@Zoloft61 Model Gas Turbines using AXIAL compressors are notorious for NOT working. Its called Reynolds numbers. This is why ALL Model Gas Turbines use RADIAL Compressors. Its a well known simple fact. I admire him for trying though.
@EnglishTurbines Exactly, thanks for clearing this up. When I was much younger I had the idea and plans to build an axial model jet engine. This was in the early 80's when Gary Jackmans (a great pioneer in this field) built the first and succesfull model jet engine. Later on in the 90's a Dutchman named Han Jenniskens developed and built the AMT turbines. Today we see them everywhere. Check out "Jets over Pampa".

@Zoloft61 I think you mean Jerry maybe? A British bloke who FLEW a Propane Gas Turbine Looooong ago maybe? tt was he FIRST time it was done. Before Shreckling and Kamps.and a lot of others too. Actually, the biggest problem with Propane is maintaing Gas pressure // flow rate and stopping the delivery tubes from freezing up. On the up side, you dont have to atomise it like Kerosine, it burns very readily. Gas Turbine..a British invention, Model and full size.
@EnglishTurbines Yes that must be guy. I think I still have the original article in a Dutch model airplane magazine. He described the problems with the propane gas and the turbine wheel (Nimonic alloy), vibrations of the shaft, bearings and so forth.

@Zoloft61 Yes, I think his name was Gerry Jackson prhaps...and it was as far back as the 70s I think. Was he Dutch but living in Britain maybe? Anyway, I remember it clearly and the plane...twin boom as I recall...clever bloke...He definately flew the plane in England..thats for sure.
Don,t think anybody has got a multi stage axial compressor turbine to self sustain at this size,if you do it will be a near melt down temperature.have you made a radial compresser engine or is this your first turbine
All your answers are in the video... What the fxck is being ejected from the back of the engine...
What does the nice word Triangle mean ...Fuel.... "Hello" we do have to breath it to stay alive???

or starting rpm too low?

Maybe the combustion chamber is too small for good combustion?

who makes this ?

i see you recorded this with your toaster, how did you get the file onto your computer?

those turbines, arent they computer fans??

Very, very cool! I have been looking for someone who have build a axial flow turbine.

This engine will not work if its axial. It will never make enought throughput. Stop now, spare yourself.

thrust?

does this have stators?

Quite impressive. But your compression would be way pretty low. Doubt that you get much power out of that engine.

There have been some: bladonjets (dot) com
Its supposed to use less fuel and be more efficient regarding power than comparable centrifugal compressor turbines...

did u use stators in your design? i built mine with 5 stage compressor and 3 stage turbine but no stators so it doesnt sustain itself

cool.
Don't put your finger in there... lol

Hi. That's a real cool project! Did you design it youself? Hope you get it to work correctly! :-)

it seems like it go in to a stal??
I like to help if you want, hope you manage to make it work.
pellenyberg 3 years ago
have you make the compressor whit disks or whit loos blades?
pellenyberg 3 years ago
is this axial compressor and axial turbine?
mistagtr 3 years ago
Yes it is. The compressor is made uit of 5 stages and the turbine out of 2.
Unfortunatly it still doesnt work the way it should. But I am trying hard to get the engine working correct.
josvanderwerf 3 years ago
@josvanderwerf I think, you should build a combustion chamber like normal RC engines have, yours looks to me like massive steel O.o
