  • TheWhiteDevil1612 that's what I'm sayin

  • TheWhiteDevil yeah I agree

  • What about part 3?

  • thumbs up if agree

  • 0.24, looks like e.t yhumbs up if agree

  • Who the fuck would attack Sheffield lol

  • Is that the United kingdom goverment or just city council hidding in that bunker ? I mean seriously they made better bunkers in the WW2 fighting against german blitzing the city this second part look more like how it would be whit nuclear blast 210 megatons is 4200 times hiroshima and britain aint that big also Thank god for living in Canada and being included by the Us anti missille initiative.

  • @seb2455 It's just the local representatives, don't worry, the real powers that be on both sides will all be very comfortable whilst the war they started blows their nations to pieces!

  • With your blathering about who would or wouldn't be blasted to how many bits, you completely miss the point. You should be simply saying "Never, never, never, never; to my town, my freinds, my family, my kids. NEVER!!"

  • With the single explosion above the north sea, and then the following nuclear attack (baring in mind each nuclear bomb gives off its own EMP) how are they talking on the radio to the other police station if 210 megatons fell on britain?

  • @Pavlonia101

    Short wave...generator served...maybe lead protected...

  • Someone stop Ruth from drinking all the families water! Greedy bitch...

  • Maybe that's what the Brits bring to Teheran next year. But let's hope not.

  • I have to laugh at all you folks on here who post comments about what the effects of these weapons will do. You are not scientists nor are you even remotely schooled in this type of thing yet you speak like you are the weapons designer. You form your ideas from what you see on the television. Fools like you will be the first to go I hope.

  • @BubbaBodecker how the hell do you know, who or what people are on here, and you hope theyll be 'the first to go' right back atya dude, its tossers like you what will be the start of a war like this.

  • The hell is that at :24?

  • @OfficialRefrain looks like e.t.'s cousin LOL

  • @OfficialRefrain

    It's an ET toy

  • Still did less damage to the North than Thatcher

  • @PlatinumJestar that damage was only because of the strikers, if they did not strike, it would not have happened

  • damn they got michael

  • Leave it to human beings to take their most dubious, sadistic fantasy (Hell) and fashion a device to instantly create such a place here on earth...

  • Sheffield steel just became Sheffield glass.

  • Sad thing is that the Russians hold not only the most powerful nuclear weapons (57 megaton (57,000 kilotons of TNT) Hydrogen/Fusion Bomb). The bombs used on Japan were a 10 Kiloton and a 15 kiloton and their damage exists to this day. Now you may say that I'm saying that the Russians are the "bad guys", but personally believe the anyone could push the button if they're stupid/fanatical enough.

Nuclear War in some respects is an oxymoron, It isn't war it's mass murder.

  • greed fuels war .. the makers of all weapons of mass destruction are soulless

  • how could the ymake such a terrible weapon

  • In reality that city probably would been hit with like ten nuclear weapons

  • @complainer46 Agreed London was projected in the event of a nuclear war to have needed 10-15 nuclear weapons to destroy everything of vital importance.

  • 0:24 E.T.?

  • War is a bitch aint it.

  • at 0:24 it's ET :(

  • Humanity. The most intelligent yet barbaric of all species

  • @gilgammesh1

Well, we can't really say that we're evil or not because we haven't met a truly sentient species that is like us. If we ever meet aliens and they're all kind and peace-loving, then we can say we're brutal savages. If we meet aliens and they don't even hesitate to execute prisoners or use nuclear weapons, then turns out we're not so bad, eh?

  • WTF..........

  • 2:48: "we've lost County again, aerials must've blown off the roof."

no, dumbass, the reason you can't reach anybody is because there is no County anymore!

  • Thats' really sad i feel srry for them.

  • Oh shit, someone got a 25 killstreak.

  • .."Nuclear luanch detected, Brace for shockwaves" first thought as soon as it started....

  • You destroyed Woolworths, you bastards!

