@SharpShots2 I personally don't hit the sand very often, but I know a lot of really good clammers do. If you use light and angle, the little craters are usually pretty apparent. If they are not, or if it's rainy and windy, then hitting the sand sometimes makes them "show" or "squirt" a little bit. If you watch people for a few minutes or ask someone to show you their divot before they dig, you'll be on top of this instantly.
