He says "blackpool lights! I heard George Harrison say that the beatles used to go see blackpool lights, what is that?" "different place all together?" "I'm in the right place at the wrong time?" "that's how I feel everyday."
Sorry i disliked this. I just can't escape from this video. Jack White is an awesome musician. I'm hooked on this song and its a pity they had to disband.
jack white......what can i say about such an influential band such as this....often kicked to the back burners and disliked because of gritty 30 minute guitar solos the feeling you get from bands like the doors...led zepplin...the who...jack is the last true rock star among us this band rocks ass and i love the show they did for the blackpool lights this is definitely the white stripes at their finest
The right handed Hendrix of our time. Holy crap is he talented. And Meg feeds off of him so well so stop the bashing. She has more talent in her pinky than some of you have in your whole bloodlines.
@grope4luna Yeah people don't seem to understand that she isn't just drumming, she's providing the emotional motivation that makes Jack's music so amazing.
The difference between Matt Bellamy and Jack White is that Muse came in with a genre relevant to the time, Jack White is much at heart a blues musician, a genre that hadn't been seen often since Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jack White can take pretty much any song and turn into something completely different. What makes him so amazing is that he brought something new and different to music. I do like Muse, but can't really compare the two. Apples and oranges
Can someone give me some insight into what Jack says before launching into the song? I've been trying to wrap my head around it for a while; not quite sure what he's getting at.
tough to pull off a female perspective song, but ole jackie white is probably the greatest musician to come around in the last 25 years, so for him its gravy, for us its unbelievable..
I think if anyone had a question who the best musician doing it today is, this video answers it. Jack Fucking White! Thank you so much for saving music. Nobody can touch Jack White.
@SuperRyanGee nah man matt bellamy is the greatest musisian of the last 2 decades.. fact.. jack white is unreal but nowhere near as good as matt bellamy...
@muserulefool I like Muse, and I think Matt Bellamy is awesome. His piano work is second-to-none in this era, and his guitar riffs are innovative and catchy, without being pop (well, his earlier stuff was, now a days Muse are shite), but the thing is, not only is he classically trained, Muse are really pretentious. I loved it at first, just sat in awe of his skill. But take a break from them, and listen back. A lot of it is juts him wailing in the background of synth music for a minute.
Have at your preference. Bellamy is an all around tremendous individual, but taste in music aside, he's not technically the best at anything he does. Importantly that doesn't mean shit to me, but calling someone the "best" calls on empirical gradients. Not even close to a "fact".
Proof that Jack White can make everything he touches turn to gold..Unlike fucking no talent hacks that just takes samples and or make a shitty version of an original
im pretty sure that at blackpool lights or sumthing like this jack ran out with his guitar out of the arena/concert hall and into the street or balcony and continued playing but i cant remember what song, where and when he did this as i caught it on mtv can anyone help me
unless you're talking about that shot during lets shake hands that you see jack and meg on the balcony, but he's not got his guitar then, they appear to be applauding their own performance... are you sure you're not on about in 'under great white northern lights'?
Saw this bad on tv by fluke while surfing for something to watch. I am way past my rocking days but this guy caught me by surprise.. i have played this 20 times in the last 24 hours .. the emotion he puts into this song is FA ...
cant stop watching/listening to this video. What a great cover. Love the emotion he puts into this song, without even changing the pronouns. He's a brilliant guitarist. One of the best of the modern generation for sure.
Nothing surprises me with Jack....I like all his bands...his guitar style is amazing....I play the Stripes so much my kids and girlfriend wanna run!...It never gets old to me....Stripes, Beatles,Megadeth,S.O.D.....some stuff is timeless.
he was talking about the beatles in blackpool which would have been 40+ years ago, so the point he was trying to make was that he was in the right place though the wrong time...
They only turn the "Blackpool lights" on in the run-up to Christmas. The White Stripes obviously played there at a different time of the year, hence, "I'm in the right place at the wrong time?"
in blackpool they have lights along the hole strech of the sea front and it looks pretty cool. but there only up during the summer and then taken down at october then xmas ones go up they were obv there during the time they were down..:)
"right place the wrong time" ...the audience laughs at his comment... but whats great is.... he's being serious. Jack White is that one kid that sat by himself at the lunch table in school. true emotion!
This is my favorite version of this song. I prefer it even to the original and other covers I've heard. I also love this performance best. More than the studio version. I <3 this DVD.
I swear I've watched this video around 50 times and I still haven't got over how desperate Jack sounds. Thats what makes him an awesome musician: he can put real emotion into what he sings about.
fuck this is cool