  • @stim124 BASTARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If a nuke supposedly hit the city that the family with the boy named michael were in at the time they would have died in the initial blast. They seem to be in an area fairly close, but not in, the "downtown" area. A major metropolitan area would be completely flattened by the modern nuclear weapon (the icbm).

  • @GWBreck No they wouldn't. The area of complete destruction for a 2 megaton bomb (with an airburst height of 2km) would be 2,4 kilometers, and as you say, their home is not in the city centre. Most buildings would be destroyed for up to 6,2km and moderate damage up to 17km. The Wikipedia article "Effects of nuclear explosions" has good charts on this subject, check it out if interested.

  • @Zappiss God you using Wikipedia as your source that's incredibly lazy. Have you asked yourself does anybody check the info that's on there if its accurate?

  • @GWBreck i think the researchers who helped make the film know a little bit more than a keyboard warrior such as urself

  • @GWBreck The burst was logged on the emergency control center as 160kt.

  • First a Nuclear Bomb hits them, then just when they thought their troubles were all over Grandma goes and shits the bed.

  • Nukes prevented a war Nato countires vs Rassia and it's Alies thanks to nukes it never fully kicked off.

  • Ah well its a cheap source of heating gas prices are too high nowadays.

  • 00:24-00:25

what they hell is burning there? ET?

  • @DASGLion Poor ET he cant get his last phonecall XD

  • Threads was so much more visceral than the Day After. I was a few years older when I finally saw Threads and more mature but it scared me all the same. I think now as an adult its even harder to watch.

  • Ozzy Thank god for the bomb!!

  • Sheffield looks like a shit tip at the best of times.

  • It comes down to what Albert Einstein said. He was asked how the Third World war would be fought and he said he didn't know but he did know how the Fourth World war would be fought...with sticks and stones. Time to get rid of these things. They serve no purpose at all.

  • @ChrisDutch Well, you could also argue that by their very existence they prevent wars. Wars will be fought as long as they are rational, i.e. they can be used to further political goals. Nuclear weapons and mutually assured destruction make war suicidal and thus it is avoided. It's been over 60 years since the last war between major countries (the longest period of peace since the Pax Romana), think about why that is.

  • @Zappiss That's really half assed logic. They certainly prevent 100,000 Americans from dying in Korea, Vietnam or brushfires in the Middle East nor did they do anything to stop millions of civilians from dying or being displaced in those countries as well. These weapons are a waste of time and money if they are not being used and they still are a danger, MAD or not. They don't keep the peace; they maintain a false sense of "winnable" wars.

  • @Zappiss 1) Without a world war, yes, but wars...you gotta be joking! 2) the MAD approach (Mutually Assured Destruction) has just worked since WW2, but we came pretty close to disaster with Cuba. And it works 'as long as they are rational' - hence the serious fears about Islamic nations now having nuclear capability. Does anybody doubt that the leader of Iran would consider it a service to mankind if he wiped out the only democratic nation in the Middle East, whatever the consequences?

  • @mthompsoNZ Yes, I doubt it. Anti-semitic, yes. Suicidal, no. No more than Kruschev meant it literally when he said, "We will bury you." This kind of assumption leads to first strikes. I believe that a non-military solution will be worked out. Ahmedinijad actually wants Iran to survive. I actually think we need to worry more about North Korea (although I don't think they are anxious to get blown up, either) and, in the longer term, India vs. Pakistan.

  • @Zappiss when everyone has access to them, everyone else realizes that everyone has the capacity to destroy everything. so for the sake of survival we play nice with one another.

  • @Zappiss

And you think about why it is that pretty much every other country is crapping themselves and trying as damn hard as they can to either destroy the countries with the nukes or get some of their own. Fear works both ways.

  • @Zappiss An argument that I have voiced here on You Tube that in fact nuclear war has prevented another world war for the last 60 years. If nukes hadn't been invented then another world war would have broken out sooner or later, for the simple fact that it would still have been winnable. Overnight nuclear war made that forever impossible to achieve without utter destruction of the planet. Futher to that, I suggest that was one of the main reasons why the bomb was invented in the first place.

