  • awesome vid. this is my favourite song. this is my uncle :]]]

  • I was at GB07 and missed the rising performance - I still regret that. But I saw Michael at the Angel's share and from that performance I have started working my way backwards through his catalogue. They are all crackers - I'm now up to Gethsemane

  • beautiful video and great great great song!!!

we love you Michael, your music is wonderful.

    You're the greatest.

  • AWESOME!!!! What a FANTASTIC performance by America's FINEST songwriter...

  • Captivating performance. Speaks the heart of the American people, crossing all lines and boundaries, yet leaves hope in its wake. A work of art you captured here, many thanks...

  • I saw this guy same time as you he is amazing thanks for posting the vid

  • Awesome intense and even scary performance that befits the song. Michael McDermott is the greatest singer on Earth!

  • Brilliant, and definately one of the highlights from this years Greenbelt. Love the CD too!

  • This was a stunning performance, one of the highlights of GB07 for me ...sent shivers down my spine too fribbles...Brilliant video.... thank you.

  • Absolutely an incredible song---will send shivers down your spine, it's so spot on---reflections of what's in one's soul in regards to the duality of pride in your country and shame for its actions. Many thanks for sharing this video, and McDermott is a genius for writing such a heartfelt piece.

  • Cheers...I know what you mean about the shivers!

  • This performance is of interest because he introduces the song with a some bars of 'God Save the Queen'

  • No doubt this is a great song, great performance and a great artist.

But I my guess would be that the first few bars in are in reference to America (My Country 'Tis of Thee), not God Save the Queen.

(even though both hymns have the same melody)

  • @markheybo In the United States we call that song "My Country Tis Of The," which you might note he mentions in the song. We have a different set of lyrics for the song than the Brits do.
