  • Love this song, always have.

  • 3:11 - 3:28. look at dom .

  • fans hate this song? i dont understand. the first thing that get me to this song is the drum

  • another releasing of emphaticism .. Bellamysio

  • this song makes me all hippy in the beginning then when i first heard the ending and look at the lyrics its really sad.. awesome solo next to thoughts of a dying atheist

  • This song is one of the shittest Muse have ever done. Live and not live. It's so plain, cheesy and boring. Thumbs up from fans of real music yesyes

  • This song is fucking awsome!! People can like it a little bit less than the other one's but the fact is that the guitar solo gives me chills everytime I listen to it!!

    MUSE 4EVER!!! :D

  • this was probably the best acoustic xmas ever

  • The guitar solo is amazing!

  • this is my fave song off this album !!!! I dont understand why people dont like this ???? the riff in the middle makes my spine tingle xxxx

  • @littleminxoxo yeah, I agree it's a good song. IMO not the best the album though. I wouldn't call the middle guitar part a riff. It's a guitar solo.

  • @littleminxoxo the guitar solo brings a sentimental tear to my eye :')

  • @charlotteT5278 I just don't get why fans wouldn't like this is beautiful !!!! not my favourite muse song but god damn its up there with the greats and the solo is amazing I have to rewind it and listen to it at least twice everytime I hear this song x

  • It's funny how I used to skip this song when I first got the CD; now I keep on playing it over and over... It's just so magnificent.

  • Those drums beats drives me wild like being in an epic march to a legendary battle or something

  • PERFECT!!!

  • This is live! I hope all of you realize just how amazing this is! :)

  • This is live! I hope all of you realize just how amazing this is! :)

  • ale bohemio is a dope

    ale bohemio es un baboso

  • @ignacioambort claro que chi

  • Listen to this, it's like having a gift today, so beautiful, awesome guitarsolo and Matt you're my guiding light, jaja, love it!!<333

  • Best guitar solo I've heard!

  • such an awesome song but too underrated :( i think its brilliant i love it :D

  • I was just enjoying the song then I read the comments. I has a sad. I love the new Muse, I think they are very different but still good, but at the same time I miss the insane batshit crazy songs in their previous concerts. Fucking awesome live performances like Citizen Erased or The Small Print comes to mind. Why did you guys have to remind me...

  • guitar solo at 2:13.... wowwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • this and exogenesis 3 were my fav tracks on resistance, very epic indeed, and anyone who thinks muse is all about rocking like crazy should listen to some of their other songs like blackout, ruled by secrecy, citizen erased (to a certain extent), falling down, unintented... all awesome tracks in my eyes...

  • omg i like it better live.

  • the first biggest and best band from this millenium

  • This song is amazing. This drum at the begining... and matt's voice! Muse are the best !!!

  • Much better than the album version

  • Matt bellamy why are you so damn good at guitar D:

  • so little views..... this is fucking epic....

  • that harmonic sounds like a blackboard scratch with hate XDD

  • i loved this song the moment i heard it

  • I get goosebumps !

  • YOWZA! This is the first time I've heard Guiding Light live~!!!!!!

  • ill take this as proof he doenst play a pinch harmonic in the solo.

  • @ljoekelsoey4 He does on the album version...what I would like to kno his how he gets the harmonic sustain through the solo :S

  • @Boy9213 wrong - he does not. 2 reasons. 1) listen to it, its a gradual harmonic; natural harmonics are instant, it is physically impossible to create a gradual harmonic NATURALLY (without effects). 2) he has for many years used a fernandez sustainer (a pick up) that can prolong notes and turn them into harmonics (what you hear in the guiding light solo). you can hear it being used in this video at exactly 2:15 - 2:18

  • @ljoekelsoey4 It is possible to create a gradual harmonic naturally without effects if you have an instrument that has long enough sustain...it's just comes the sound decay and the harmonic part of the frequency (im not good with the technical words) is all that is left that is audible to the human ear. And on the album he pinches the 5th fret of the d string in the solo, im guessing you don't play guitar because it is damn obvious that this is what he does

  • @Boy9213 ill assume you are having trouble with your 'technical words' as you aren't quite making sense. by 'gradual harmonic' i mean a normal note that becomes a harmonic. generally the only way to do this is with feedback, but then - its not a harmonic. and im well aware how to play the solo - check my profile.

  • I loved this song immediately. LOVE MUSE.

  • Just agree that MUSE is the best band on earth right now----------------------besides depeche mode

  • one of the best songs of the resistance album!

    mexico is waiting

    april 20

  • when the new album came out i despised this song for a long time.....until i heard it live, stunningly brilliant !

  • Agreed! I wasn't a fan of most of the new album, but they really kicked ass live. i have a whole new appreciation for this song, especially, after watching him rip that epic solo.

  • Why does he have a chorus on his voice?

  • @litlemadguitarist

Maybe cause that's how they wanted the song to sound?

