  • It's pretty embarassing how he just blatantly regurgitates it during the community meeting. None of them are going to understand and it's all so elementary to begin with.

Probably my least favorite part of the season.

  • If stringer was born in a different world, he would be in fortune 500

  • The reason he sounds british is cause he's talking with a ghetto accent.

    How do the two correlate?

British people also don't fully prenounce the 'r' in desire. They kind of say it like "dee-si-yuh'.

Ghetto accent kind of has the same thing going on, too, alhough the r is a little bit more prominent.

Anyway, it's funny to see how people more accustomed to British accent hear british, while people who are used to ghetto accent think it's just fine.

  • @jungshin87 Ummm...he is british...

  • What is the song in this scene?

  • That's micro not macro!!!

  • The next Bond right here!

  • "I'm serious."

  • Imagine Stringer Bell as your classmate? Imagine having to do a research project with him? I'd be scared shitless....

  • thought i saw allen iverson haha

  • actually the basics of microeconomics...

  • @TheNHTRB No. The class clearly says "Introduction to Macroeconomics" - he is practicing microeconomics.

  • @TheDJIdris price elasticity of demand is part of consumer theory, a part of microeconomics, therefore he is learning microeconomics in the video.

  • "Fuck'em. Let'em wait." The motto of every cable repair company.

  • @323guiltyspark ....... or auto repair shop.

  • way cooler than ignorant ghetto trash afraid of books

  • ifyou wanna know where someone is from ??ask em to say the word DO

  • must be frustrating for bell talking to these retards that make up the majority of his gang

  • I am going to take my education more seriously, after watching this scene. This show is awesome, and you can learn a lot from it, if you watch carefully, and pay atention to some details that show us all how education is the way of the future.Be smart.

  • stringer bell is a entrepreneur.

  • 1. The kid in the braids looks like he might be Kenard's older brother

    2. Stringer was on to the kinko's hustle EARLY in the game

  • @MrLesWhite

    1. why because hes a fucking midget?

  • Wow his british accent came in full force in this scene, guess he just slacked the day they shot this. Still a beast though.

  • 'For while I would consider myself autodidactic, I do not study economics, per se, in my spare time. I am however, a 3rd year Investment Banking analyst at a top-tier financial institution, having worked on individual transactions valued @ 11-figures+. And having studied finance in undergrad, taking courses in Macro and Micro Econ, Macro theory of Latin America and Africa, as well as 2 courses in Game Theory.

    '

THIS GUY WORKS IN A BURGER KING NOW

  • @reltonpelton lol

  • @reltonpelton thanks for the laugh.

  • I grew up with a guy just like stringer...educated and street but always trying to force it on other ppl...I love when the kid says fuck em let em wait!!!

  • One of the reasons why Stringer was and is my fav character on The Wire

  • this show whats wrong with America, we're arguing over what class this man is taking and the man is selling kilos of heiroin,

  • @duecethird22333

Actually, Idris Elba is an actor from London.

  • @duecethird22333 The kilos is where he started and the community he was from. If he was white and went to Harvard he would be running a corporation or was in a different environment selling sand in the desert or whatever he would have been successful. The show was just trying to show the various types of people caught up in the game and how they all could have been successes doing soemthing else. From the cops the the dealers

  • This is goddamn microeconomics! Not Macro. I love the wire, but the producers didn't do enough research on the two.

-An econ major at a top 25 school

  • @Timzack Elasticity, while a microeconomic subject, is taught as a basic building block in both economics classes in a community college, kinda like how you can't talk about either Micro/Macro without going into supply/demand first (and we both know elasticity is deeply tied to the demand curve).

  • l love this nigga stringer

  • No Stringer, they don't understand you. They're fucking losers.

  • dat accent came back at 1:27

  • @fukengr8 lololol it sure did

  • Comment removed

  • Idris forgot to get rid of his British accent in this scene lol i like it

  • I'm British and he sounds pretty American in this scene to me. ;) Maybe it's some sort of blend of both?

For me Stringer/Idris is the Brit who has the most convincing American accent in the whole of The Wire, whereas McNulty makes a mess of his from time to time and Carcetti's is well... the less said about that the better haha.

  • @KingOfTheShrews lol, yeah mcnulty always had trouble throughout the series with the word murder becuase of the R's.

  • @Sneezers Yeah when he said "they gonna do it!"

  • @Sneezers I heard that too, good ear!

  • As a commerce student I fucking loved this mini plot arc. My crowning moment I think was when Stringer asked his professor what to do and before the professor even opened his mouth I said the exact same answer in similar words out loud.

  • MICROeconomics. Still, love this scene.

  • That desk looks like a little toy with Elba sitting in it.

  • And if every black person had your attitude, how would expect the to progress.

No need to answer. It's called a rhetorical question you dumb cunt.

  • shut up pussy

  • Supply and demand is microeconomics.

  • Supply and demand is basic economics.

