About "Leaving our North undefended", may I ask what Harper has done regarding this issue? Next to nothing. It's the Russians that are actually deciding (and getting revenues) who is getting through the North-West passage. We have no way of enforcing what we claim to be our territorial waters because we have no decent submarines fleet. How can Harper be saying that we are stronger there? So that puts Harper even farther to the right than anyone still. Look, the Canadians are not going to go along with him en masse. No poll has ever shown him winning over a majority. I really have to take issue with what Harper said. I don't like the negative politics he uses, which are like something out of the republican playbook. He uses the terms socialists and separatists in such a negative way to brand two of the other parties. Like or not the NDP and Bloc are democratically elected parties and this type of labeling just incites negative emotions in people and diminishes the level of political debate. Typical of Harper to appeal to the lowest denominator.
The worst I think is the attack on the liberals for 'infesting the federal institutions and judiciary with left wing ideologues' and the false idea that the liberals were funding 'left wing fringe groups'. Well half of Harper's party has different agendas - for example the free market libertarians who believe anything goes and nothing is a sin versus the bible belt social conservatives who want the government involved in our bedrooms. The only thing holding the Con party together right now is Harper's dictatorial leadership.

So that puts Harper even farther to the right than anyone still. Look, the Canadians are not going to go along with him en masse. No poll has ever shown him winning over a majority. His last election scored him 37%. His best poll this year has him at 35% after bouncing this week from 30%. Canadians don't want ideologues on either side anymore, they will be much better served by someone closer to the centre.

Well duh. Ever since the Alliance and PC merged, the right has had one party to choose from. So naturally, they will have a stronger showing at the polls. Unfortunately, everybody else who leans to the left has basically two parties splitting voters, being the Liberals and the NDP. And in Quebec, the left vote is split further between three parties due to the Bloc. It's not a good situation for anyone who is to the left politically and is the reason why Harper is PM right now.

When he calls for a majority and brands the other parties this way you can tell pretty easily he doesn't want to work with them despite the fact that he's in a minority situation. He's pretty happy to go to an election right now judging by this.

I really have to take issue with what Harper said. I don't like the negative politics he uses, which are like something out of the republican playbook. He uses the terms socialists and separatists in such a negative way to brand two of the other parties. Like or not the NDP and Bloc are democratically elected parties and this type of labeling just incites negative emotions in people and diminishes the level of political debate. Typical of Harper to appeal to the lowest denominator.

The worst I think is the attack on the liberals for 'infesting the federal institutions and judiciary with left wing ideologues' and the false idea that the liberals were funding 'left wing fringe groups'. Ya right Harper, you just appointed more senators in one week that any Canadian Prime minister has in a year in our entire history, I guess by your definition your filling our federal institutions with right wing ideologues.

As for the 'left wing fringe groups' comment Harper was referring to a program which helped fund court cases for woman's, gays, disabled people and minority groups rights. How are these 'left wing fringe groups'? Harper really doesn't seem to believe in human rights if you go by that comment.
Ultimately I'd like to see the guy kicked out of office if possible.

The national debt going up only because Harper give to the opposition what they wanted. We are in a minority government if you don't know it.
The conservative pay back the national dept, control the spending. But the recession required some spending. If Harper got his majority in 2008, the situation should be different.

When you watch the video, you can tell it's not a secret videotape. Harper and his team knew exactly what they were doing when this was recorded. They outplayed the Liberals beautifully.
The choice is either a Conservative Majority, or the Association of Socialists and Separatists.

listen again, he said a liberal government propped up by the socialists and separatists. He's not talking about the liberals, so i'd say your 60% is a bit off, less than 50% (a minority) of our country would fall under the banners of other parties. And i think they should come out of the closet and just admit that they are socialist or seperatists.
