What the hell is the point of keeping a car with shot lifters obviously the old guy never took care of it never changed the oil in the last ten years never started it to ensure things move a little on the inside .Sad story but he wont sell it .Go figure.

@camirocz Heavy car yes, it out ways a chevelle by 500 pounds. Dirty yes, it hasnt been out of the garage in 5 years. Slow yes, it has 165,000 miles on it. It's tired. @rektum88 Yup, it's an LS-5. They only offered the LS-5 in the monte carlos, So if your's had a LS-6 someone put that in there later. It never left the factory that way.
My first hot rod was a forest green metallic 71' Monte, probably the finest machine I ever owned. Bought it from a kid who was a pro mechanic that raced it on the 1/4 mile track. Mint except for one silver dollar sized rust hole in the trunk, and tons of upgrades. Delorean still worked at GM in 71', and he designed the front end like the Mercedes where the wheels actually tilt a few inches in the direction you are turning. Handles great for a large car! This made me miss mine ;~(
hey 1st coment!!! god did i nail that or what??? beautiful car,that was my dream car going up i had a 74 chevelle sport couple that i loved it was my 1st car but i always wanted 1 of those montes,i still would ! and with the 454 ss option ...very rare and a big colletable car now a days.what a great car! 8 track LOL loved that shifter.i have a fix for the stuck lifters,draing out some of the oiland put 2 quarts of trans fluid in the oil start it up and let it idle up to 185 or up to temp
@Needmorehorsepower then shut it off and let it cool all the way down,keep doing this till it stops doing it at idle then keep doing it with reving just a little till its all gone,i bought a gp 3.1 motor that was so bad i thought for sure the motor had a rod knocking,i did that about 20 times and that was the quietest and 1 of the best motors ive ever had.8 yrs? you have to get that thing out,dont let it get lot rot from sitting beautiful car and thanks for sharing :)

I had a green 71 SS and it had the pad but it was cracked. Not reprod' and impossible to find. Beautiful lady,she needs to be driven.