  • @Zappiss I am not sure what would be more lethal tho a conventionnal war btw the Usa and Russia or a nuclear war it would be as easy to level a city whit coventionnal warfare nowaday then it is whit a nuke

  • @ChrisDutch Oh the irony... einstein himself made the first bomb for th U.S. army...

  • @Kuti210 Einstein didnt make the first nuclear bomb, he wasnt even part of the manhattan project, besides, the first nuclear weapon was well on its way to being made in Germany, Thank god they never completed their work by the time the war ended.

  • @Kuti210 also the manhattan project was a collaberation betwen US UK and Canada, along with the collaboration of the british tube alloys project. The bomb wasnt designed for the US army, they just happen to be the one who used it.

  • @TheEternalUniverse Yeah, i should research more about this stuff i dont even know who were the guys involved on the original project.... I just know they happen to be german cientists

  • @ChrisDutch Yes in minutes nuclear war would eliminate the 21st century and put us back in the Stone Age forever.

  • this is horrible

  • Who the hell would want to survive, I'd find out where a bomb was landing and make sure it landed on my head.

  • in such a situation it would be better to have the means to end the lives of your self and loved one, than to survive and slowly die of radiation sickness

  • nooo kitty :( 1.51

  • @rubberunicorn NOT THE KITTY

  • Knowing me:

I'd sleep like a baby if this happened at night.

I'd wake up in the moning, walk to the shop totally oblivious to the destruction around me....

  • Regan: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

    He'll take it down alright.

    WITH 60,000 MEGATONS OF HEU!!!

  • I think this movie is quite good so far because it shows you what people have to suffer when a nuclear war breaks out. All we have to do when a nuclear war on ANY country is eminent, just make peace by playing this movie. As I have sat and watched so far, I think why? Why do we have these? Why do we fight? WHY don't we just MAKE PEACE? Please just try and answer the question. And you'll see how hard it is.

  • 3:31 haha! funny!!!

  • 2:16 IT'S DARTH VADER WITHOUT HIS MASK ON!!!

  • 0:24 .the bastards burned ET

  • The man on the bike on fire in the tree still gets me!

  • Comment removed

  • @ludocrat Worry not. M.A.D is always in effect and as such mostly these weapons are just a back up. No one ever invades a nuclear nation. Mostly these are political sabre rattling tools nothing more.

  • THEY ROASTED E.T!!!!!

  • did anyone else see ET at 25 seconds?

  • the cat survived cuz it got 9 lives

  • 0:25 ET? O.o

  • Should Adolf have come across that weapon - this WOULD of happened

  • Have we counter-attacked yet?

  • Ruth is a selfish cow! Wouldn't wanna be sick on a desert island (or in a nuclear war..) with her.

  • 2:45, "The ariels must've blown, they were on the roof"

    - Now, I'M no scientist, but did placing ariels on a roof which could be destroyed in a firestorm seem like a good idea at the time for post-nuclear communiction?

    ;)

  • @SuperVolvoLover You still needed a high point in order to get your signal out over longer distances, which was why the aerial was on the roof. A better question would by why they would put one of their C&C in a basement near a bull's-eye and without any equipment to dig themselves out?

  • pause at 0:24 IS THAT E.T?!?!?!? LOL

  • Aww, poor kitty!

  • @Wirechoke I just tell myself he's a stunt kitty probably high on cat nip at the time. You see the way he was stretching himself out?!

  • Sheffield destroyed by a devastating nuclear attack?! Happy Days :D X

  • That family really seemed to be dilly-dallying. My family would have been in that shelter immediately after the glass shattered.

  • It's de great nuclear fire of Sheffield!

  • Ps the film that these 2 parts are taken from is called 'threads'. Its a full 90 minute film. Disturbing stuff.

  • Growing up in sheffield where it was based made it all the more disturbing when it was first shown bk in 1982-83. I was ten at the time and seeing places i knew in the town centre getting blown to pieces made it even more real. Disturbing film even by todays standard. Ill never forget it. Craig gray 37. Still living in sheffield, england.

