and styling. Theat blank space in front of the passanger? Put SOMETHING simple there at least, sheesh. The quality of the plastic could be a notch higher, and a tad more design wouldn't have killed them.
@ericlebronjamez I think it has plenty of room. Lebron James has one and he is 6'8. I'm 6'4 and it kind of felt like I could move the seat forward and still be comfortable. It is not tight at all like most sports cars. A Corvette feels very tight inside compared to the Camaro.
to the guy whose 6'6... i just test drove a LS last friday and I'm 6'6 - 6'7 and i had plenty of room. no one will be sitting behind you though as my seat was touching the rear seat haha. def a nice road though, I am picking up my Inferno Orange LS hopefully fri or early next week.
@ericlebronjamez Im 6' -- i think you might have problems at 6'6 unless you are used to "lowriding" the seat. The seat moves in just about every conceivable limit - but the headroom is a bit confining .. you can always by a 'vert! :-)

I feel the Camaro ( 0-60 in under 6sec ) is just right. With full bolt-ons & tune can reach as much as 300rwhp and that's just enough for a good daily driver:)
buahaha the other day my father and i went to a car lot that had a nice 2003 corvette which was the whole reason i went to the lot. When i got there inside the shop was a 2010 SS camaro it had after market rims and a supercharger idk what brand though : ( so i told my dad to crew the corvette because i want the camaro : )
i am still perplexed at the lack of design in the dash. The dash on the passenger side seems... well to put it lightly... cheap. I own GM and Ford and i always found GM did a good job on dashes and Ford as well. But i don't like from the center vents to the passenger vents. they could have at least put a logo or something there to make up for empty space. THrows the dash off balance. Coming for a design background....
@fattycorpsl I think what GM tried to do is to put the focus on the driver. When I sit on my 2LT+RS (yes, sir, with that "useless foglamps" and "useless halo lights" that turn heads even at night), I feel like everything is within reach, and that the car is truly mine.
After seeing the center console for the Hyundai Genesis, I very much appreciate what they did to the Camaro's console. The two giant knobs and climate controls embedded, in my humble opinion, is a beautiful and ingenious design.

Have driven the SS several times. Killer value. Interior is plasticy in places (most notably the auxiliary gauge cluster) the steering wheel is slightly awkward for the hands, the back seat is useless for humans, and the handbrake button makes my thumb go numb (you'll understand when you try it) but these things are vastly overwhelmed by the positives of the car.

Some may bash the "cheap plastic" interior, but I will once again say it is VERY good quality and workmanship, and is simply the BEST interior offered in a modern standard Camaro - ever. Plus, the platform (chassis) is something that is way overrated. Its an extremely well handling balanced and predictable "budget supercar." YMMV.
I sat in the LS version of one of these yesterday at the dealership and was very impressed. When you look at the standard equipment list compared to the price for the LS it is a huge bang for your buck. One thing: Its called "bang for the buck." If they put a Lexus-style interior in the thing, they would need to raise the MSRP by about $3K or more, which puts it out of its class, regarding "Muscle Cars." Seriously, have you ever seen a 1960's interior by Chevy or Ford? Thats why muscle cars were such a hit - they gave you POWER at a good price without all the gizmos.
My 2000 has the e-brake on the right also. If you are reaching down in a "oh fug" moment, first you want the gear shifter, then you want the ebrake, not the other way around, IMO.
Dont forget that you have about 30-50 different customizing options to make it unique to you, and thats not even counting the aftermarket. BUY ONE! You will be glad you did.

The PDIM (USB connection) shows as a no-cost option, so I think you can order it, but it may or may not "just come with it." Just order the "PDIM" and you are good.

Seen the interior on the 2010 Mustang, yet? Prior to 2010, the Mustang interior was pretty crappy... but... Ford did do a major upgrade on the Mustang interior... for 2010 and it beats this torture chamber by a few light years....