  • Supply and Demand is used in both Macro and Micro economics

  • that's microeconomics, not macro

  • im going to this class in 40 minutes its macro

  • My understanding was that macro-economics was the study of the economy as a whole (Keynes, Friedman et al on money supply, government, growth, unemployment etc), not of how individual markets function. What's your's?

  • the same

  • thank god somebody pointed that out; one part of this show that always bugged me

  • That's a real classroom of the Baltimore City Community College!

  • If he had a code & honor, stringer bell would have been the ultimate gangster.. too bad he didn't had the chance to use his smartness in a real business

  • Is it just me, or is Stringer Bell really hot?

  • loooooool what a dick!!

  • @thebeast0011

WHAT I SAID IS TRUE BITCHES GO AROUND SAYING GUYS ARE HOTT BUT THEN WHEN YOU MEET THEM YOU PLAY THESE SLOW GAMES AND TESTING AND TALKING YOU NEVER GET TO THE FUCKING RIGHT OFF THE BAT AND WHEN YOU SAY A GUY IS HOT IT MEANS YOU WANNA FUCK HIM BUT YOU BITCHES TAKE 3 WEEKS OF FUCKIN PLAYING AROUND GAMES UNTIL I ACTUALLY GET IT HIT IT AND ONCE I GET THE CHANGE TO FINALLY HIT IT THEY BITCH IS CUMMING ALL OVER THE FLOOR WHEN I FUCK HER PUSSY FROM BEHIND BECAUSE I'M BEEN DYIN FOR IT

  • Stop talking bout women like you know them. You blatantly take it up the bum bum anyway... fuckin fag.

  • @/thebeast0011

YOUR SAYING THERES GIRLS THAT WILL FUCK RIGHT OFF THE BAT? WITHOUT PLAYING GAMES? BECAUSE THIS SEXY BEAUTIFUL DELCIOUS WOMAN SHE WAS AN MEXICAN GIRL IT TOOK 3WEEKS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO BEAT THAT PUSSY UP I HAD TO TAKE HER TO RESTAURANT AFTER RESTAURANT AND TALK LONG HOURS UNTIL ONE DAY SHE FEELS LIKE FUCKING AND BY THAT POINT I FUCKED HER WITHOUT A CONDOM FROM BEHIND AND SHE CUMMED ALL OVER THE FLOOR BECAUSE I FUCKED HER SO HARD BECAUSE I BEEN DYING FOR IT SHE GOT PREGNANT LATER

  • LOOOOL you make me laugh you horny, self obsessed son of a bitch. Im sure you're chatting shit so I will end this here. Much love

  • @/thebeast0011

YA THE BITCH GOT PREGNANT & I NEVER SAW HER AGAIN BUT ITS HER FALUT SHE GOT KNOCKED UP I WOULD A NOT BEEN DYING FOR IT TO THAT DEGREE IF SHE JUST FUCKED ME WHEN SHE FIRST MEET ME BUT THIS LATIN GIRL MADE ME PLAY WAITING GAMES WITH HER FOR 3 WEEKS UNTIL SHE FEELS LIKE FUCKING AND BY THAT POINT I HAVE BEEN DYING FOR IT SO LONG I BANGED THAT PUSSY HEAVYLY MY DICK SPILLED CUM IN HER PUSSY REAL FAST ALL OF IT I AINT TAKE IT OUT I JUST KEPT WRECKING THAT PUSSY FOR HOURS WHILE SHE MOAN

  • @JRilla1879 OMG I know 4 year olds with better sentence structure than you

  • @JRilla1879 Do you ever shut up on these posts?

  • @LittleRedMenace you like negro penis?

  • @MikefromMadrid you intimidated by negro penis?

  • Stringer was about product, if he paid attention a little bit more to customer service he would have been 10 times more successful.

  • Avon should have listened to Stringer.

  • stringer is british as well as mcnulty...its easy for a british actor to pull off an "east coast" accent

  • His British accent comes through very apparently in the second scene in the copy shop.

It's actually not easy for british actors to pull off east coast US accents. As with most things it life it depends. Duh!!

  • the day i first saw this episode, i had started learning about elasticty in my microeconomics class

  • I had to listen a second time real close for me to catch that!! I would have never noticed if you hadnt pointed it out!!! Good Acting by idris....I wish he was represented more

  • Stringer should have taken a computer class too.

  • isn't price elasticity usually a topic covered in microeconomics?

  • yeah, definitely, the title should say microeconomics.

  • I loved this scene too. It was such a surprise to find out that Stringer took business classes and tried to implement the things he learned in his day job.

  • That scene just goes to show you how seriously Stringer Bell took the drug game, because you can bet he took what he learned here and tried to apply it to the drug game

  • This shows how seriously he values education, not the drug game. It should be apparent that Stringer Bell is not serious about "drugs" as a way of life. He is ambitious. Drugs are a means to an end for Bell. A product if you will. Drugs are a commodity. Fungible by their very nature. Bell sees this. This becomes evident later on in the show, as he branches off into real estate. If he could achieve similar returns selling oranges or air conditioners he would.