  • Threads might be the most disturbing movie I've ever seen.

  • You call down the thunder? Now reap the whirlwind...

  • Called a cold war yet radiation is INTENSIVELY HOT???

  • I wonder why Britain always seems to have better actors than America does?

  • forget the first aid kit wheres the fucking stimpack

  • @MrUberguber lol

  • I'm thinking the subtitles are maybe for the northern accents rather than the RP.

  • this shows you Government advice does nothing to help people

  • this is a sickerning thought that we nearly killed everyone in the world in the cold war im glad it didnt escalate

  • good job woolworths! bank rupt lol

  • a dude took cover up a tree with his bike

  • @cuntstubbl aha i saw that

  • lol E.T. on fire win sauce lol

  • Found the need for subtitles more disturbing than the nuclear blast sequences! Those of us in America with a secondary education, don't find the Kings English THAT challenging. Come on, "the Pond" isnt THAT expansive!

  • @jbird0168 lol

  • @jbird0168 haha! i thought the same thing, why in Hell is there subtitles?

  • THANK YOU President Kennedy for saving the world.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 And Kruschev.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 I'm pretty sure this isn't about the Cuban Missile Crisis - Kennedy was LUCKY with his actions there and he also caused a lot of trouble which lead to the crisis, he's lucky that the USSR made a deal. Do not think the USA solved all the problems - they were irrational with relations too.

Also, there were plenty more threats of Nuclear war between Soviet Union and NATO which Kennedy played no part in.

  • @MelizzaLyk ..... Luck? no he wasn't a very lucky guy, We we're lucky Krushchev had a brain and a heart, Robert Kennedy was constantly in talks with the Khrushchev's trusted circle on the behave of John, Generals and politicians on both sides we're screaming for the first attack, but Kennedy's level mind decided (along with Khrushchev) that a nuclear war between the two would be a complete failure and demolish both empires and strangle the earth's ecosystem.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 Yes, but he took risky actions which could have amounted to it, because they didn't amount to anything he was lucky. No one wants Nuclear War, only because you don't want it doesn't mean you don't do things which could amount to it.

  • @MelizzaLyk , Kennedy risked his country?!,cared more about the empire than the people?! damn you are misinformed lady.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 No I'm not, you're just blinded by American propaganda favourable to Kennedy - the US government never wants to feel mistrusted.

Kennedy was no saint - I would seriously read up more on Cold War history and the moves made by him.

  • @MelizzaLyk LOL the last thing I get my knowledge from is American propaganda..... the US gov't never wants to feel mistrusted?!

Ok I think you need to read up on history thats not directly written by the victors.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 Cold War had no victor... how could I read up on history made by the victors.

Tell me a reason why the US government or any government would want to be mistrusted.... ?

  • @MelizzaLyk I was refering to this quote "History is written by the victor" - Winston Churchill, and Im not directly refering to the cold war with that quote. Please look up and read about false flag attacks, black ops, read about the federal reserve scam, lies that took the US into Afghan, Iraq, Vietnam.., read about the USS Liberty coverup, read about what the CIA had in plan to go into Cuba Operation Northwoods, COINTELPRO, go watch the videos of Bohemian Grove and the true meaning behind it

  • @TheCanucksfan21 I am aware of whom the quote is by but it has little application to anything.

I am aware of those things, but all of them lead to things which will benefit the country/gov. and people will eventually forget about, the government only needs to keep the general working class masses happy to be in power - which average worker cares about the reasons why we invaded Iraq? As long as they are appeased they will trust and forget the govs. actions.

  • @MelizzaLyk omg you are either a gov't shill or a completely naive and ignorant person. Who cares? Benefitted the country? ... LOOK AT THE FKING ECONOMY, your so stupid im not even going to bother anymore, anyone who reads this clearly will see how stupid and ignorant you are.... you think people dont care what the gov't does secretly in their name with their money holy fck your a moron.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 T The economy is only partially to do with the US government (the US isn't very nationalised), other economies caused the landslide e.g. Europe, Japan. Don't go spouting off shit about the economy when you obviously are being spoon fed what the news tells you.