I have a feeling you're blinded by your love of the mustang, and that love is justified. If you didn't like it, I have a feeling you'd like the camaro more. The factory ambient lighting will probably not satisfy some of you looking for a bright pop of light in the whole interior. I think the aftermarket will be providing more "wild" packages soon for interior lighting. You should wait for awhile and see what packages the other car parts people come up with.
Very nice :) The whole interior reminds me of the 4th generation though except for the dash thats completely different. But you still got your buckets all around and the large center console :) I like the whole feeling it gives you in these cars. Camaro is definetly my favorite car from 1967 to whenever they decide to ruin chevy forever.
were you able to fit comfortably in the car because i have heard several people say that it could be bigger and feels a little small i know its supposed to be extremely roomy but if youve sat in a mustang how small is it compared to that??
Hi - yes, it actually feels much larger than a 90's mustang to me. and, at least 3-4 people on the forum I am that are over 6' tall said they fit in it with no problems, and felt comfortable.
Plus, you would be amazed at just how adjustable the seats really are. You can adjust them from your chest on the steering wheel and your head hitting the roof all the way back to your feet off the pedals and laying almost flat.
And, the door panels have a recess so they dont cut off elbow room.
oldskool i would get the camaro. My friend just got a genesis coupe and to be honest neither of us like it. It has a rubbery shifter, stiff ride and the steering isn't quick, it feels numb. Thats just me though.
a lil cheap looking inside compared to new stang but i can live with it. the exterior more than makes up for it. love the paddle shifters! this or genesis coupe is my next car!

That interior is terrible!! The mustang's interior is way nicer, plus more hp and torque. The camaro is a heavy piece of junk. What a waste of money!

yes, that's the BASE LS -- no options at all. If you just order a Camaro at the lowest level, thisis what you get. I hope that helps.

The PDIM (USB connection) shows as a no-cost option, so I think you can order it, but it may or may not "just come with it." Just order the "PDIM" and you are good.

Thanks for the question. I am pretty sure the Tap-shift "paddles" come standard, but you have the choice to turn them off, you dont have to use them. I will dbl-check and reply.

I will double-check on that for you, but I a pretty sure the BASE V6 has a USB connection to the head-unit (stereo) for integration with your MP3 player (doesnt really matter which one).

Same as the old Camaro. Its there, but the room depends on how much the people in the front pull the seats forward. Its a coupe, not a sedan.

Seen the interior on the 2010 Mustang, yet? Prior to 2010, the Mustang interior was pretty crappy... but... Ford did do a major upgrade on the Mustang interior... for 2010 and it beats this torture chamber by a few light years....

I'm not saying that the mustang interior is bad. I'm saying this is more original. Have you felt the build quality in the camaro interior? I have a feeling you're blinded by your love of the mustang, and that love is justified. If you didn't like it, I have a feeling you'd like the camaro more. I don't hate the mustang, I'm a fan of all American muscle cars, but the interior on this is the best of the three competitors.

The factory ambient lighting will probably not satisfy some of you looking for a bright pop of light in the whole interior. I think the aftermarket will be providing more "wild" packages soon for interior lighting. You should wait for awhile and see what packages the other car parts people come up with.

Very nice :) The whole interior reminds me of the 4th generation though except for the dash thats completely different. But you still got your buckets all around and the large center console :) I like the whole feeling it gives you in these cars. Camaro is definetly my favorite car from 1967 to whenever they decide to ruin chevy forever.

were you able to fit comfortably in the car because i have heard several people say that it could be bigger and feels a little small i know its supposed to be extremely roomy but if youve sat in a mustang how small is it compared to that??

Hi - yes, it actually feels much larger than a 90's mustang to me. and, at least 3-4 people on the forum I am that are over 6' tall said they fit in it with no problems, and felt comfortable.
Plus, you would be amazed at just how adjustable the seats really are. You can adjust them from your chest on the steering wheel and your head hitting the roof all the way back to your feet off the pedals and laying almost flat.
And, the door panels have a recess so they dont cut off elbow room.

oldskool i would get the camaro. My friend just got a genesis coupe and to be honest neither of us like it. It has a rubbery shifter, stiff ride and the steering isn't quick, it feels numb. Thats just me though.