Avon, now he loved the game!

  • Excellent response. Yeah, Avon was obsessed with the game.

  • That response was pretty sweet, huh?

  • Yes, it was very sweet. Do you study economics? Your response indicated to me that you might study it a lil in your spare time.

  • I abhor internet shorthand (ttyl, lmao, etc), but this would be a definite lol.

For while I would consider myself autodidactic, I do not study economics, per se, in my spare time.

  • but..you get no pussy

  • You are aware that simply typing something does not make it so, correct?

Apparently you are unaware that many women prefer intelligent men, often to the exclusion of others. Add to that the fact that I earn a not insignificant living and am but of 24 years and I cannot understand why you would think that I have trouble with women.

Did you ever consider that I engage with a caliber of woman that you could scarcely imagine, if first impression are any indication.

    Shalom.

  • cant you just speak like a normal person???

  • I'm not sure I follow. I thought that is what i was doing?

    :/

  • So yeah I know a little about Economics.

  • wow.every one here seems to be a drug czar.u deal drugs at ur armchair ?lol

  • I get the impression that you may have been attempting to be hurtful w/ you comment.

If you go back and actually read my comment and my subsequent reply, it should be obvious that my background is in finance and not narcotics.

I did not claim any insight into the drug game. I am an investment banker focusing on all aspects of the real estate market. I have a thorough background in finance and economics. This experience is what I brought to bear in my earlier comment.

  • @ChadMedellin avon, he was just a gangster.

  • @ChadMedellin yeah you sound real smart??? never sold a bag of nouthing........dont give a danm where you at, aint no money like dope money, string tried to change, occupation, but he was what he was,a dope boy, try to tell BUSH family they dont need to be over ther in the desert, and see if they dont smack yo ass

  • @ChadMedellin I gotta disagree with you, but only slightly. He values education, but I don't think he's very cognizant of economics even though he is certainly interested in it. Notice how in every episode that shows him in class, after he learns a new econ term (e.g. market saturation) he goes immediately to his soldiers and uses the word. Almost like he's showing off his 'smarts'. Not unlike a 5 year old who heard a new curse word and is showing it off to his friends to make him seem tougher.

  • @SclafaniBagni I think he already understood the CONCEPTS of economics from the streets, hence, in class it shows him answering the question using basic street terminology, to me it shows he is VERY cognizant of the key components of economics. What I think the class is doing for him is giving him the "language" of the business and providing him the terminology for concepts that he understood but never had a name for. You don't build a successful drug empire without economic skills. Truth.

  • @obscure323 love that comment.

  • @waterboardsporter Thank you, so do I. :o)

  • Excellent quality for this video Chris

  • you need to diversify your bonds nigga

  • "Fuck'em. Let'em wait." I just love that.

  • at 1:23 his accent came out a little bit but he pull it back nicely.

  • I was about to comment on that also, when he said "and they don't" that's when you can hear his British accent.

  • ROFL, you gotta be kidding me.... I love the wire, seen the whole series almost twice now, and i never for a second thought he was British, this is the first time I hear this :D You probably knew beforehand, which was why it was so apparent to you... or I'm just a really lame observer :)

  • Hahaha. Those corner boys have great customer service skills.

  • lmao, i wonder if the students next to him realize their sitting beside a murderous drug kingpin. Imagine getting paired up with him for a paper... scary.

  • That would be scary, but at least you know he'll come up with some interesting insights.

  • this is definitely microeconomics

  • wasn't this in season 3?

  • Not to nitpick, but elasticity is more relevant to microeconomics, and not macro, which deals with economics on a larger scale. In terms of Stringer's locally run business, we're talking microeconomics=)

  • lol. The Urban Economist. Yo yo yo! You need to diversify your portfolio bitch!

  • yeah the wire was wrong. this is strictly microeconomics. macro talks about circular flow, national consumption, and money supply

  • Takin' Macroeconomics this year. w00t!

  • Bell was funny in a serious way. I loved his character

  • Elasticity of demand is actually a concept that would be covered in micro, not macro. I should know, I got a 5 on the micro exam.

5 on the macro as well, if you want to split hairs.

  • The cop is thinking "that sneaky brilliant ****".

  • Y does it seem like idris only fucks up the accent in the print shop... lol, it doesn't matter he's great...

  • In a way, I respected Stringer for how he tried to stay on top of things and his mind for business, but he was really shady as well

  • Yeah I feel the same way

  • Elasticity is normally a micro topic not a macro topic.

  • naw mc nultty realize stringers no dummy

  • Nah but do you know what snoop stringer failed his life course ! lol

  • Ha ha well put snoop!!

  • this is exactly why mcnulty never underestimated stringer bell!

  • i just finished taking intro to macroeconomics at school, haha. stringer got A's but i pretty much failed that course.

  • yea i hated it. stringer's just too damn smart, haha!

  • It's funny how Mc Nulty looks at the sign like what the fuck class is this dude taking