I presume you're some stuck up Uni undergrad by the way you are being so one sided, I shan't bother anymore because you are using generic arguments and obscenities which shows immaturity.

  • @MelizzaLyk SHUT THE FUCK UP, and go read and educate yours4elf on what I said, If you think the economy has nothing to do with US gov't your a fucking IDIOTO SENOR!

  • @TheCanucksfan21 I SAID PARTIALLY TO DO WITH THE US GOV DO I HAVE TO TYPE IN CAPITALS TO MAKE YOU NOTICE WHAT I SAT! YOU THINK THE US IS THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD?

AM I MISTAKEN OR ARE YOU SOME ISOLATED AMERICAN WHO SEES NOTHING BUT THE US?!

THE EU GENERATES A LARGER GDP THAN AMERICA - THEY HAVE PLAYED A MAJOR PART (ALONG WITH THEIR GOVS WHO HAVE A LOT OF SPENDING RESPONSIBILITY) IN THE ECONOMIC DOWNTURN!

I'm sorry but you sir are absolutely oblivous to how countries are linked economically!

  • @MelizzaLyk I know how fiat currency works, l know of the (not)Federal(no)Reserve who controls it, I know of the billions of taxpayer money printed and handed to corp. execs in the bailout. The world is a corrupt place if you think it was just excess spending that caused the bubble then you need to rethink. I'm not a professor but I know economics.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 It is partially excess spending although it is admittedly not all down to that - taxpayer money being handed to bailout is a massive problem (I don't know how bad that was in US but in Britain the banks were given trillions of pounds) also it is shift of economic power to the BRIC countries.

Anyway, off economics the argument in hand was Kennedy being the saviour from nuclear war, we can have our opinons... but I don't think he was and that's that.

  • @MelizzaLyk thats pretty dumb

  • @MelizzaLyk SPOON FED WHAT THE NEWS IS TELLING ME?!?! WTF IS THE NEWS, there is NO NEWS its all propaganda BULL SHIT. Im the last guy to believe that lady, your so over your head you have no idea what your talking about. "Stuck up uni grad" actually no Im 26yr with a good career, you are a gov't shill are you not? or are you seriously that ignorant, read history, read the thing I told you about, realize history IS NOT ALWAYS AS ITS WRITTEN ON WIKIPEDIA.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 Oh my god. You are twisting what I am saying...

Judging your comments your some 19yr old stuck up kid who thinks they know everything.

I am not getting my sources from wikipedia, I actually studied Economics and Modern History, and I also don't listen to what the news tells me.

You are forming your opinions of Kennedy off patriotic film, rather than factual post-revisionist literature - and the economic crap you are spouting sounds like you are a conspiricist.

  • @MelizzaLyk Check out Prescott Bush and how he bankrollled with the Nazi's, Look at the Skull and Bones (not the front, but the real).... There are soo many other countless things I could keep going, basically these are disgusting criminals in power, and people are like sheep in the way they view life.

  • @MelizzaLyk The Cuban missile crisis was no little event. The world would NOT be the way it is now if that happened, along with the fact both countries had nuclear armed subs following the missile ships gives me a chill and shows you why they kept that secret for soo long...... If you think Kennedy caused the whole thing with the Bay of Pigs event, holy crap your knowledge is very misguided, stop drinking the kool-aid and wake up to the fact he never wanted the B.O.P in the 1st place.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 I didn't say it was just the Bay of Pigs.

The Cuban Missile Crisis reached heat because of a US blockade (on Kennedys orders, could have easily caused Nuclear was if USSR retaliated - which was Kennedy's luck) and US spying on Cuba. The US had missiles in Turkey which is close to Russia like Cuba is the USA too (refused to admit he took them down publicly)- Kennedy cared more about front than his country, he risked his country to make the US look more powerful.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 excuse me?

  • @TheCanucksfan21 Fucking twat, this isn't some god bless america hollywood movie, nuclear holocaust was a very real, possible scenario. If anything, thank the unstable USSR.

