@LivingHistorySchool ive always thought that it would be fun to go out on my own and live off of nature. How long have you been doing this? Where have u build that house? did buy land for it?
when we were kids , we would make arrowheads by pounding a nail threw the primer hole of a old bullet casing , then glueing it to the shaft with pine pitch . Those arrow heads were balanced too. Fletching with feathers was always difficult , but fletching with duct tape is easy and works awesome. Around here , theres bullet casings and nails all over the woods , so its kinda indigenous, and most any redneck has duct tape in his kit.
Squirrel seems like a strange food source, but was far more common in Native American diet during ancient times than deer or duck. Squirrel is very good, however if you eat too much you'll go nuts! (get it...cuz they eat nuts...sorry, had to say it :)
Hi. It seems to me that an arrow must behave very differently when the shaft is green, the amount of flex being integral to how it casts. I expect the drying process and straightening go hand in hand too. I have only fletched commercial shafts, but I think you must be right to advise drying the wood in preference. I shoot English longbow. Good vid!
@LivingHistorySchool im in the suburbs and there are plenty of wooded areas around here. i even made a teepee out of some nice logs. i cant wait for the ground to dry so i can sleep outside again.
