WARNING TRUTH AHEAD....Had he not died in that car accident he would now be just another forgotten pop star "Has-been"
You might not like this...But it is the Truth!
It would have been "Can you remember that Marc Bolan guy from that glam rock band from the 70,s..I wonder what he is doing these day's" ..He would now be a fat baldy overweight guy with false teeth, Living in a rented 1 bedroom bedsit in North London.
@71shoelover Warning truth ahead.........what a load of tosh. Have u never heard of the word nostalgia? People would have re-visited these songs coz they were great and reminded them of their youth and good times. He may well have had revival tours and his wonderful songs would have reached subsequent generations wether he was alive or dead. No-one has ever said to me I love T.Rex coz the lead singer died in a car crash. Take your time, by all means, but grow up please!!!
That was cool. Today I was at the mall and some religious nuts allowed their kid to die a horrible death from appendicities because no one cared enough to call Mall security - anyway a nice time of my life. Some good music.
Great classic tune, then in the 80s by the first "supergroup" The Power Station which was covered greatly. its a fun song and i would love to cover this with my band
What gets on my tits about the BBC is they start to repeat 'Top of the Pops' and completely miss out the glam era, which was the best time ever for the programme, citing the reason that not all the episodes exist any more.
Well I don't give a monkeys, they could have easily put together a glam 2 hour special from Youtube clips alone!
That photo at 0:20, I know them! They're a band called "The Unibrows". Actually only two of them are actual unibrows. Kinda like how "The Village People" only had one real gay member, altho the band concept was for all of them to be gay. Unibrows are proud of their eyebrows being connected. That's why George Harrison is shown at 0:23. He was a unibrow in his early days. Unibrowism marks a spiritual connection to the Neanderthal race, much misunderstood. In reality they are extremely spiritual.
@canaerequiem its your mothers best friend and the entire band (except Elton John) used to gang bang her for breakfast, lunch and dinner.Nowdays her vagina looks like a leftover tuna cassorole.
lol they're playing to the recording but Marc is actually singing live too , there are two Marcs here it sounds so funny but it doesn't sound bad at all.
I loved Marc then, and still this turns me on! You can feel his sexuality & energy coming right through this screen! Oh if only he had lived, wonder what he'd be up to today? RIP MARC! ♥♥ msstevie ♥♥
@cooltooth112 where are you getting your information, Elton John was never a member of T Rex. He jammed with them sometimes most notably in Born To Boogie but that is about it. He was a guest appearance in any of these performances that he was included in
@PetitChaton9 I just heard Elton talking in an interview about his early career and he said he did a "short stint" with T. Rex which is actually kind of vague statement. I took it to mean he was a member. I don't know anything about it other than this so I may have made a wrong assumption.
Is it me, or does the audience look bored out of their minds, that is until T Rex come on to perform. An amazing group, complete with a chap called Reg. Wonder what happened to him. I met Bill Legend (the drummer of the group) in the '85 when I worked in a design studio as the studio junior in London. A charming, down-to-earth gentleman and an amazing illustrator.
Also have to respond to NgoSquared; these were innocent times, when people danced any way they wanted to. Now everyone has to be cool and professional. Boring! God forbid you don't have your groove thing.
Nice to see they washed and put on some clean clothes, maybe even shaved their armpits. What a lot of improvement from this same kind of crowd only 30 months previous. Less grease, less stains and less smell (I would guess). Peace and love find soap!!!
I was wondering the same thing. So I looked into it myself. This Top Of The Pops video is from Christmas 1971, so I looked up to see if there were any Elton John videos from 1971. I found a video of Elton John performing Tiny Dancer for BBC. It's from November 1971, and it's only one month before this Christmas concert. So his looks are the same. It sure is Elton John.
Just type in "Elton John Tiny Dancer 1971" and you'll find the video I'm talking about.
I liked to watch this when it 'd come on tv. So cool to take a look at this time, the clothes, the faces...1971, the hight of post summer of love pop freakyness psychedelia-for-the masses.
Ah...the man who captured me when I was only 12! Still magic, still a record with a great groove and as for the man himself - what a star! Love the lyrics -cosmic erotic poetry from the mind of a pop genius...
MTV was great back in the 80's..now its a piece of crap with VJ's and all that other shit. This is like British Bandstand. Reminds me of Don Krishners show here in the states