  • @MrMorg19 lol fuck you too douchebag, I dont believe any of the bullshit written on wikipedia. Jack and Bobby we're both in constant communication with Khrushchev behind the White house or CIA's back. Krushchev can be thanked aswell. The kremlin we're warned that a coup was about to take place before 11/63..... Bay of Pigs was a fucking CIA Blackop blamed on Kennedy.

  • @TheCanucksfan21 Our last great President unlike the piece of bankster shit that sits in the White House now

  • Is there a part three? i cant find it.

  • the cunts blew up woolworths! :(

  • @THEMATTBUXTON and killed E.T. :(

  • @THEMATTBUXTON good i hated that shithole anyway!

  • @THEMATTBUXTON I was getting rather alarmed watching this, nearly in tears cos the condenser on the combi-boiler has frozen over & Britgas isn't coming to fix it until next week then I saw you're comment and almost collapsed laughing! Nice one.

Don't worry about woolworths there is one in Linz!

  • @Broadsword255 just thinking about those commies taking woolworths off our highstreet keeps me up at night! when they went into administration last year i went into a coma for about a year and half. i hope you combi-boiler gets better soon mate, tell it to keep warm and give it some lemsip. works a treat.

  • @THEMATTBUXTON OH GOD! NOT WOOLWORTHS!

    Oh wait.

  • @THEMATTBUXTON No, the Labour government did that :P

  • Poor ET :(

Caught up in a pety human nuclear war.

  • if something like that happens pray that you die

  • oh my god is that it if that happend i would say so fuckin much more

  • @matthewmttyd True. Very true. Do not underestimate the resilience of life. If we are all bombed to oblivion. Life will come back in other forms. Who knows what.

  • @irishchrisc Sorry, 2nd message. I've got a fascination for ants these days. Fire ants can withstand microwaves. Do you think ants would evolve? Ants versus rats, i'd say.

  • @Kelly14UK You have no idea how irritating it is to accidentally stand on a fire ant mound. Itches like hell for days. Fuck fire ants, I burn there mounds with petrol, little cunts still come back.

  • @irishchrisc Lol! The swine are on YT. One of those David Attenborough things.

  • @IVGARIBALDIVI Please tell me English is your second language.

  • If Europe and USA get nuked by Russia,China and Iran our class will be celebrating the whole thing and my friend and I will be singing:"Joy to the world,US got nuked!!!

  • @Morozov97 You fire one at us you got one coming back at ya you stupid Ruskie!

  • disturbing as hell. such a great film.

  • 0:25 WTF ?

  • @haygal4everloveya Its that ET thing.

  • ET just needs BBQ sauce now

  • The sad part is this is what happened in Japan. They actually had to go through this.

  • @ontariobuds

The sad part is that they tried to kill my great uncle when they started the war by attacking pearl harbor!

  • @mikesummers19731 that is very sad. I am glad to hear your great uncle didn't die.

  • 3000 megatons?????

  • @1:55 poor kitty :( I'm not sure I want to know how the filmmakers got it to do that.

  • @jjobie catnip maybe? All he seemed to do was roll around.

For some reason I didn't feel bad when I saw people crawling around, but once I saw the poor cat, I got a little sad. I LOVE CATS!

  • @ontariobuds I know how you feel

  • @TheCamoWulf I think it's because they seem more helpless I feel more sad seeing pictures of animals being hurt over humans. I am not sure if it is weird or not. Seeing something in person is different, but I can't even listen to a PETA video.

  • @ontariobuds I can't stand seeing animals hurt and no you're not weird. At one time I had a copy of "Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie" but seeing our government burning helpless animals alive pushed me over the edge. I threw the copy away. The way those people treated animals was heinous and reprehensible. I wonder how those scientists and researchers would have liked it if they were the ones being burned alive.

  • @FlyBraniff Well they used pigs because of the DNS similarity. But yeah i guess it could be better(and cheaper btw) if they use death sentenced prisoners. Oh anyway he test was failed because the pigs were more resistant to heat