  • the only downfall to this song is it isn't as hard hitting live, like it doesn't transfer well. most Muse songs are BETTER live than on album. The solo is weak live, not using as much distortion and it just seems effortless, like he's not even trying haha. Still make other bands look like amateurs though.

  • The solo does sound weak on the video, but i seen them live in dublin in november and they played this and the solo sounds awesome live :D

  • Agree ! I saw them in Antwerp, and it was awesome !

  • @McFaul20 i thought the same thing til i saw it live. it was loud as fuck.

  • in adittion this is the first time matt doent chane to a good dsrtion , most live videos they have a similar distotion that the one he used un studio:). matt changes its effects always mainly because he uses separate effects, but still awesome live, this is their best on guiding light but still rocks

  • I really don't see why there is so much hate on this song. It's really quite beautiful. Awesome vid of it live :D

  • because they dont know a shit about music, they were expecting old muse on this album, amzing song with incridible chord progressions, and really nice guitar arrangements

  • it sounds really awesome live !! they should play it more often..

  • More often? What are you talking about?

  • @WilmoTheBear lol really. its a set list staple.

  • Great song ... Like it live :)

  • i love the way he sings the 'I' before can't feel you anymore (:

Such a beautiful voice, so talented, so cute (: i love matt and muse. ♥♫♪

    and GUIDING LIGHT (:

  • I hate that fans hate on this song. Sounds brilliant. Very underrated.

  • @wewanthecup amen.

  • @wewanthecup I learned never to trust previews from iTunes from now on. (I was disappointed) When I heard the whole version, yes it was different from their other songs(new born, stsd, hysteria) but listening to it more and more and actually LISTENING to it I love it. I'm seeing them play at Wembley and I hope they play this, a good song for a stadium song.

  • @PocketsOfBlue same at first I didn't like this song at all but now i really like it! There are also people who say that resistance is so much worse album compared with their previous albums but I think this is good one too! You actually can't even compare muse albums together they are all so different, in a positive way.

  • @wewanthecup

they do?!?! fuckers.....this was my fav on the album.yes its brilliant :)

  • @Schaf085 Most elitist Muse fans hate songs that don't "rock their socks off"

  • @wewanthecup its not that 'eiltist' muse fans (by that i assume you mean fans that have liked them longer than most?) hate songs that dont 'rock their socks off.' its that muse used to be a great rock band, and now they are essentially a pop band.

  • @ljoekelsoey4 I won't deny, their sound has changed, both in albums and in their concerts. And I'll agree their new songs are more toward pop than their old songs, but they stick rock. As for their live performances, just because they perform the songs much cleaner now doesn't make them a pop band. Matt's guitars used to go out of tune in EVERY gig, and then they trash the equipment. It was fun, but very amateurish, "teen/early 20's" type of acting out. Inevitably, people grow up.

  • @wewanthecup that is blatantly not true. Ruled by Secrecy for example is a wonderful piano song that most Musers like. Another would be megalomania. Stereotypes are bad kiddies.

  • @dudeguy96 What isn't true about it? I go to all the Muse forums that exist, it is very known that for some reason most "hardcore" muse fans don't like Guiding Light. You must not know what a "stereotype" is. I am not bashing Muse or Muse fans, I am a huge Muse fan (traveled from California to London to see them at Wembley the other day) and love Guiding Light. I was just saying that it is very underrated by most fans that call themselves hardcore. Go to muse.mu or muselive.com and see.

  • @wewanthecup I think it's because of the synth in the beginning. It's a little too much. That was my immediate turn off when I first heard it, and it still is quite a turn-off. But I love the rest of the song!

  • @wewanthecup This and Unnutarul Selection are the most Muse's underrated songs, if these two were on Origin of Symmetry, Muse fans fans would say that these are the best songs ever. -.-

  • This is Matt's new MB-1 guitar right ?

  • if your definition of new is 3 years old, then yes.

but you can't really say its 'new'

  • @longmann101 Sorry, i missed up with the Chrome Kaoss, which is new and is used in Guiding Light.

I saw the MB-1 recently in a video, so this is why i confused.

  • That's OK. I must admit, I got rather excited when I saw the Chrome Kaoss on Jools Holland.

BTW, I've just realised who you are and your videos are great :L

    I will be subbing :D

  • Matt has this guitar long time ago...The Mb-1 is the guitar you can buy at mansons

  • 6 stars

  • thanks!

  • I'm not bothered at all but just curious, why is it in black and white?

  • Please read the video info.

  • It doesn't say much, just mentions a webstream....

  • The guy who recorded it just did it in B/W due to a fault by his own. None colour version was shared, so this is the only version I got.

  • Ok cheers, that's all i wanted to know ;)

  • It's a shame you uploaded it now. I re-edited the footage so it's in sync. I uploaded them all on my other channel to watch if anyone's interested.

  • I can delete it if you want.

  • Thank you very much for this !
